people say that the best feeling is when someone likes a thing you made but for me the best feeling is when someone likes a thing you recommended. if i recommend a thing and you tell me you liked it i am like I AM GETTING A GOOD GRADE IN RECOMMENDATIONS. one time i recommended a book on twt and like two years later mentioned it again and someone told me they bought it, read it, and it was their favourite short story collection they'd ever read bc of that rec and ngl i have been riding that high ever since

Hmmm. This is interesting. I'd never considered the idea he was lying before tbh.

I think he's mostly telling the truth. I do not, however, think he included Rodimus in this, because his mind was made up about wanting to oust Rodimus before Megatron was even put on the ship; even if Rodimus said 'fuck Megs, let's oust him', Getaway's goal was not actually originally about Megatron, but Rodimus, and I absolutely don't believe for a second he would have remotely considered changing tactics to get back at Megatron specifically by asking Rodimus. His primary problem, no matter what he claims, remains Rodimus more than Megatron. So why bother even asking him, hah.

(I can also see him skipping Mags, out of feeling like even asking is pointless- but otoh, I love the fact a scrapped idea was that Getaway would court Mags as a possible ally while playing on his dissatisfaction with the leadership and insecurities, so...)

Transformers fans, I think is very important when discussing Kiss Players to avoid coming across as if it was an unavoidable result of the inherent perversion of the Japanese people. trope comparison: hurt/no comfort & detective/noir AU?

(also interested in what you think about epistolatory fic, but not sure that's really a trope...)

hurt/no comfort my beloved. i have to pick it, but in the hands of someone who knows the genre i DO love a noir au i cannot lie. however, hurt-no-comfort still wins because i LOVE a fic that doesn't pull its punches and is just like 'RIP!!!', haha.

i am exceedingly fond of epistolary fiction! this taraprowl fic drawing on Dracula is a fave of mine for its commitment to the epistolary format. this postcanon fic also uses it very very well. it's great, i love how you can implicitly convey things in ways direct conveyance isn't able to.

time travel fix-it fic vs sick fic (blorbo has the flu variant)

oh i rarely bother with fic self describing as 'fix it' most of the time anyway, let alone something as inevitably hand-wavey as most fics that shove in time travel just to facilitate it- really not what i'm usually going to fic for. sickfic gets this one by default! it can be funny and/or cute, why not.

h/c all the way. tbh it is very difficult to sell me on "found family" as a driving trope in a story- a lot of the time i find the execution unconvincing and overly sentimental. on the other hand i LOVE to hit all my favourite characters in the metaphorical kneecaps with a baseball bat, so. no brainer tbh.

ask meme: fake dating vs arranged marriage

in both instances, my favourite is the very rare version where it's gen fic and no actual romance occurs, buuut that barely exists and realistically both of these tropes tend to be ship tropes.

so, fake dating. it's usually a lot funnier and gives you wayyyy more room to breathe in terms of coming up with ideas for the fic, while i tend to find arranged marriage fics much more same-y (because by default, the reasons an arranged marriage would happen tend to be more limited, i think)... so yeah, fake dating.

but again my FAVOURITE is fake dating when they do NOT have ANY feelings for each other, it's way funnier to me and the lack of a foregone conclusion is even better for variety imo!
