Words to replace said, except this actually helps
I got pretty fed up with looking for words to replace said because they weren’t sorted in a way I could easily use/find them for the right time. So I did some myself.

With Bated Breath
(Dorian & Thanuil - Short fic coming eventually)
.
It was no secret that Thanuil Aedanthir’melin Lavellan took to affection like a cat took to water.
So why was here now? Why did he have Dorian wrapped in a vice-like grip, as if he were afraid of coming untethered like a ship on stormy seas?
“You remind me of home,” Thanuil whispered finally, his lips tracing feather-light patterns against Dorian’s neck. “It hurts.”
Ah. The pain lacing his lover’s words sliced deeply into Dorian’s heart, quelling any thoughts he might have had.
Silently, Dorian reached up and returned Thanuil’s choking embrace. He turned his gaze towards the window, graciously trying his best not to acknowledge how Thanuil’s shoulders had begun to tremble.
