Each Facebook Timeline profile now has a tiny clock icon in the status window update, allowing you to place items on your wall in the past. This is a pretty significant Facebook update considering that, initially, Timeline defaulted to publishing posts in the present only. Now the decision to travel back in time is yours. This new feature mimics a blog platform's publish date option - except on Timeline, you can only pick the date, whereas on a blog platform, you can pick both the date and time.
With this new Timestamp update, along with everything Timeline-related, Facebook is hoping you will share more on its platform. We're edging closer and closer toward real-live lifestreaming. Timestamping new posts with an old date not only brings you closer to your Facebook past, it also encourages you to differentiate less between your offline and online lives. Timeline urges you to share more personal content, and make that content more social than it was on your old Facebook profile. Like everything Timeline-related, this update is only available to those who have used the Facebook Developer Timeline workaround. See the Timestamp update after the jump.

The Kindle Fire...Should You Get One?
By: Dez
So it’s late October, and my mind has begun to turn to plotting out Christmas gifts.  My beautiful wife, Jen has been hinting that she wants cool “stuff” for the occasion this year. I mean, who doesn’t want cool stuff?  So I thought…what to get?
My wife loves to play computer games.  Typically something small like solitaire or one of those gem shooting puzzle games.  I have to pry her off her Blackberry at night because she’s either playing cards or trying to read a book from it.  It looks like it hurts.  So I started to think, maybe a tablet is the way to go!
Should I get one?
Last week, I wrote an article about Mac vs. PC.  Here’s a quick update before I go forward.  I’m sticking with PC.  After I wrote that piece I realized how expensive it would be to switch to Apple products.  I produce music in my spare time and the programs I use, I’ve become accustomed to.  Buying a Mac right now would change everything and put a severe hole in my pocket.  So PC won.  Therefore, we will not be talking about everyone’s favorite tablet, the iPad.  Sorry for the sidebar guys…..
Anyway, I settled on looking at the new Kindle Fire from Amazon for a few reasons.  For those that don’t know, Amazon released a new version of their Kindle E-Reader, the Kindle Fire.  But it does more than a simple Kindle.  Let’s look at the reasons why I’m thinking my wife will be super happy with me on Christmas morning.
Price.  The Kindle Fire is priced at 199.00.  The iPad starting price is $499.00. Do I want to drop half a grand on a tablet that my wife will play games and read books on?  Umm…no.  At 199.00 I wouldn’t freak out if I caught my 6 year old daughter with it either.
Android.  The Kindle Fire is running an Android OS, meaning we can download apps from the  Android App store.
Cloud Storage.  The Kindle Fire will take advantage of the cloud storage program that Amazon is employing so you can store your books, music and movies there without having to store on the tablet.  Pretty cool.
Web Browsing.  Fire users can browse the web by using Amazon Silk the super fast web browser included with the product.
Color Touchscreen.  The Fire has a vibrant color touchscreen with an extra-wide viewing angle.  The screen is smaller than a iPad, however at 7” its wide enough to enjoy movies, literature and more.
Access to Amazon.  18 million movies, TV shows, songs, magazines and books.  I think my wife will wear this thing out.
Internet Connectivity.  Kindle Fire uses Wi-fi connectivity to access the web.
Drawbacks to the Kindle Fire?  There is no camera or microphone like on most tablets.  But since we’re about to upgrade our smartphones, I don’t think that will be a problem.  Since the Fire is Wi-Fi only, user can only surf the web when you have a connection.  But once again, since I can’t imagine Jen using this in the car, and our house is on a wireless modem, so it’s a win once again.  Battery life is only 8 hrs, down from 10 hrs from the iPad.
So this Christmas, my wife will open a box with a beautiful new Amazon Kindle inside.  Unless someone comes up with something cooler between now and December.  Which will set me up perfectly for when I come home with a more expensive, more powerful tablet….for myself.
