I also love leitmotifs that reveal things that the characters don't necessarily realize. Like, Epic the Musical has (what's supposed to be) a scene between two people, but one of the leitmotifs played in the background belongs to Hermes, who's not visibly there or at the very least not supposed to be. And later when Hermes reveals some information that he couldn't have gotten if he wasn't there, all the music nerds listening to it are like "oh that's why that leitmotif was there". Then again Hermes is the messenger of the gods so he kinda gets into places he's not supposed to, all the time.
leitmotifs never get old to me like holy shit dude there’s this melody that corresponds to this one guy and if you hear the melody it means the guy is there. holy shit. and sometimes it refers to ideas too not just guys. has anyone heard about this

I've only used VR, but on my next SCA event trip I'm about to cross DSB and SJ off the list since I'm taking the Öresundståg from Copenhagen to Malmö.
GUYS! 🚆🚂🚞
I've seen this bingo on twitter and I think there is definitely a group here that needs to play it too!

The internet is flooded with AI-generated photos and they're getting harder to spot.
Most of the time AI is used for click-farming, but lately images have been used in fake news stories and product scams.
Most important: THINK CRITICALLY. AI will eventually get too good to make obvious mistakes. Being media literate means checking not just if an image is real, but if the source is trustworthy.
If you're not sure, don't share! You might be spreading misinformation.

After raising the price of COVID-19 vaccines more than four-fold this year, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla told investors Monday that the company will also likely hike the price of its lifesaving COVID-19 antiviral treatment, Paxlovid, raising further concern about access and healthcare costs.

Getting scammed fucking sucks. I got scammed out of almost 250 dollars, and felt really bad about it for a really long time. Now that I finally got the product I was trying to buy when I got scammed, this time from a reputable store, I feel so much better.
I could never be scammed out of $50,000 because I simply do not have $50,000

MP is often used in Finnish (at least in my experience as a linguist and native Finnish speaker) about fairly light topics. Like, i don't think I've ever heard anyone say something like "MP toinen maailmansota?" or "MP alkuperäiskansojen oikeudet?" (Opinion on WWII and indigenous people's rights, respectively). Or if that kind of questions are asked, MP is used ironically or sarcastically.
In finnish, the word for "opinion" is mielipide, from the word mieli - mind, and pide, which is a somewhat archaic form of pidike - a holder, support, clip, clamp. The word pide/pidike itself comes from the verb "pitää", to hold, or keep. So while nobody thinks of it in such poetic terms in everyday life, the finnish word for "opinion" essentially translates to being some sort of a mental carabiner or foothold in your mental scape that you can hold onto, grab for support, or attach things to keep them fastened.
And in finnish vernacular, especially online, it's often shortened to just MP, MieliPide - and you can ask peoples' opinions about things by just stating "Opinion: subject" to start a conversation. It's very succinct. For example, you can make a three-word statement:
MP: homoilu saunassa?
To ask the same question which in english is a far more long and takes more words: "What is your opinion on doing gay activities in the sauna?"

I am consuming a media, that's getting a new piece of media made of it (a movie that comes out in a few weeks). I'm also writing a master's thesis about all of this, a process which will take until the end of this year. So y'all can bet I'm gonna be insufferable about this at least until the thesis is done.
I am consuming a media and you are going to hear about it

Finnish people have a lot of stereotypes associated with different accents and the different parts of the country that those accents come from. Like: everyone in southern Ostrobothnia is a knife-wielding drunk who eats a lot of mämmi during Easter (Juha Mieto is a statistical outlier and shouldn't have been counted). Everyone in Savo is a laid-back hillbilly you can't get a straight answer out of. Everyone in Lapland is a reindeer herder, everyone in northern Ostrobothnia is Laestadian and/or somewhat incestuous, everyone in Häme is physically and mentally slow, etc.
And then I went to Sweden, started hanging out with Swedes more than Finns thanks to the SCA. And because I'm one of the only Finns at some events in northern Sweden, the Swedes have just kinda... mashed up all the stereotypes into one, because they don't know the different areas of Finland? And added some general stereotypes about all Finns on top of that? Like as a Finn, I'm supposed to be this coffee-drinking, salmiakki-eating, sauna-loving, knife-wielding, drunk, with an unintelligible Swedish accent and even more unintelligible native Finnish. And specifically because I grew up in the north I'm also supposed to be a vaguely incestuous reindeer herder. And when I'm almost none of these things (I'll let y'all figure out which ones I am and which ones I'm not), many of my Swedish friends are very enthusiastically trying to revoke my Finnish citizenship and figure out where I'm *actually* from.
The Swedes also just blurt out random Finnish phrases at me, especially after a few drinks. "Yksi kaksi kolme neljä ei saa peittää" and "hölökyn kölökyn" get really fucken tiring, really fucken fast.
if you give “stupid” characters rural/southern accents i don’t like you and if you give “smart” characters rural/southern accents but it’s a punchline i don’t like you even more

I've had a handful of teachers in my entire life that I've found hot. Apparently I'm still pretty asexual since I've never even thought of flirting my way to a better grade. I've just flirted with them for the fun of it.
