Okay, but Halsin, Jaheira, Minthara, and Astarion all taking one look at an Elf dark urge and immediately going "I can influence that"

So all 4 of the older Elves in the party end up being like a divorced couple that can't agree on how to raise their kid.

#dark urge #i know durge is an adult and the other elves recognize them as at least being physically an adult #but considering lore surrounding bhaal I headcanon durge to be between 35-50 at the oldest #and without memories to give them experiences to base things on when making choices #i could see the older elves and half elves trying to guide them #only astarion and minthara are encouraging violence #and halsin and jaheira are trying to nudge them toward good decisions #and it is a full out war trying to get a single Elf with amnesia to do what each of the 4 thinks is best for them #like nudge nudge I am 200 years older than you and wiser we should kill the clown #or hey trust me you want to befriend the displacer beast trying to eat your face. she is a part of nature “) #astarion over there trying to convince them to rob a temple #and jaheira is giving advice on how to raise kids only we know how Jaheira is with her own kids so the advice probably sucks #astarion #halsin #minthara #jaheira #baldurs gate 3

You can all blame @animentality for this because their posts got me into durgetash (thank you!!!!!) and now I want to torture the villian couple. Probably won't make much sense because I drank enough caffeine to kill a horse today and my brain is going a million miles a second.

You know that scene where Orin shapeshifts into durge and tells them what she did to them? What if Gortash found out about it the same way and had Orin rub salt in the wound by then showing him the prayer for forgiveness?

She is cruel enough to do it and I can't think of any worse way to find out about what happened than for the attempted-murderer to shapeshift into their victim and describe what happened to them in explicit, gruesome detail. The attack itself, the tadpole, how they were abandoned to die alone like trash, how Gortash wasn't there to protect them, all of it. Only to show grieving Gortash the note

Theory:

Honestly, I think the tadpole paired with extreme cranial trauma may have actually benefited durge in the initial aftermath of their injury.

#durge #dark urge #baldurs gate 3 #namely because the skull is a very very enclosed space #so the tadpole munching and cranial trauma likely gave the brain room to swell in the time right after their injury without killing them #i like to think the tadpole munched on the damaged bits that likely wouldn't regain function during the first week with kressa for my durge #like maggots eating dead flesh from a wound except a brain parasite #granted they probably ended up being durable as hell thanks to who their father is/what they are #in fact I'm pretty sure at least 70% of their survival os because of their dad #but the questions that come up because of omeluum's dialogue are certainly fun to consider #because a cranium so damaged is no longer the rigid protector it should be and instead lets things swell and/or be out of shape if needed #and with an injury this massive yall can't tell me there wasnt any swelling

Imagine Enver finding Durge right after Orin's attack. Unsure if the Bhaalspawn will survive the night. Their wounds are severe and healing magic has its limits. Enver tends to them himself—anyone could be Orin come to finish off their sibling. When they finally wake he's so relieved… until he looks into their eyes and sees nothing. No recognition. The body may have survived, but the person he knew is dead.

#ohhhh this is a good one #imagine him desperately hoping to find a way to get them back #and continuing to care for and watch them just in case they recover #because while he was a tyrant in the making he still missed his partnee in evil 4d chess #alternate coronation scene where the party still sees hom being an evil bastard BUT also sees him being soft to #an amnesiac with brain damage who doesn't even remember him but who he still looks like he cares about #then the conflict of trying to figure out if it is real or if he is putting on a show for the public #and if durge was a victim of gortash like his parents or if both gortash and durge are both victims of a cruel tragedy

Linking durge appearing to not feel/be aware of pain while with Kressa and certain chatter lines to durge's brain injury is common, but I also think maybe Bhaal gifted durge with either a super high pain tolerance or the inability to feel pain in most of their body when creating them.

If I was a murder god creating what I hoped to be murder incarnate, I'd want them to have minimal distractions in cases where a victim fights back. Pain is a warning that keeps you from further injury and the ability to continue their work on two broken legs with their guts hanging out would be beneficial when the aim is quantity of victims

Maybe Wyll really hid during the tiefling party because he did not want the tieflings to see him after his transformation. They knew him as a human when he was in the grove with them, the addition of the horns would only lead to questions he wasn't willing to face just yet.

what is the quality your Tavs/Durges have that makes it MOST unbelievable that the origin characters would collectively deem them leader of the tadpole-ridden pack of freaks

Do you think Durge has a belly button?

Ohhh, I like this one. We've actually talked about it in our little brainrot corner a while ago, and personally I'm gonna say; No.

Since Durge was created and not born, there wouldn't have been a need for a belly button, and I doubt Bhaal would've paid enough attention to these little details or may have purposefully scrapped it. Citing that it's a weak point or just that it would make Durge appear even more unsettling.

Speaking of, I'm a massive fan of unsettling, kinda "wrong" looking Durges. Like high elves with red eyes, claws or prominent canines or Tiefs with utterly smooth skin and very jagged, almost sawlike horns and unsettlingly human-looking eyes. Just things that make you go, "hold up, somethings not adding up here" (and well, just make it more predatory as Durge was intended to be a weapon so they can fight, teeth, nails and horns included).

Long story short, even if in game Durge obviously has a belly button, I'll actually go with nope, they have none.

Also that thought process is heavily inspired by the modern idea of Homunculi, since Durge itself is inspired by them to me.
