@yoruqueenofnightsims Ah I think I get it now! Sorry - language barrier kicks hart sometimes :) and I just realized that I didn't need to explain to you because you already know how to mod :D
Tbh I don't think I will do a mod like that because I wanted even more and less neutral poses to chose from. But editing the Animation State Machine is not that difficult if you know what to look for.
The first gallery thumbnail generating is handled in the ASM with the instance 606E21551C25836A. You need to use the game file cruiser in S4S to find the original one.
You can collapse everything in the originial asm and scroll through it before start editing to get a feeling how it is structured. I did that and it helped me a lot when first fiddling with this.
The household situations themselves are limited to those states already in there like "Bassinet", "HoldBaby", etc. I tried to add a new one but failed unfortunately.

The standard poses in there are all called something like ***portraitThumbnail***. There are a minimum of two for a species/age/s*x/combination, but there can be more. You'd recognize it in the clip names.
For editing, just switch the standard clip names with the ingame/cc ones you want (ex. highlighted).

You also can delete all other choices and leave only one per species/age/s*x/etc.

I recommend to leave at least one choice for everything as the gallery might not work right when there are no poses for a sim. And - speaking out of experience - you need a compatible pose because otherwise the sim trying to use an incompatible one t-poses or shrinks/stretches awfully.
As for the poses I found so far they are even less neutral than the original ones imo as they are mostly from photography interactions. So there are only few vanilla poses to begin with unfortunately. Most of the clips are animations which don't suit the purpose of course. But I am still in the progress of going through the game clips. Maybe I'll find some poses you might like :)

I don't do pose overrides. If you want pose replacements of the existing ones, I recommend this page to find some really nice ones:

Thank you for all those great mods and tools you made for us to enjoy. The community will never forget you
RIP, CmarNYC
I’m very sad to report that Sims 3 and 4 creator CmarNYC passed away in October 2023. For 15 years, Simmers benefited from Cmar’s long-honed computing skills as she created much-loved modders’ and players’ tools, including the Sims 3 and 4 MorphMakers and Skininators, the TS4 SimRipper, the Sims 3 XCAS core mod, and many CAS sliders. She was also a contributor to S4PE, which likely was used by creators you rely on. Without Cmar’s work, the Sims franchise would have had a much less rich array of mods and custom content. She will be greatly missed.
As well as Sims, Cmar loved cats, and donations are suggested to the ASPCA, the TinyKittens Society, or an animal-related charity near you.

I was mod testing after the patch yesterday and I simply forgot one of my first mods I made some years ago..
It is a personal one with some guitar song addons. The tunings are a mess but it still works :d .. I liked the way my test sim played one of the songs so I recorded it <3
I wish I could release the mod but I used unplugged cover versions I found online and I don't have the links anymore. So I won't be able to credit the artists :((

hello i am so confused how to use the roof override. how many files can we add to the mods folder? what is the difference between the BG file and the EP files? how do we know which files are which patterns? where do i find them in game and how do i apply them? please help!! <3
Hey dear!
Sorry that I got you confused with the packages! The letter codes you see in the file names stand for:
BG = Base Game
EP06 = Get Famous
EP07 = Island Living
EP09 = Eco Lifestyle
EP10 = Snowy Escape
EP11 = Cottage Living
EP14 = Horse Ranch
GP06 = Jungle Adventure
GP12 = Werewoles
You just put those files into your mods folder, for which you have the addon. So you surely have the Base Game, you put the "BG" file into your mods folder.
If you also have one of the mentioned Addons, you put the corresponding file into your mods folder too.
Every file works independently. If you only want the roof underside patterns to show up for i.e. the horse ranch roofs, you only use that file and delete the others. If you want all of them, just put everything into your folder.
Those files override the original EA roof patterns that don't have their underside texture enabled. There aren't any new patterns. I just enabled an option so the originals show textures at their undersides too, like some of EA roofs already do. You can find all roof pattern in their build mode category (nb. 9 in the pic):

So you don't need to do anything, beside putting the files into your mods folder and start up your game. As those are overrides, all roofs (even those of already existing lots/houses) will show the underside patterns now.

Something I would love to see in the Sims 4 is a system to define different areas on a lot, which could be used to create small apartment complex, townhouses, or even lots with multiple lot type. Even something more simple with only residential areas would be nice, it would allow us to create the types of housing I mentioned above (these are really common type of housing in real life, I can’t understand why we still can’t create them, we can only pretend).
(I made the screen in Photoshop, this system doesn’t exist)

The Sims 4 For Rent pack
I am really hyped for the new Pack EA announced and I am starting to guess how those 6 appartments per lot might be implemented in build mode.
I think they might make use of the "sub lots" function of EL and HSY (but with 6 sub lots, not only 4). There might be a whole new system though of course.
As I am working on a mod for quite some time to make a lot change for seasonal events, I am really curious if I can make use of it :D
I will definitely get this pack on release. I really was waiting for making my own real appartments for a quite a long time. I loved appartments in sims 2 and I remember building custom appartments in sims 3 was more complicated but I still enjoyed it so much. I am happy that EA decided to make this possible in sims 4 again. I don't want to miss the appartments in CL and EL. But they are just so so limited...
...And I just read something about a cheat to increase the 6 rentable areas to an unknown higher number??? I am just speechless. Finally I can make use of those big a** 64x64 lot with smaller homes :D

