EXPANSE NEWSLETTER Vo. 3, No.5 – 3/15/2018 EXPANSE TWITCH STREAMING, NEW COINPAYMENTS GATEWAY, ALTCOINFANTASY, EXPANSE ARMY ON DISCORD

Welcome to the fifth edition of the Expanse Newsletter for 2018. This publication is a bi-monthly newsletter issued on the 1st and 15th of each month to share happenings within our community. Keep in mind that breaking news can come at any time, but the Expanse Newsletter is a great overview of progress, news, and our current focus.

EXPANSE TWITCH STREAMING

Just recently, the Expanse team has started doing live Twitch streams between the lead developer, Christopher Franko, and the community. Live stream session times are posted in advance in our Discord channel and on our other social media sites. Community members can link to the session and are able to ask any questions they like. Feedback has been very positive. Right away, we could tell this was something the community has a great deal of interest in. There were lots of lively discussions that the community, and team, found informative and helpful. In addition, viewers can earn Expanse by watching the stream. Every 10 minutes, viewers will earn 2 Expanse Bits (EXPB). Expanse Bits can be redeemed at the Streamlabs store.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of this Twitch live streaming, the current plan is to continue this live streaming on Twitch about twice a week. Here are some more details from Omar Alvarez - “We are doing live Q&A with the community on Twitch.We take every question and answer. I was in one last Saturday, and the plan is to do it twice a week going forward.” Lastly, these events may be timed with some release, or can just be general questions and answer sessions.

NEW EXPANSE COINPAYMENTS GATEWAY

We are excited to announce that Expanse (EXP) will be among the cryptocurrencies and tokens on the new Coinpayments exchange gateways. They are currently being brought on-line stage-by-stage. Once fully operational, EXP can be easily transferred into different cryptocurrencies, much like Changelly and Shapeshift exchanges do now. but with the specifically supported cryptocurrencies, like Expanse, listed on Coinpayments.

We chatted with the Coinpayments team at the recent Bitcoin Super Conference in Dallas, and this is part of an expected upgrade and expansion of Coinpayments. Expanse benefits by already being a part of the Coinpayments ecosystem. This expansion will increase the utility of the Coinpayments platform by creating a new exchange, that will also help lower costs for Coinpayments as a transfer system. As this is another exchange for Expanse, as well as a Bitpay like payment system, this greatly benefits our platform and community.

EXPANSE ARMY ON DISCORD

The team has built a discord tip bot that also tracks rank and has other fun features. This gamification of discord is a new fun way to interact with the community and incentivize participation. Here is a quick explanation of how it works from Omar Alvarez, “The expanse army is a way to talk to the community, and on the discord channel they will be earning new levels with a bots.”

EXPANSE IN SOUTH AMERICA - PAYZA

We have some very exciting news. Expanse is growing in South and Central America, in places and countries that really need cryptocurrency alternatives now, rather than in some hypothetical future. Many things are in process down there, and Omar Alvarez of Expanse and Gameboard has been working on spreading awareness of Expanse in his home country of Guatemala. About six months ago, he contacted Payza to attempt to get Expanse added to this powerful company that is a major Paypal alternative, and recently, they added Expanse! Beyond that, a specific wallet for Expanse is also being developed now by Payza to add even more utility.

Payza was the one company Omar found after trying 19 others that finally allowed him to exchange crypto and fiat, which allows him to effectively work and be paid in cryptocurrency and buy crypto with fiat, which is essential for real adoption at this point until crypto is everywhere. Payza is very big in South America and covers 190 countries. This means Expanse is not only available for fiat exchange in Guatemala and other Central and South American countries but also many other places around the world. Payza has various business functions, shopping cart integration, and works as a fiat and crypto payments system, and cryptocurrency exchange with multiple fiat currencies supported.

Below is the list of the various popular Altcoins added. As you can see this is quite an exclusive list and a big win for Expanse.

Beyond that, Omar Alvarez has been invited to be a speaker with other entrepreneurs at an upcoming Central American Blockchain convention that is in the early planning stages now. This upcoming event will greatly help Expanse in Central and South America.

TOKENLAB (LAB) AND EXPANSE ADDED TO LOCALBITCOINCASH

We are pleased to announce that LocalBitcoinCash has added both Expanse and Tokenlab to their exchange system. These additions mean that arranged online trades with escrow and arranged trades directly person to person for LAB and EXP can now be made through LocalBitcoinCoinCash. This is a great utility for Expanse and Tokenlab, and a means to physically trade Tokenlab and Expanse outside of normal exchanges.

