I… kinda like this set-up? Because Illyana would be willing—and very able—to play the bad guy for the greater good. Do feel like these people are more functions in a story than characters with depth in this series.

Illyana Rasputin dying in A.X.E.: Judgment Day #5 and Immortal X-Men #7

Since this was revealed to be a Celestial illusion, can anyone remind me if Illyana has ever had a confirmed Krakoan resurrection by the Five? I can’t recall any.

(And my headcanon is that having been reborn once already in the non-linear time of Limbo, she may very well be so connected to it that Limbo will always bring her back on its own. Illyana might have put in a DNR notice (Do Not Resurrect) to prevent there ending up being two of her. Which could have made for a good story with her friends hearing from the Five that they refuse to bring her back and not understanding why, and Illyana then turning up as they’re grieving her.)

Can we talk about this moment for a second?

Illyana went there as a last attempt to save her life, and when she was told that she was essentially about to die (like any minute now), she pretty much accepted it, and:

- Wanted to know if her brother survived the massacre

- Was happy that the last person she would get to see, and who'd be by her side when she passed, was Kitty.

-- Happy with the assumption that Emma quietly suspected the worst and had sent her someone she knew loved Illyana deeply so she wouldn't be alone in her final moments.

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Even though Illyana has developed friendships along the way, in her assumed last moments of her life, all that was on her mind were THE TWO PEOPLE SHE CARES ABOUT THE MOST.

It's such a perfect character consistency moment, and I LOVE IT.

Illyana Rasputin in Marvel’s Voices: Pride

Does… anyone else get the feeling that Illyana is giving Karma the talking-to she secretly wants someone to give her? She clearly has all the counter-arguments thought out as if this has all been on her mind for a while, even if it’s hard to actually tell yourself those things.

Happy for Karma, just think it would be good for her karma to return the favor sometime, and she’s observant enough that I trust her to notice.

(That role-reversed situation is actually one I’ve been hoping for for a long time. Karma is used to being the big sister and is more experienced in these things, so let her lend a hand, Marvel!)

You deserve this too, Illyana!

(The reading guide I’m following to stay chronological doesn’t include the digital-only stories, but I think I can nearly read “Karma in Love” now! Been looking forward to that one.)

Love these two together more and more—two inveterate worriers who are so good at what they do that when they team up, they barely have the chance to worry before they’ve already nailed it.

(That’s why I think Illyana never complained about Scott putting her in a suicide bomb vest way back when. They were like: “Yeah, if l were you, I’d worry about me too.” “I respect that. Doesn’t change anything, but I respect it.” “You can’t be my bestie because that role is eternally taken, but maybe you can be my surrogate dad.” “Oh no, now I’m really worried about/for you! Stick close to me forever.”)
