I see! Maybe less like a dog they deliberately looked to adopt then, and more like one of those stray cats who just turns up on your doorstep and waits to be fed. Except ten thousand times bigger.
It sounds similar to the Brodia vs Elusia situation in Engage, but on a more extreme level? Where people in Elusia worshipped Sombron, and Brodia used that as an excuse to attack them, so Elusia worshipped Sombron even harder and we all know how that ended. Seems like nobody realises that if you upset the Evil Dragon Cult, they might summon the actual dragon to intervene (which granted, they might have liked to try anyway, but now it's definitely happening with added motivation).
Oh, I recognise that dude! Pretty sure he was in Warriors too, doing the same kind of thing there. Next question then, how did Robin come to be Grima's vessel? Special bloodline thanks to open-minded ancestors, or they got chosen for a possession ritual, or mysterious unexplained destiny which will forever be obscured by the Plot Amnesia?
I've never played Awakening, but feel like I've picked up most of the plot via fandom osmosis. So here's a summary of my version. Feel free to agree, correct, or tell me outright lies to fill in the gaps, because I will be none the wiser.
We start with Robin getting found in a roadside ditch by Chrom. Robin has Plot Amnesia, and Chrom is one of those princes who takes justice into his own hands, wandering the country with a band of friends/servants/etc. Robin turns out to be a surprisingly good tactician, so they team up, and at one point they set fire to a bunch of ships but it's okay because they were The Enemy. The Enemy also kills Chrom's older sister in a vaguely Mikoto/Lumera-ish way, but that's more angsty for him than for Robin. Oh, and in this country the royal family have special marks called the Exalt brand? Anyway Chrom is the new ruler I guess, but then a girl shows up crossplaying Marth, she claims to be his daughter from the future and has an Exalt brand to prove it. She's very cool and pretty. She also warns that in the future, Robin turns into an evil dragon and destroys the world, which is not what anyone expected to hear. Unfortunately, Robin does then turn into an evil dragon and try to destroy the world. This is because of The Enemy in another country, who used dark magic to sort of engineer their apocalyptic god? Which also sounds very cool. They have a scary eldritch design with lots of eyes, but nobody really gets a chance to stand around and appreciate it. Inevitably there's an epic battle, but at the end of it Robin turns back to normal and they live happily ever after. Lots of people ship them with Chrom, I have no horses in that race though.
Am I close?
Okay so some corrections, because you kinda get it pretty well.
The ship thing is more or less a terrifying thing and only okay because it was literally desperation because an enemy nation from across the sea was wanting to come in and take over and get rid of all religion. A lot of people note only Walhart's hatred of the Grimleal, but he hates ALL religion. He wanted to get rid of Naga worship, too, and essentially destroy multiple cultures just because they didn't conform to his ego. I cannot stress how much of a disadvantage the entire continent of Ylisse was at even working together. The ships were set on fire because it was that or get steamrolled, but it's still kinda terrifying Robin even came up with this at all and Chrom just smiles and watches Robin do this.
Emmeryn dies way before that, though, by suicide--because she was captured by Plegia (specifically their tyrant king Gangrel, whose design Bothers Me because he has the same skin color as literal paper), set to be executed and the Shepherds, Chrom's militia,
Lucina didn't know at first that Robin and Grima were the same person. She does figure it out later, though. Grima hid his identity in the future.
Grima was also made way, way before Plegia existed, too, they just kinda... Adopted him as their god. He was made in a lab beneath Thabes, which was long gone before even Marth's time. (IIRC Echoes and Marth's games take place roughly at the same time? And Grima was made underground around the end of Thabes, I think? Which was... Like 1000 years prior. Also his creator decided to try and kill him as an infant because he had violent thoughts to which I ask Forneus if he's ever been around babies.)
Anyway you get the gist of a lot of it, but I def recommend playing Awakening with the gay mod.

Nodding and taking notes. So Grima's fan club just discovered an ancient evil dragon lurking underground, and went, "Hey, is anyone else gonna worship that? No? Okay, it's ours now."? Interesting choice if so. Was it more of an I Can Fix Him situation, like when you adopt a badly-behaved dog but you're pretty sure you can train it to be nice and not bite you, at least? Or an I Can Make Him Worse, where they knew that dog was going to bite everyone no matter what, and wanted to watch the world burn?
Yeah, the gay mod is the only way I could actually play Awakening, since the whole 'main characters have to marry and have kids' thing is what's kept me away until now. I've got a chip on my shoulder, from sitting through too much obligatory straight romance in older JRPGs.