“The LBCH platform has a lot of differences than its Localbitcoins counterpart. For instance, LBCH has a feature service where users can email BCH to a friend or family member. Trades can be done via escrow using methods like a bank transfer, or users can meet each other locally. As many of you have likely heard, MyEtherWallet and Mycrypto have split up and there are now two teams and two projects where formerly there was only Myetherwallet. Mycrypto.com, one of the teams, has recently added Expanse so you can now use the Expanse Network on Myetherwallet.com or Mycrypto.com as you prefer, as they now both support Expanse. EXPANSE NEWSLETTER Vo. 3, No.3 – 2/21/2018 EXPANSE AT THE BITCOIN ETHEREUM SUPERCONFERENCE, EXPANSE RECEPTION, UPDATES

Welcome to the third edition of the Expanse Newsletter for 2018. This publication is a bi-monthly newsletter issued on the 1st and 15th (usually) of each month to share happenings within our community. Keep in mind that breaking news can come at any time, but the Expanse Newsletter is a great overview of progress, news, and our current focus.

EXPANSE AT THE BITCOIN SUPERCONFERENCE

Expanse hosted our first reception at one of the hotels for the Bitcoin Ethereum Superconference. This event happened in Dallas Texas on the 16th of this month, 6pm-8pm, at the Westin Hotel. Drinks and food were available to visitors and guests, and for a few hours James Clayton and Omar Alvarez of Expanse met and chatted with various people interested in talking Expanse, Blockchain, and the future while enjoying the refreshments and company. We all had a great time at this reception, met some interesting people in the industry, and learned valuable lessons for the next conference and events for Expanse.

Above are some photos of the Expanse reception and some of our discussions. We talked about regulations, Expanse, Ethereum, Bitcoin, and many other related subjects.

Here is a photo of James Clayton and Mark Hilgenberg, a long time friend who is also one of the first admins of the cryptocurrency collectors club. Interestingly, Mark is now the Co-founder of Vault Logic, an ATM company for Bitcoin and Alts. So we certainly have a very good contact if we are interested in potentially getting Expanse on ATMs in the future.

Coinpayments was at the event, and of interest, they are creating an exchange in the future. James chatted with the founders of Coinpayments, and Expanse will be a part of their future exchange along with the other coins they have listed.

James Clayton and the CEO of Changelly, Konstantin Gladych, long story short, Changelly will be doing some very cool things in the future and Expanse will be a part of it.

WHAT ABOUT TOKENLAB? THE NEW WEBSITE? MORE NEWS?

As for Tokenlab and an exchange addition, currently, Cryptobridge is in the process and we still anticipate they will add LAB and EXP to their exchange this month. “Our relationship with EXP and LAB is important and valuable to us. We are very excited to list EXP and LAB tokens with various pairs, including BCO. We are delayed, but no less sincere or enthusiastic about where we are headed together.” We are also excited as decentralized exchanges are the future, and Cryptobridge looks very promising, and we can certainly help them with lots of attention and traders that would love to trade LAB. The new Expanse website is also on the way, as it has been, but priorities are what they are and the most important tasks had to be taken care of first, but it is coming. As for more news, yes, more news is on the way and it will be shared as soon as everything is worked out.

Welcome to the second edition of the Expanse Newsletter for 2018. This publication is a bi-monthly newsletter issued on the 1st and 15th of each month to share happenings within our community. Keep in mind that breaking news can come at any time, but the Expanse Newsletter is a great overview of progress, news, and our current focus.

DROPD INITIAL COIN OFFERING ON TOKENLAB

As we previewed in the last newsletter, our first Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is about to launch on the Tokenlab™ platform and the Expanse.Tech blockchain. The Dropd (DPD) countdown site is up. You can view it at https://dropd.tokenlab.io.

EXP.LIFE LOGO REVEAL

EXP.Life, long a dream of Expanse Co-founder Christopher Franko, is about to become a reality. Spearheaded by Omar Alvarez, the project is well underway. One of the first steps was to bring the initiative to life through a brand that reflects the innovation and aspirations behind the concept. The logo is revealed above. It is not just a logo, but a design that is a reflection of the ideals it is created to represent. Here are its origins:

In Maori art, the koru represents peace, personal growth and positive change. Inspired by the shape of an unfolding fern frond, its circular design tells the story of new beginnings and renewal. The varying shades of the color purple, with its mystic qualities, communicates a sense of calm and spiritual balance.

