Why Percy is so flustered: he saw a pretty flower on camp and went into the thought spiral of "this is the prettiest flower in camp and I should give it to Annabeth because she's the prettiest person ever" so he went around looking for flowers and imagining the smile on Annabeth's face when it suddenly hit him like "oh wait- I actually have to give her the flowers oh no-" and by the time he did he was already behind her so...

Headcanon: Annabeth and Rachel became friends as soon as Percabeth became canon. Annabeth was the first one to approach her, and Rachel immediately caught on and found it funny, but went with it anyways. Rachel kinda always knew she never stood a chance against Annabeth, so she was super chill about it. Percy was super confused because "Wise girl, I though you didn’t like Rachel..?"

Who do you think is the big spoon? Percy or Annabeth?

i don’t think they have like, an official big spoon. they both would cuddle the other. i can see annabeth always waking up at night and if percy is facing the other way, she just throws a leg over his hip or in between his legs and cuddles him from behind. but i do think percy is the big spoon 80% of the time, not just because he’s bigger and taller, but because in the books, annabeth always feels the most safe and loved when she’s in his arms. she says so herself. that’s why she always reaches for him when she’s upset, and has all her big breakdowns when he’s holding her. she craves to be held by him. (remember in the stables when she told him “just shut up and hold me, seaweed brain” lol). percy has always had lots of hugs and cuddles from sally, but annabeth never got that from her parents. she’s extremely touch starved. so on an emotional level, she just needs to be held more. and percy loves having her in his arms and knowing she’s safe.

“Luke had a point” well, that is kind of true, but he also groomed and (more than likely) abused Silena Beauregard, he tried to kill Percy when he was 12, and his last words to Annabeth were slightly weird, so go gnaw on that.

7-year-old Annabeth refusing to go to bed during her first month in the Athena cabin. Annabeth sitting up in bed, holding a pillow to her chest, as her eyes fill with tears because she's terrified that if she closes them, something will get her. Begging through her tears, asking her new siblings check under the bed to make sure there’s nothing there. Older campers keep trying to reassure her and checking, but she keeps insisting they're doing it wrong. A group of tired Athena campers sneaking out in the dead of night to drag Luke from the Hermes Cabin so he can get her to sleep. 7-year-old Annabeth flinging herself into his arms as she sobs because she's already lost so much, and now she doesn't even have her big brother watching over her.

i like to think annabeth can pick up percy

as they’ve gotten older it became harder since he’s taller then her and weighs more so like if he threw himself at her she might stumble and not catch him per-say but if he’s sitting or laying down she can lift with her legs and move him from one place to another

when they were younger she would do it much easier and it was the funniest shit ever

since she’d been training much longer then he was she learned to stand like a statue so he really could throw himself at her and she could do a pretty good job at catching him and walking around with him like a sack of potatoes

they probably found this out when he was fighting with clarisse at like 14 and they’d all had enough so selina pulled clarisse out and annabeth just kinda yanked him away and threw him over her shoulder

after this it became quite common annabeth did it mostly just bc she had a big fat crush on him and it was like the best way to get close to him and it was funny for everyone involved but it also became common practice for literally anyone to do this

charlie definitely did percy perched on his shoulders a lot but he couldn’t sway too much otherwise they’d both topple over and clarisse definitely did just bc she could but percy HATED that

i also think it took a while for percy to do it back like it was his GOAL for a long 4 years to manhandle them back

he’d randomly walk over to charlie grab him around the thighs and LIFT he’d get charlie a good foot off the ground and call that a win clarisse never let him actually get that far but by tlo percy could carry annabeth easily and it’s like one of his favorite activities now

especially if annabeths studying and not giving him attention (and it’s not smth that’s like deeply important) he’ll pretend he’s going in for a side hug but slip his arms behind her back and under her thighs before lifting her up and throwing her over his shoulder

or when she falls asleep in the grass at camp he’ll pick her up bridal style to a more comfortable area

they both have a habit of fake sleeping in uncomfortable spots just so the other will pick them up and move them

The best part of the percy jackson books is that from percy's perspective hes just an easygoing funny cool guy who seems pretty harmless but the moment you see him from someone elses pov hes terrifying. Just a crazy good fighter, a force of nature killing machine, literally gets mistaken for a god in disguise. But he doesnt see that side of himself at all because hes too busy arguing with authority figures and respecting women. I love him
