Yes Jason was originally younger. He became Robin at 12 when Dick was 19 in Pre Crisis, then after Crisis on Infinite Earths, Dick's 80s origin in The Brave and The Bold mentioned to Joey that he was 20 while they're in Tamaran and he was 10 when his parents died.
A Lonely Place of Dying mentioned that Tim was 3 at the time of Graysons death, 13 in the present, so only 10 years has passed since then, making Dick only 20 when Jason died, and making Jason only 13, the same age as Tim
Which makes sense if you think about it brand wise, to continue Robin right where he left off
Dick's age also matches Wally, when he became The Flash he just turned 20, and Dick at most is a year older than Wally, he already dropped out of college when Wally was in the first year of college
Bat Timeline vs Bat Publication Timeline
I kept my receipts and citations here. Also, I used cover dates.
Neat things I noticed:
Nothing much happened in Gotham until Robin arrived both in continuity and in print history. Sorry but your lone wolf Batman doesn't exist :P
Dick permanently becomes Batman at the same age Bruce was when he became Batman; 25. Kinda poetic if you ask me.
Babs was Oracle longer than she was Batgirl in both continuity and publication history!!
Completely forgot that Dinah was literally her own mother once upon a time. Weird stuff.
There's not enough Jason!Robin stories to fit the 3 years some fans claim he was Robin for. Also the 3 years idea doesn't work if you track Dick's age. My guess is he was originally younger than 15 when he died but DC aged him up so he could be an adult when he returned as Red Hood.
It's pretty clear that Helena's integration into the group began the expansion of this complicated "family unit". She set the precedent for those noirish vigilante work relations.
Tim has to be a vampire if he's meant to be 17 three whole very explicit in-continuity years after he had his 16th birthday.
Stephanie has basically been in this gig as long as Tim! And almost as long as Helena too. Proper seasoned ass-kicker who Damian should look to for pointers.
Also remembered that Cassandra's Batgirl run is the best thing to come out of Gotham in the early 2000s.
I dunno I think the One Year Later timeskip was just unnecessary.
Kate and Renee are almost as new to the vigilante gig as Damian!
Bat-adjacent Rose Wilson was said to be 14 during her first appearance around Year 15 so she's the same age Tim.
Not Bat related but Lian Harper's age works with my timeline so yay! Born early Year 14, she's 5 during Cry for Justice in Year 19.
I have a theory, based off of Batman #416, that Dick graduated high school at 17. He says he was Bruce's partner for 6 years and that after he was fired; he left college after the 1st semester, then moved around the country, had his own adventures, and "eventually" ended up with the Titans. Also, he was 21 during the Titans' 3rd anniversary (New Titans v2 #71) and 19 when he became Nightwing (Tales of the Titans #44) so the Titans (re-)formed when he was 18. This means he probably only turned 18 in the academic year he began college (or has a summer birthday). So he was Bruce's partner from ages 11-17, did his own thing for a while as he did in the 70s, eventually joined the Titans at 18, and became Nightwing at 19. Jason comes into the picture soon after Dick retires the Robin identity.

Oh right
The Dick and Donna arc launch right after Scott Snyder began his Everyone vs Perpetua arc
So at that point the road to 5G is starting but while fans annoyed by some changes, overall people weren't (that) negative
Also yeah the Justice League comes off very hypocritical especially since the Evil Future Donna Paranoia arc came after the Justice League got possessed by Eclipso as the climax of JL vs Suicide Squad arc
I never find out why Dan Abnett decided to go with these arcs even before the 5G initiative because during the Road to Rebirth Justice League issue everyone thought that Dick is set up to lead Justice League so Dick/Titans fans got positive impression of Abnett
I mean obviously the JL is set up as an antagonist and Titans are in the right, but like, why do you have to go about it this way and make them as annoying and condescending as possible
This might biased because I don't like the new 52/beginning of rebirth but I don't really like titans Rebirth (I'm at the point where the team completely was dismantled by the justice league and about to be rebuilt as a offshoot of the justice league with only Dick and Donna)
Part of it is because this was my first time reading Roy post new 52 and the lack of anything connected to Lian in his life just makes me want to scream (and also his stupid hat).