Koru is the Maori word for loop. As if in perpetual motion, the design’s inner coil symbolizes the start of a new life while the outer coil implies continuous and infinite rejuvenation.

This is EXP.Life, where even the end is just the beginning.

Many of you have noticed that there is a temporary landing page on www.expanse.tech, our company website. That is because, with feedback and suggestions from many in our community, a new site is in development. See the sneak peek of our landing page in the graphic above. We call it Expanse.Tech™ 2.0.

Among the many rich and innovative features are the ability to view content according to the user profile (miner vs. developer, etc.), curated news content, a knowledge base, and real-time exchange and Discord chat viewing.

My Journey with Expanse

Everything starts with a wish…

I remember that I was sitting in the concourse of the Guatemalan National airport with some friends. We were heading to the Collision Conference in New Orleans, LA. We were reading about the attendees, informational sessions and new technology awaiting us at the conference. The year 2016 was amazing for the Dev Shop, my company, and 2017 was the moment to launch my gamification platform. Sitting there with business cards, web page and a t-shirt we created, I felt proud. I didn´t know what was coming was so big.

So, the Collision conference went fine, and I met a lot people, I got some new clients for the Dev Shop back here in Guatemala, and I attended a lot of fun meetings and parties. The NOLA food and beer were amazing. I was so excited to be there, waiting for an opportunity to introduce GameBoard, The Gamification Playground, to someone that would take the platform to the next level.

After meeting with some local clients, I knew something awesome would happen — and it did happen in a way I really did not expect. Let me tell you about it.

The AHA! Moment

So it was the last day of the conference, and I didn’t get a chance to present Gameboard to anybody. S I put my Gameboard T-shirt on, got my business cards ready, and had faith. I wanted to have breakfast in a small restaurant, run by some cool girls near the Convention Center. It was about 5km from the hotel where I was staying, and it was an amazing morning to walk. I started walking and thinking about how I was going to present the platform to somebody. (Have you ever had that feeling when you want to make other people believe in the things you do, like you do?)

After my 5 km walk, I arrived at the coffee shop, but it was full. I had no problem waiting, so I stood in line. After all, I was just looking for some feedback and validation, despite being successful in the local market. I needed to know if we were ready for the world.

Standing in line, I was approached by a tall, thin guy who introduced himself as Timothy Suggs. He said, “Do we have to sign in to have breakfast?” I said no, and after about 10 minutes waiting, he started talking to me about the blockchain with a passion that you don't see in many people. He told me what he did for a living, and began to talk about this amazing technology that would change the world. “This is the future and you are in the beginning of a new revolution,” he said. He mentioned that he is part of a community supporting a company named Expanse, which he described as pioneers in blockchain technology who are setting out to change the world. He was so passionate about the tech that listening to him was mind-blowing.

The Hamster in my head, stumble and fall

So 10 minutes before we finished breakfast he asked me what I do for a living. In my mind, the hamster running on the wheel stopped, stumbled and said, “Hey this is it, say it, go!!” and started running like hell. I said, “I created a gamification platform to add the mechanics to any platform. If you have an API to connect your system, I will give you dashboards, leaderboards, points, levels badges… it is a Gamification playground.” Then he asked me to stop talking and to explain it to the Expanse CEO. The hamster stopped again. “The CEO? Oh man.” He told me he would look for me at the conference so we could talk to him. He stood up and left — my mistake I didn´t give him my business card and didn´t get his number.

After the whole day in the conference talking to people about GameBoard and collecting contacts, suddenly Timothy messaged me in the Collision App and said, “Where are you? Come to the food area to meet my CEO.” The hamster collapsed and said, “The CEO?”(You imagine this 60-year-old guy with white hair with a young beautiful model by his side, 6’8”, 240 pounds, so direct and business oriented that you have 30 seconds to tell him what you do.

I was walking cool to the meeting with my heart pumping like hell and there is Timothy with a guy that looks like a “normal developer person” and a beautiful lady. Tim said, “This is Christopher Franko our CEO.” When I met Chris, he made me feel so confident — he was just a regular guy, a person, someone who had a dream and he was living it. He asked me about my life and my story, and then he started talking about his rap music, cryptos, kids, and Expanse.

The hamster sits down to open a beer and said, “This is dope!! Enjoy!”

(Oh!! I forgot, the beautiful lady was Chris’ wife, Heather — awesome person.)

