the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.

Nico di Angelo had been Will’s personal hair and makeup artist since the start of Will’s last tour, when Will’s former artist - a perfectly nice middle-aged woman whose name was something like Noreen or Doreen - had had a family emergency that kept her off of the first few stops on tour. Nico had been a local artist available on short notice, short enough to need Will’s styling chair at its lowest setting but with enough attitude that hardly anyone paid any mind to his size. 

He worked miracles with a makeup brush, and his hands felt like heaven in Will’s hair. Paired with the angel in his name, Will was convinced that Nico was a gift from God himself. So, of course, when (N/D)oreen’s family emergency turned into a slightly more permanent issue, Will was eager to suggest offering Nico a full-time position on tour. And the next one. And any one-off events that might spring up in between. (And Will’s hand in marriage, though that was probably a bit dramatic.)