Part of it is because... They are telling us the Titans are friends but they... Are not really not showing us that. The only time I felt like they showed us they were friends was during the annual vs the justice league (which was good). They know each other, they just figured out they are all childhood friends, make them hang out in and out of the costumes.
For example, one issue of Nightwing (2016) with Damian and Roy was more effective to show us that Dick and Roy are friends than the entirety of the Titans runs.
Also I just thought the dismantlement of the team was extremely infuriating because the justice league felt incredibly condescending to a team of grown ass independent superheroes.

Do you want the behind the scenes too because it is messy
This is gonna be REALLY long even though I already cut a lot
Part 1 - What Rebirth Was
At the start of Rebirth, the people in charge of New 52, Dan Didio and Jim Lee, admitted that they're missing stuffs from New 52, people/fans are missing the characters they know
The plan of Rebirth is to bring back elements of what people recognize and the person they put in charge is Geoff Johns who successfully brought back Barry Allen and Hal Jordan with his Flash and Green Lantern Rebirth stories. That's how they get the Rebirth brand.
So with that simple concept, they put Dick back in Bludhaven, Tim is in the same team with Steph and Cass, Lois is married to Clark again, but within the framing of new continuity, because they also don't wanna lose the fans they got during New 52
(Some bonus quirkiness is WB demanding Damian in Teen Titans, because of the DVD movie, so they age him up to 13)
The move was a success. There's some protest that they're not exactly the same as post crisis but pretty much people receive it better than New 52.
The books still need to be published while they bring back old continuity elements, and they also want to incorporate Watchmen to DC continuity, so Johns crafted the Doomsday Clock arc, beginning with the revelation from Wally who's lost in time during New 52 that Dr. Manhattan was responsible for the continuity change
Part 2 - So Where is Doomsday Clock?
Except Geoff Johns also became an advisor for Zack Snyder movies and Arkham Knight, so he's getting busy, and Doomsday Clock is delayed
The story has to go on as usual but at this point things are still fine, then things started happening in quick succession
Snyderverse movies is flopping in the eyes of WB, and Geoff Johns is dropped from the movies, the last one he's involved in was Wonder Woman 1984 if I'm not mistaken, but at that time the story was only written
Don't know if related or not, but Geoff Johns then decided to step down as Editor in Chief, so he's no longer in charge of Rebirth, and just focus on writing.
He only stayed long enough to finish the supposed-to-be timeline fix Doomsday Clock, and then work on Three Jokers and Shazam
Three Jokers as set up by Rebirth was supposed to be a main story, but at this point they decided to make it off-continuity.
So what happened?
Without Geoff Johns around to help fix Rebirth and Doomsday Clock delayed, this means Dan Didio has full rein on DCU once more and the fun begins
Part 3 - The 5G Initiative
Now, Didio did learn his lessons. He knows that certain characters are popular, fans don't want history erased, and Legacy is important.
So he crafted a new DCU timeline, incorporating as much history of DC stories into one timeline, divided into 5 generations of heroes, which he calls 5G
The end goal of 5G is to jump into the future and tell the story of adult Jon Kent and Damian Wayne. This is done because Didio wants new, queer, disabled and ethnically diverse young heroes and focus on that. There will also be series on the older heroes, dubbed Generations 1-4, they're just not the main focus, all characters from those gen will be grouped into at least one series each.