This is the real AHA! Moment

After we explained our platforms and ideas, Chris said I have this project that I always wanted to do. It is about life and I am looking to gamify the experience. After he said that, we talked for an hour about it, creating this amazing platform in our minds. He said, “We will talk next week and do the necessary partnership paper work. This is awesome.”

We both shook hands and said goodbye, somehow, I felt like I knew this guy, maybe from another life. “The big CEO” became an accessible person with values and a dream.

After a few months designing and creating the EXP.Life project, we wrote the white paper and create the logo (coming soon) I started working with Expanse. I am sure this is the greatest opportunity that life gave me, I am in charge now of the project, creating new and amazing things for the platform, part of the Advisory board, and the Ambassador in Guatemala for Expanse. I already held the first meeting with the Blockchain Guatemala group that I created, and I am learning a lot.

For an entrepreneur in Guatemala, with a lot of dreams and the desire to change my country and the world, Expanse has become an excellent opportunity to dream, to work, to accomplish, to create the world that I want to live in.

I will try so hard that one day I will accomplish.

So, thanks Chris, Tim and the whole team, I feel very welcome.

Welcome to the first edition of the Expanse Newsletter for 2018. This publication is a bi-monthly newsletter issued on the 1st and 15th of each month to share happenings within our community. Keep in mind that breaking news can come at any time, but the Expanse Newsletter is a great overview of progress, news, and our current focus.

LAB TO LIST ON CRYPTOBRIDGE DECENTRALIZED EXCHANGE

The main announcement for this Newsletter is that CryptoBridge DEX has agreed to list Tokenlab™ (LAB) on their exchange in February. This is huge news for those of us who have been waiting. The agreement also specifies that they will list Expanse (EXP), as well as future tokens launched on the Tokenlab ICO platform. In return, we will help them gain more attention and popularity with our large community of traders and investors that follow Expanse.

As soon as we have the exact date in February from CryptoBridge, we will share it with you all, but it is officially on the way. We will also continue reaching out to centralized exchanges to add Tokenlab, but currently, most are just overwhelmed with demand. That is another reason a scalable decentralized exchange like CryptoBridge has real potential. There is growing demand for a solution like this. Fact is, scalable decentralized exchanges are the future, and this new partnership is a big step in that direction for Expanse and Tokenlab.

In other news, we have also signed a deal with Locopixel to have them assist with some development work. Locopixel is a company of approximately 50 developers. Chris and the Expanse dev team occasionally need help with various work that takes a great deal of time, so Locopixel is being brought on board to assist. We have already run a test project with them to see how they would perform, and they excelled, delivering the test project as needed, on time, and correctly. So we are expanding the relationship beyond just testing and trials to actually bringing them on board to help with various work that we can outsource to them.

This is simply to streamline and speed up the development of the Expanse project in a very time-efficient and cost-effective manner. So this is great news that will help Expanse scale and grow with demand, as development needs naturally become greater over time as Expanse grows.

EXPANSE NEWSLETTER Vo. 2, No.24 – 12/15/2017 EXCHANGE NEWS, EXPANSE MEETUPS, WEBSITE REVAMP, AXIA PUBLIC RELATIONS UPDATE

Welcome to the twenty-fourth edition of the Expanse Newsletter for 2017. This publication is a bi-monthly newsletter issued on the 1st and 15th of each month to share happenings within our community. Keep in mind that breaking news can come at any time, but the Expanse Newsletter is a great overview of progress, news, and our current focus.

EXCHANGE NEWS

Right now we are setting up a partnership with the decentralized exchange, Cryptobridge, https://crypto-bridge.org/ This partnership will not only be for Expanse and Tokenlab™, but for future projects launched on Tokenlab. We will help the exchange gain attention and bring in liquidity, while having the freedom to add Tokenlab (LAB) and other projects launched on the platform, in return. This is close to a done deal, and we are working out the final details. (Cryptobridge management has granted us permission to share this news.) This is looking like it will be a great, mutually-beneficial relationship: Helping Tokenlab and our clients by having a guaranteed exchange, and in turn, helping Cryptobridge, a very well-designed, decentralized exchange, gain the attention, volume, and liquidity they seek.

