Drew sighed, remembering his conversation with his brother. “Akemi, your dad is here for you.” He called out for the little girl, “he’s busy.”

“That’s cute. ” Dominic sniffs one cookie and eats it, just to know what kind of taste to expect, so he can school his features for when Akemi is looking. “Oh. These are actually great.”  He finishes the cookie, buying some time before he has to answer. “I’m not. But I’m a little paranoid he’ll snatch Akemi, or something.”

“He would never snatch Akemi.” he said ignoring the fact that the man had had such little faith in his daughter’s cooking. “It sounds like he just wants to be in his life, and he’s not you, he knows kidnapping is not a good method of doing that.”

“She’s at school with enough kids her own age, don’t you worry your pretty little head.” Dominic looks at the cookies, who look a little wonky, until Drew explains their origin story. “Did you teach her?” he sounds as shocked as he feels. 

“The twins like to bake, we took a kid’s baking class together.” he explained, though of course he noticed the tone, “they’re simple chocolate chip...Lincoln mentioned you’re running away from your ex?”

“She did.” He said cautiously, “You should really have her spend more time around kids her own age, I think she spends too much time alone with you.” He said handing him one of him a little bag. “she baked some cookies.”

It’s a little after 7PM when Dominic finally makes it to the Beaumont-Wallace residence. “Hey. Sorry I’m late, a meeting dragged on. Did Akemi behave?” he asks, walking in to collect his daughter and all of her belongings. “Sorry I’m dropping her off at your place so often this week.”

“Well somewhere in this game of telephone, the facts are misconstrued.” It was so easy to pull Drew in, their noses almost touching, just like it always had been. “Of course you’re hot; objectively. I’d never want anyone else. You’re all I’ve ever wanted since I met you.”

“okay.” he relented, letting out a breath as he wrapped his arms around Lincoln’s neck, “I have time to blow you so you can cook and then I can pick the twins up.” he leaned in to kiss him, “but only because I love you and Dominic is crazy.”

“All due respect, how the fuck would Grey know?” Lincoln shook his head a couple times, then faster as Drew went on, hands moving from shoulders to cheeks. “Drew, please. Has all this time and my undying loyalty not gotten me any benefit of the doubt? Of course I’m in love with you, and I’m always gonna be in love with you. I don’t think you’re crazy, and you mean more to me than any friend I have.”

“Because Dominic told him!” he frowned, “but do you still think I’m hot?” Drew asked pulling Lincoln by his shirt, “Do you still want to spend the rest of your life only having sex with me?”

“Well Grey told me you did.” He groaned, “I love you, but I feel like you only treat me like I’m crazy and now your friends think so too. It’s just not the same as before. Are you even in love with me?”

He really should have known better by now; even repeating Drew’s own words back to him was a minefield. “Stop, please.” He moved to stand between Drew and the door, hands dropping onto his shoulders. “Don’t make me eat alone. I don’t wanna fight with you, and I don’t think you’re chubby, and I love you a lot. Please?”

Drew huffed, crossing his arms, “did you talk shit about me to Dominic? Why is he going around saying I scream at you and that all I do is lose my shit?”

He asked me to babysit and then told me to never come near his child again. My hypothesis is dementia since he’s due to expire soon.”

“He’s pretty weird, isn’t he?” he unwrapped a piece of gum and popped it into his mouth before holding the container out for Grey to take one, “he’s always alone except for the little girl, and honestly, I’m not sure that being raised by the grinch can be good for any child.”

“So now you’re saying I’m getting chubby. Nice one, Wallace.” He moved away as he picked up his phone, “I’m picking up the kids and the three of us are going to get pizza, see if you tell them to eat plant based too.”

“He said it was too far from the kid’s school, which is a dumb excuse but he doesn’t even want to consider it. He actually said he would rather move to a murder house.”

Kids don’t care about how many rooms their friends have, Drew. They care about their game systems.”

“I am telling him the truth! Why don’t you believe me? I hope you get haunted in your office or something, you deserve it.” he narrowed his eyes at Lincoln, “that’s such a lie, it’s like you weren’t even a kid. Remember who was the cool one growing up between you and me.”
