Yeah don't you hate when you suddenly and without explanation teleport to the middle of nowhere almost being run over by trains? Hate when that happens tbh

on a scale of "threw myself off a cliff for money 🤑" to "was thrown down the stairs of my murder dungeon by my interdimensional doppelganger 💀" how Darrien are you?

Was anyone going to tell me that Jonathan Sims, Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, London, was the one who narrated Slay the Princess, or was I just supposed to feel bad for thinking all British guys reading horror sounded the same by myself?

Celia I love you, waking up on the tracks and nearly getting hit by a train, flirting with your co-worker (who I'm not fully convinced you actually like) and self soothing with that whole "you're okay, it's okay"
What the fuck is up with you baby?? What the fuck is going on huh????

just put together another thing about georgie's decision making process in mag 121 / mag 122. she had presumably been regularly visiting jon, their last interaction had been her urging him to reach out to more people in his life and telling him he didn't have to distance himself from her, and when oliver leaves she goes to say something reassuring to his sleeping form, so I doubt she had been deliberately waiting for him to regain consciousness so she could formally end their friendship. what makes her change her mind is that she sees this man whom she can feel is associated with Death and who calls himself jon's friend and cryptically says "make your choice" before leaving room, and then jon wakes up, miraculously healed of any complications. it's not just that oliver's presence set her on edge, it's that she can tell that jon took some kind of deal from a representative of the force that nearly destroyed her life. it wasn't arbitrary, she knew that waking up like that represented a choice and a big turning point.

honestly I'm kind of with statement-giver-darrien on this one. the ending lines imo are trying to create a bit of an ironic tone where you go "smh he's just as bad as his alternate self, here he is trying to justify it by saying 'oohh but I give to charity'" and like, yeah, locking two people in a basement to die is bad (hot take, I know), but he seems to really lack that "I want people to be afraid of me" urge. it's in there, but he has made the conscious decision to reject it, and he treats sharon well. bar on the floor etc etc but in this instance I think I'm more willing to forgive a double murder than prolonged torture. winning the morality contest by being a few notches less evil.

while I can see vague jonmartin double characters being relevant at some point in the future, I would also be totally satisfied if this is the most we ever hear of them. it's nothing concrete, it might not be them at all, the beginning of the case didn't even take place in the main protocol universe, but still. it's a little nod to the idea that there may be somewhere where they meet like normal, in a situation where they would probably have cause to see each other for a few minutes every week. to me that is the perfect balance of open endedness with a gesture towards the possibility of a happy ending. I hope the nervous receptionist and the dastardly orchid stroker enjoy themselves.

If the two guys Darrien describes this episode really ARE alt universe Martin and Jon, it's funny how consistently Martin gets described as generally normal and kinda nervous from outsider povs meanwhile with Jon it's always like "imagine the most fucked up guy you ever saw. Just a real thousand-yard-stare type motherfucker. He's having war flashbacks in his head. Olympic levels of Wants to Go Home. He also kinda looks like a loser nerd? Oh and he probably wants to fuck orchids. Orchid fucker." Like damn, can't a guy have witnessed The Horrors™️ in peace??????
