To all the poems saying they don’t fall in love but lean into it must not know the terrifying feeling of truly falling.

Stomach dropping, grasping at air wondering how hard you’ll land. The terror that comes with falling in love or the absolute demise that can come after it.

Chest cracked open wide when you land, hoping you don’t bleed out. Pulling your ribs together for the fear of showing what truly lies inside of you.

No one prepares you for the amount of tears you’ll cry and all the doubt that will rush into your head. Deserving and undeserving pulling at each limb, which one will win?

I wish I could lean into love like you do. Love to me is a trust fall where no one might catch me. I can’t keep picking up my shattered pieces.

I fell in love with her courage, her sincerity and her flaming self respect and its these things I'd believe in even if the whole world indulged in wild suspicions that she wasn't all that she should be. But of course the real reason... is that I love her and that's the beginning and end of everything.
