My friend is doing her first DnD game she is DM...

What do I and my other friend do - give her siblings we are gonna play in her game. The Game is gonna be Candlekeep (as a frame work) - so all this weird magic honestly tracks.

Not just any siblings - An Aasimar and Tiefling - sisters - who's parents were power-hungry, inattentive wizards. The girls each have different "races" technically because their mother was exposed to different powerful magic while she was pregnant. The Eldest child - the still nameless Aasimar and then 11 years later my character - a tiefling named Drucilla.

Drucilla (aka Dru) is an Aberrant Mind Sorc. She would have been a Wild Magic Sorc if she hadn't come in contact with a powerful artifact their father was studying. Being a young child (we are thinking 6-8) she was curious and home with her older sister, who like most older sisters was paying half attention. But Dru ends up getting into her father's study and picks up this artifact... as she does the entity that was stored inside it - takes over the little girl's body. The entity's power twists little Drucilla's magic and her own form. She was a pale pink tiefling as a small child but once the entity becomes one with her - she becomes a violet-skinned tiefling. The only person who was witness to the destruction that Dru commits (well the entity does) is her sister - who from that moment on starts trying to cover up what happened, Blaming herself for not paying better attention.

Her sister I think my friend said is either just gonna be an inquisitive Rogue or Rogue/Warlock multiclass.

Dru is kinda of a Jeckle/Hyde situation - most of the time she is a fairly "normal" type of girl. A little stuck-up comes from wealth that is now all but gone. Is being forced to take work for the first time in her life. But when she loses control of the entity inside her it takes over and destruction follows. Her sister is trying to find out how to "fix" her sister (and has for the last 10 years), going to extremes to find answers (like maybe taking a Warlock pact).

I am very excited for the angel and devil sisters as we are jokingly calling them. I have wanted to play siblings with one of my friends in a DnD game for so long - I really just wanted us to maybe be like silly siblings maybe a pair of Bards or something but this honestly is gonna be so much more interesting than a pair of bards that sing "Sisters" from White Christmas.

honestly re-country (cuz I do enjoy rap a lot)-

It depends on the song, era, and style of the country music. I tend to enjoy more female country musicians of years gone by (Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, the icon herself Dolly). But like modern country music sung by white men has little place in my listening rotation.

Also I am not huge fan of deeply religious overtones to my music - so that's why a lot of country music still gives me pause.

It really has nothing to do with class - cuz I am and always have been poor af working class. But where I have grown up - mostly Black areas and cities (because my mom married into a black family when I was very young) the songs that resonate more with the struggle of living in the areas I did - are often found in rap/hip hop/RnB not Country.

There are many very talented country music writers, one of my good friends plays country music and is very passionate about it - it's just not my cup of tea tbh. I won't complain if someone else is playing it though.

But that new Beyonce song slaps like a mofo.

Why as a mother - I despise mother's day

This is deeply personal to me and not everyone else's experience. This is only my second mother's day technically "Single" but honestly I have been a single mom since my son was born. Even when his dad was in the picture.

He never gave me gifts for mother's day, or even despite our son having a lot of medical issues that I manage - myself. No nursing no outside help from friends or family. Certainly no help from him. The two actual "mother's day gifts" were both phones the newest one I can't even use cuz he forgot i need a sim card - because he changed his phone plan and it was convenient. This year - I found out he also put the 20-something plaything he moved in after she got fired for stealing and kicked out of her parents house for selling drugs and is the reason he hasn't seen his son for more than few hours in a year and the reason he was so high on his kids birthday he forgot to even text me to tell his kid happy birthday - on said phone plan. With a more expensive phone and setup than I have. Ya know...cuz the one sucking his dick is obviously more important than the mother of his child.

The only people in my life who have ever made me feel special on Mother's day are my friends. For Real. My best friend - got me my first Mother's day gift a few years ago. A watercolor pallet, brushes, a few little shower steamers. These weren't insane gifts - they were thoughtful from someone who knows me. Another friend, who happens to be one of my DMs this year insisted on buying me Hades 2 on Steam because I said "I am avoiding the content on it cuz I know I can't afford it." My friend buying me a game, made me cry.. That same best friend - helped me pay for my computer repairs so I am not cut off from the world entirely.

Each year, when I see friends who are also moms getting flowers, having breakfast made for them, and being treated like decent humans by their partners. I am reminded why I made such a shit choice for the father of my kid - because I saw my mother be treated just like I was and thought - this is normal. It's not. It's abusive. I was raised in abusive family - and thought that abuse was love.

Now that I am away from all that - all Mother's day is a reminder of how women in my life (myself included) were never really valued by the men the chose to love and give children to. That the only people who genuinely care about the mental health and wellbeing of mothers are their friends.