So Three Jokers, as it was, no longer important, and by the time Doomsday Clock is finished, it was used as a teaser for 5G
Whatever Geoff Johns planned for Rebirth at the beginning never happens, and the future of DC is now left to Didio once again, and this is his plan
Except of course he missed the point of legacy and diversity and want Damian Wayne to be the next Ra's al Ghul and fight Jon Kent Superman as the main hero and villain of 5G
So that's where everything's going
Part 4 - WHAT HAPPENED?! (5G but we didn't know it yet)
Two people Didio love are Scott Snyder and Brian Michael Bendis
Scott Snyder was successful financially and socially with New 52 Batman, so now he's given the rein of Justice League and the whole Multiverse, preparing the ending of Rebirth and the continuity change leading to 5G
So he started his Everyone vs Perpetua + Batman Who Laughs mega arc, the intro of which also introduced the concept of Damian unsatisfied with Bruce's method
Teen Titans will handle the rest of Damian's extremism journey, confusing everyone who's been liking this book, because the 5G reason is not revealed until years later
Brian Michael Bendis, because, I don't know, the fans joke that they're both bald and like to shake the status quo
Anyway, he's given the job to shake the status quo of Superman who's recently stabilized with Dan Jurgens fixing Superman timeline and Tomasi writing the follow up Superdad and Super Sons
Bendis is ordered to age up Jon Kent to 17, which left the popular Super Sons series cancelled (but too popular to be cancelled permanently, they kept bringing it back as flashback mini series, young adult novel, a movie and web comic)
Other writers are also hired to prepare the new diverse 5G Justice League
DC began publishing stories about the native brazilian Wonder Girl, the black Batman, black and latin Green Lantern (yes, more, but younger), the disabled Flash, the baby Aquagirl and so on (Jackson Hyde is already gay at the start of Rebirth, he's ready lol, just need to make him Aquaman)
However all these young heroes preparation means less resources to existing heroes, and because Didio hates adults power copy heroes, this means Fab Five
So then everything I said happened to Fab Five happened over the course of one and a half year
Bear in mind, during this point fans perceive Wally as an important character for Doomsday Clock arc, the symbol of Legacy as perceived by Geoff Johns, but now Doomsday Clock finished without him having any important role, a launchpad to 5G
Then things change again
Part 5 - Course Correction? Overcorrection?
Didio was fired by Warner Brothers
Reported for extreme micro management that's borderline abusive by many employees
Jim Lee is left as the sole Publisher, but he's never that much involved in storytelling direction, so with both Didio and Johns gone, that leaves the current architect of continuity change, Scott Snyder, and his main helper, Joshua Williamson
The story of Rebirth is nearing its end, and well... Joshua Williamson, who was in charge of Flash, loves Wally West, Damian Wayne, and Dick Grayson, and Scott Snyder, even though he never actually said it, fans got the idea that he likes every characters
SO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS
5G is cancelled
Just like that
After one and a half year of amnesia, Dick's memory returned, and Snyder immediately gave him the leader position of Justice League he wanted to do at the beginning and Titans is allowed back in Nightwing book
Damian's story of extremism, instead of becoming like Ra's al Ghul, is redirected to be about misplaced anger and grief following Alfred's death at the hands of Bane, and the story moving forward becomes a father and son rift and reconciliation, since Bruce was the one ordering Damian to be the bait for Bane, which Williamson will take charge and still going today because when he said Damian is his favorite, he means it
Something also need to be done with continuity, so Williamson and Snyder who likes everything decided on
EVERYTHING MATTERS
Every story, from Action Comics #1 until today, including all alternate timelines, are part of one infinite time, one infinite Omniverse, divided by in-story cosmic and crisis interference that rewrites history and memory
Except from now on, everyone including civilians will realize that their history have been rewritten and remember their past lives in the form of memory flashes
Whether this is a good thing or not is still a contention among fans because
Every single method to justify mischaracterization or misremembering facts is now canon in story
PS - I forgot about Red Hood and Batgirl since they're not directly affected but
The author Scott Lobdell feels like he needs to shake up the status quo of Red Hood so he had Penguin found out Red Hood's identity, Jason shot him, which led him to be thrown out of Gotham by Batman, but no editorial mandate on that one, that's just him
Then because the overarching scenario with Perpetua had Luthor, her right hand man, wanting to build Doom army, he recruited Red Hood to train young supervillain, and then he had to go fight amnesia Dick once Joker War started
The last author of Batgirl wasn't invited to multiversal shake up meeting, so she's angry that her book still has to follow an editorial mandate, but I forget specifically what it was...
Could be Joker War since every bat books has to follow that... and she's not writing Batgirl after Rebirth so it could be that her arc and book was cancelled when Rebirth ends, but that's just speculation
Part of me wants to read the Ric Grayson arc because I am curious...
The other part feels like it's going to be me screaming in the void' "WHERE IS EVERBODY ? Nightwing is literally one of the most well-connected heroes of the community" and i'm just not here for that kind of frustration (again).
