When I was younger and researching the autism diagnosis criteria and symptoms, I thought “oh I couldn’t POSSIBLY be autistic.” Because when I read “takes everything literally” I thought it literally meant EVERYTHING and I was like “I don’t take EVERYTHING literally, just most things!” And I just realized the other day that it didn’t actually mean EVERYTHING and that was an overstatement.

Do you ever talk to someone and they bring up trans men and it becomes very clear very quickly the only trans men they have talked too are the rich white trans guys who can afford to fully transition at a young age and didn’t have to deal with most of the shit other trans guys had too.

Like no I don’t think the dude who got top surgery at 16 is an accurate representation of every single trans guy ever.

there are some internet friends where eventually you start calling them by their real name and then there’s times where its like nah son your name is crispy forever

It becomes very clear when people only consider trans people who are white, skinny, pass perfectly, and are stealth as ‘real trans people’

People talk about trans men and it becomes clear they aren’t counting non-passing trans men, pregnant trans men, fat trans men, and trans men of color.

I see this from other trans guys so much. So many other trans guys will act like they are better because they pass, they are white, they are skinny, and/or they don’t want to get pregnant. So they leave trans men of color, non-passing trans men, fat trans men, and pregnant trans men out of the conversation.

Ok so today I was on the bus with another trans guy and we were talking about how hard it is to get testosterone. The waiting lists, the price, all the doctors you have to go to, that kind of stuff. Except, we were calling it ’T’, like you do when you’re both closeted and in public.

Then suddenly the elderly lady sitting behind us was like ‘young men, either I’m going crazy or you both have never heard of supermarkets, they have shelves full of tea there! Do you need directions to one?’

To which my buddy starts to explain, because why not. ‘Well you see, we’re both trans, and… ’

The lady didn’t wait for him to finish his sentence. ‘Oh no, I don’t mind that at all! Now do you want to know how to get to a place that sells tea? I’m actually heading there right now!’

We let her take us to the supermarket. We let her show us, excitedly, where the tea was. We both bought loads.

im sorry but the reveal that chilchuck is only there because he was paid in advance is so fucking funny. because like. he stays on the adventure WELL beyond what i would consider the reasonable expectations of his contract. but chilchuck will Follow his Professional Obligations right up to the letter and not a step further. we goof on him a lot for (rightfully!) putting Himself before Work and being a union man but lets be real mans is dedicated to his fucking job and obviously takes it very seriously.

ok i was gonna make a joke but honestly i think this is such a refreshing take on work and labor. like, in a lot of fiction, someone taking breaks, refusing to go beyond their obligations, and insisting on payment upfront is used as shorthand for them not taking their work seriously or not caring or cutting corners. but like. a responsible work life balance is absolutely essential for anyone who actually genuinely cares about their work. it's the only way to stay productive and healthy in a field you love.

its just. man. dungeon meshi has so much to say about life and passion. about health. about how taking care of yourself and pushing yourself to your greatest heights, either personally or professionally, are not two choices in conflict but essential to each other.