We are also in negotiations to purchase a Chinese Exchange. We have been marketing and working over the last year with our Chinese ambassador from this exchange. Both teams are now weighing this option. As we have continued to deepen this relationship, this is a real possibility and not just hype. Buying some Chinese exchange does not mean buying some exchange in China that opens up and tries to take on Chinese regulators. Instead, we are on track to buy the very valuable, closed source code and then relaunching and rebranding the centralized exchange elsewhere outside of China’s control. If this happens, it would be done with the Expanse team and with a team from China working together. This is a very exciting option but will take time and is still in process. In short, we should have the decentralized exchange coming soon, and the possibility of a traditional centralized exchange for Expanse, Tokenlab, and many other cryptos, launching later.

EXPANSE MEETUPS AROUND THE WORLD

We have plans for Expanse meetups and an exciting new ambassador program. Meeting people in person directly and speaking to them with presentations, is a very powerful way to get people interested in the project. The timing for launching these new initiatives will be after the new Expanse website is complete, as we need a dynamic site that can quickly be updated and adapt to all the new information that is always coming in. So the upcoming website revamp is closely connected to the plan to have meetups around the world.

We have seen some interest from Africa recently, and some Expanse community members who are setting up a Meetup in Africa shared this flyer with us. Additionally, we have a very strong presence in South America due to partnerships, and we plan on lots of marketing and meetups with presentations in South America. Omar Alvarez, CEO of our Guatemala-based partner Gameboard, is already planning presentations and speaking events about Expanse down there, so we anticipate growth in South America with some related key events to come in the future.

EXPANSE WEBSITE REVAMP

Although the current Expanse.tech™ website has served us well, the design is not dynamic making updating less efficient. We also believe it is important to stand out and not be like all the other boring crypto websites that blend together. People tend to lose attention if they are all alike after you have seen enough of them. As Expanse has unique selling points, we plan to build a much more creative and dynamic website—one that will have a powerful impact for visitors, with a design that is easy to update given the new and constantly changing information generated by the Expanse.tech™ project.

We know this is a concern for the community. We hear you, and this is a key focus for the team. We understand how vital this is, and since there is so much information and news happening now, the current site is really not designed well enough to handle modifications as it should. Once the new site is launched, the revamped website will also have a much more powerful impact when people first try to learn about Expanse, rather than just a nice website that appears like many others that people might just browse and forget. This new website, in contrast, will be designed to be unforgettable, so we can stand out from the crowd and be noticed.

AXIA PUBLIC RELATIONS NEWS UPDATE

Axia has helped set up some big interviews with major press, so now we are just waiting to see when they run those stories, and of course, this is ongoing and more interviews are in the process of being negotiated and pitched to the press. So far, six interviews have taken place. When these articles are published they will be in major news publications and give instant mainstream attention to Expanse. So stay tuned, as articles could come out at any moment now.

Now that crypto is going more mainstream, Christopher Franko is being pitched and sought out as an industry expert to provide opinions and to educate consumers by major publications, including Forbes, The New York Times and Fortune Magazine. This obviously is a time-consuming process, but building a brand to get global attention is not a trivial undertaking. Besides, we just need one major story to take off, and as six of the interviews are already done, any one of them could be published at any moment.

If or when they are, we will inform the community and share at once. We are also keeping a close eye on the metrics and evaluating how this is going, but in general, we are very excited about the potential and just waiting for our moment to shine.

BINANCE COIN ADDED TO TOKENLAB

Binance is a new exchange that has quickly grown in popularity. Binance Coin is a token the exchange uses to offer trading discounts for users. Adding BNB to Tokenlab does not mean Tokenlab or Expanse will be on Binance, but we are working on getting Expanse added to the list for voting in the future (and we will later for Tokenlab).

For Expanse or Tokenlab to be added to Binance itself, the team and community will need to work together. However, adding BNB to Tokenlab is an important step that can help us move in that direction. So we are now offering (BNB) as one of the options for Tokenlab, and this should increase attention from the Binance exchange and community as it creates another use case for the BNB Token.

AXIA PUBLIC RELATIONS NEWS

As announced previously we have hired Axia Public Relations to help increase the popularity of the Expanse brand to the general public. All good things take time, but there has been a great deal of progress with Axia. The first press release we issued with Axia, “Borderless Corp., Inc. to Launch Expanse DAO” was viewed by far more people than our previous press releases, so that was a good start. We have also had meetings with Axia discussing the situation and how we can gain mainstream attention.