Looking back on patterns of past banners for FEH, May is when we usually get Fallen Heroes, right? And I've mentioned before, I think Engage is the strongest contender for this year. Red Alear? Evil Veyle? Corrupted Lumera? Great Fell 'Nil'? We've got enough mentally unstable dragons for a full set right there!
I guess you could throw Sombron in, whatever, I'd rather see him as something like a Grand Hero Battle the way Zephia was though. I know other final boss types have made it onto Fallen banners before (Anankos, Rhea, Edelgard), but I respect all of them more than him. Don't steal the spotlight from your kids, you've done enough already.
Alear gets protagonist points to make their appearance more likely, and f!Alear also gets 'hot girl' points (because we know what FEH's priorities are). Veyle and Lumera get points for being female, but Mythic Lumera wasn't released that long ago, so maybe it's too soon for her to get another alt?
Rafal gets points deducted for being a male DLC character, but I can still hope and pray (if he has one fan left then it's me, if he has zero fans then I'm dead, etc.). I'd be happier to see him and Nel appear on a banner together, so she's not left out, and I suppose they could make up a Fallen version of her too. I like that she's the only one of the Fell Four we never see crushed under Sombron's influence though, and she deserves to keep that status. Maybe she could have a Mythic/Ascended/some other fancy version released near the same time? She could lead a banner, and have the Winds (Zelestia, Gregory, Madeline) as the other characters on it?
I was down to 200 orbs after pulling for Legendary m!Alear, and now I'm back up to 700+ in anticipation. Please don't disappoint me FEH. I deserve a little treat at this time of year.

tbh the fact that cats purr was an unnecessary bonus we don't always acknowledge. they're already cute and baby and little and soft and make silly noises and do funny shit. but they also like to cuddle and make a soothing pleasant noise to indicate they are happy when they cuddle you? huge. huge for the human race.

I'm in two minds about this. Because yeah, pointy ears and glowing eyes are awesome, every dragon in Engage should've had them. Artists who draw the Engage dragons with pointy ears, I love you all.
However...I think there's a significance in the fact that you can't immediately tell most dragons from humans, or Divine from Fell Dragons.
When Alear first meets Veyle, they don't even realise she's a dragon. They only see a lone girl who's looking for her lost sibling, because that's the most important and relatable thing about her character, in that moment. Pointing out her heritage would overshadow her individual self, not to mention spoiling later revelations (though I think that if Veyle did have any obvious visual traits that gave her away as a Fell Dragon, she'd make an effort to hide them anyway).
When Alear first meets the Fell Twins, the assumption is that they're Divine Dragons. Because it's impossible to tell Fell and Divine apart just through appearances. After all, Nel was living in Lythos Castle, fighting to protect the world and its people so they could live in peace. So how was she functionally any different than a Divine Dragon? She angrily corrects Alear's assumption, but in a way, are they entirely wrong?
One of the things that fascinates me with Engage is how they set up the simple, familiar idea of good dragons vs. evil dragons, but then they're constantly subverting that and blurring lines between the two. Like, it's such an important point that it became a key part of the protagonist's design.
Veyle uses 'foul' magic to raise Alear as a Corrupted, so they can save the world together. We don't know if Alear has power over either Corrupted or Fabrications, because they find both disturbing. Rafal's Fell Emblems mysteriously find their voices when Alear is present. Nel takes on the role of the Divine Dragon she loved, despite the ingratitude of people who can't see past her bloodline. Rafal brings Nel back to life through magic that's specifically referred to as prayer, and depicted with white light instead of red. Veyle's Fell Protection skill is a direct mirror to Alear's Divinely Inspiring, while Rafal's Spur Emblems skill directly counters Sombron's Dark Spirit (I love that the former Great Fell Dragon in your party has something useful against another Great Fell Dragon). It's also mentioned that in Xeno Elyos, both types of dragon were descended from a common ancestor. After the war, Pandreo starts a religion worshipping all dragons.
Lines blurring all over the place, far more interesting than solid black and white.
But anyway. I'd still prefer if Engage dragons had pointy ears, really. Veyle can hide hers under all that hair, if she wants to.
Kinda lame the other fell dragons didn't get any of Sombron's inhumane traits in their human forms. They should have had pointy ears and glowing eyes.

things to ask yourself when designing a female character:
how much blood is she covered in
are her eyes filled with madness
can she rip things to shreds with her fingernails

I love Rafal Fire Emblem so much. I hate him. I want to make out with him in a closet. I want to gently cradle his face and wipe the blood off with a washcloth. I get unbelievably horny for him when I’m ovulating. He’s never done anything wrong. He’s incapable of doing anything right. He tries to amend his past actions while simultaneously being an unrepentant cunt. He is my pretty pretty princess and the most heinous person ever.