Hey everyone! I just wanted to drop by and let you know that I am still there :)
Sorry for my silence here. Me and my fiance moved recently and we had so much to do in our new home before moving as well as to renovate the old one... So I didn't find any time to work on my projects. I hopefully will resume next week to get this backpack wip finished (and of course work on my other wips again). I just need our provider to get our internet working again :D

WIP: Wearable backpacks for your sims
As soon as I saw the new sdx with backpacks I felt the need to make them wearable. I still need to fine tune the weights on male frame sims, making the child sim version and fixing all the morphs. But I feel happy that it's possible and that my first ever CAS item is somewhat okay enough that I can show for now :)
Edit: Forgot to notice that the CAS backpacks will have their own diffuse, which means your sims will still be able to wear their hats, accessories and clothes like they always do. They are compatible with all CAS items :D

The Sims 4: functional Deer Scare (Shishi-Odoshi)
[This needs Snowy Escape installed to work like intended!]
Those who read my rain chain post already know I really fell in love with japanese gardens and their effect on my mind and stress level. So I chose to make this as my very first animated object, including a custom water vfx.
This is a "shishi-odoshi" or a "deer scare" in English. It's a type of water fountain used in Japanese gardens with a bamboo tube constantly filling with water and emptying it, making a typical hitting sound when it strucks down. These were originally intended to startle any herbivores, such as deer or boars, which might be grazing on the plants in the garden. Today they are a part of the visual and aural design and are used primarily for their aesthetic value. And in a figurative meditative sense, their sound is also meant to remind us of the transience of time.
If you like to have those too in your ingame gardens, feel free to add them and enjoy soothing and meditative moments!

...But I know that there are times one likes to indulge in tranquility or because of other situations one would want to keep things silent, there is a "turn off" option to make it stop.
Also it will automatically stops when using game speed 3 to spare our dear nerves. As soothing as it is in normal speed it can get quite unnerving when the hitting occures so much faster.
The mod includes 6 different objects in a variety of colours, close to the original Snowy Escape fountain. I also added some slots to the fountain object for an easier placement :)
You'll find everything in the "fountain decoration" category in BB (or you just search for my name).
Also this mod NEEDS Mizoreyukii's Custom VFX Resource to show the water flowing out of that bamboo tube and to make it compatible with custom vfx of other creators.

I did some minor changes to the objects BuildBuy descriptions for a uniform appearance as I a will upload my next object within the next couple of days and I like to have it visually matching.
There is no harm in using the old one as I didn't change anything else.

The Sims 4: functional Kusari-Doi (Rain Chain)
[These need Snowy Escape and Seasons installed to work like intended!]
Some years ago I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to backpack through middle and southern Honshū (Japan). There I got to appreciate the peace and quite in different gardens I visited. With this came times the weather wanted to mess a little with my plans but even then I enjoyed being there just for these little traditional architectural details one could find everywhere. The rain chains put me to rest more then one time. And I missed them dearly when Snowy Escape dropped in 2020.
So I added some water effects when it's raining ingame. And I detachted it from wall-slotting to roof-slotting.
There are 3 different heights available* because of different slopes roofs can have. For further heights adjustments I dearly recommend using the "bb.moveobjects on" cheat.
*If some of you like to have even lower height options, please let me know.

I made these objects to place in an offset of 0.5 in x and y direction to its center. This makes it easier to place a chain as far at an edge as possible witout fiddling too much with the alt key. EA also made sure that everything placed one tile nearer to the trim, the object will default to some lower ceiling heigt which makes it impossible to slot it directly on the roof at that specific place. So this is my version of a work around. (To see what it looks like if you ever try to place something directly at the edge, I have an example pic under the cut)

This mod extends the name template list of the game for random Sims naming. If you're not using German localization ingame, this mod won't change anything for you in CAS!

Diese mod fügt dem Zufallsgenerator im Spiel viele neue Vor- und Nachnamen hinzu. Sie überschreibt die "Sim.spawner" Ressourcen, sodass mehr Vor- und Nachnamen für Sims jeder Herkunft zur Verfügung stehen.
Die Namen erscheinen im CAS, wenn der Zufallsgenerator benutzt wird. Ebenso greift das Spiel bei der Neugenerierung von Townies, NPCs und magischen Begleitern auf diese Namensliste zurück. So entsteht eine große Variabilität an Sims, ohne, dass jeder Dritte denselben Vor- oder Nachnamen trägt.
Es handelt sich hierbei um einen Override!! Andere mods, die dieselben Spiel-Ressourcen überschreiben, stehen mit dieser mod in Konflikt!*

Hinweis: Kühe, Hühner, Vögel und Hasen (Landhaus-Leben), sowie Zwergschafe und Zwergziegen (Pferderanch) und kleine Haustiere (Mein erstes Haustier-Accessoires) erhalten ihre Namen nicht durch diese Listen. Sie gelten (anders als alle in den Spawner-Listen aufgeführten "Sims") als "Objekte" ("GameObject"), deren Namensvorlagen direkt in den Objekt-Tunings zu finden sind. Die mod überschreibt solche grundsätzlich nicht!

This mod is still working with the latest patch of 18 July 2023 (game version 1.99.264.1030).
I updated Radiophobe's Balanced Rewards mod (version 1.97) as to include price adjustments for two rewards which still showed the original amounts:
