I hate YouTube. I’ve re-rendered the video 3 times now and there’s always some new thing that gets copyright claimed.

Thankfully, my new PC renders videos really fast, so I won't have to commit violence like whenever I got frustrated making videos on my old craptop.

Is it wrong that I can imagine at least a few of the other contestants laughing a little at Louisa’s complaints. But when she might get upset they explain that it’s kind of relieving to have someone voicing normalish issues in this fucked up situation?

That is SUCH a cute idea! She'd start to laugh off her initial feelings of being upset and feel happy that she's still capable of feeling stressed out in such a situation.

She hasn't lost her humanity, and neither have her friends.

Something I really appreciate about the writing in Termina is that even though the characters are in a death game, only a handful of them ever actually participate.

You get official artwork like this, where everyone's just going nuts with fighting each other (while Olivia takes a lil nap and they woke her up, how rude)

But then in the game, your party is apprehensive if you fight someone outright. If you kill, you're tied up.

Caligura is violent only behind closed doors. Pav is, well, Pav. August participates because his mustache is filled with lies and can't handle that Tanaka is the most handsome boy, and killed him in cold blood. Henryk poisoning PRHVL Bop was done out of paranoia.

There are way more acts of compassion among the contestants in the game. Marcoh and Tanaka getting the wheelchair for Olivia. Henryk making food for the crew back at the train. Daan being a bartender at the Bop. Abella is more than happy to try and repair the train. All sorts of helping out each other.

I dunno where I'm going with this. I just think it's sweet to see the characters cooperate even as they're facing the possibility that they may turn on each other. There's an implicit trust in one another.

It's a free game engine used to create visual novels! Doki Doki Literature Club was made with it, for example. I've wanted to make my own video game for years now, and I've tried making it in Godot and RPG Maker, but failed both times because I don't really have the patience to code. Ren'Py seems very user-friendly so far.