EXPANSE UPDATE

Expanse.Tech™ has a mandatory hard fork update at block 800,000. If you run the Expanse Mist wallet you just need to launch it and auto-update. As Ethereum is hard forking, it is mandatory that Expanse also hard fork to maintain compatibility with all upstream Ethereum code. Since this is needed, we decided to also improve the code and speed of Expanse at the same time, as this is an opportunity to make some key improvements to Expanse.

Expanse will be updated to the latest technology from Ethereum, and we are also doubling the speed of Expanse from 60 seconds to 30 seconds blocks while cutting the rewards per block to maintain the same block rewards of 8 every sixty seconds. No change for mining rewards over time; it just means Expanse will be faster. We are also decreasing uncle inflation. This update also allows for ZK-Snarks and anonymous blockchain technology in the future. Below are all the technical details of this update:

Expanse Changes 1.7.2

Upgrade Objectives:

Upgrade EXP to the latest ETH:Byzantium protocol.

Make EXP transactions faster.

Decrease uncle inflation.

Maintain Block Reward 8/min.

Byzantium Objectives:

Addition of ‘REVERT’ opcode, which permits error handling without consuming all gas (EIP 140).

Transaction receipts now include a status field to indicate success or failure EIP 658).

Elliptic curve addition and scalar multiplication on alt_bn128 (EIP 196) and pairing checks (EIP 197), permitting ZK-Snarks and other cryptographic mathemagic™.

Support for big integer modular exponentiation (EIP 198), enabling RSA signature verification and other cryptographic applications.

Support for variable length return values (EIP 211).

Addition of the ‘STATICCALL’ opcode, permitting non-state-changing calls to other contracts (EIP 214).

Changes to the difficulty adjustment formula to take uncles into account (EIP 100).

SOUTH KOREAN EXCHANGE UPBIT WILL TRADE EXPANSE

An affiliate of South Korea’s powerful messaging platform, Kakao, has started beta testing on a new and exciting cryptocurrency exchange, Upbit. They have partnered with the well established Bittrex of the USA to bring many popular cryptocurrencies to South Korean traders, and Expanse is among those crypto tokens to be traded. The Vision of Expanse

Part I - Introduction

Expanse as a Decentralized Ethereum

Expanse.Tech™ was launched on 9/14/15 and designed to create a decentralized community version of the Ethereum Blockchain. Expanse is, in fact, the first stable alternative public chain of Ethereum. This was done with the vision of building a revolutionary Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO)—one that was free of any contractual obligations to outsiders or institutions and as decentralized as possible, while still being stable and safe. This new version of Ethereum, Expanse, was also launched without an ICO by design. This was done with foresight, as we knew that eventually regulation would be coming to Blockchain, and being free of the ICO status meant greater freedom in future creative decisions. In short, how a project is funded could dictate how it is regulated, what features it can offer, and who can participate.

Because of this, at the time of the creation of Expanse, there was a reserve (or premine) created at the genesis block to have a reliable means of progress that could ensure development into the future. This was done so that the project would have the time to survive and eventually thrive. Over time, this reserve has been held safely in time-locked smart contacts with a small part used for development and for funding Expanse Rewards (EXR). Over two years later, only 5 percent of the community fund has been used for development, while the rest has been in time-locked smart contracts and used for EXR. (EXR is a smart contract based reward system for holding Expanse.) This community reserve has been kept intact for the day when the vision of the project, the Expanse DAO, could be realized.

The vision of Expanse was always to complete this ambitious dream of building a decentralized version of Ethereum, of building the Expanse DAO, and succeeding where others have failed—a DAO to give power directly to the community, but in a way that would lead to rational choices so that it would run like a top-down organization, while still being decentralized. Now for the great news: After all this time, with much planning and careful consideration for the safety of the project, this vision is about to finally become a reality. The core code for the Expanse DAO has been written and will go live in the near future. This means the reserve will be controlled entirely by the Expanse DAO, by immutable code, and as the EXP.DAO goes, so goes Expanse.

Part II - The Problem

Centralization vs Decentralization

The core problem of most blockchain projects is decentralization itself, which ironically is also the core value proposition for these same projects. The entire point of Bitcoin and most projects is to build a decentralized open-source blockchain for currencies, contracts, tokens, and everything else. But the natural state of true decentralization is often one of chaos and disorder. The only thing most blockchain projects rely on for order and stability is having some influential developer that acts as a benevolent dictator and runs the project their way. They often use terms like ‘decentralization’ as a buzzword unconnected to reality. Real decentralization means risk and opportunity, but very few developers are bold or honest enough to take risks, as they are perfectly happy with their total control. This can be fine for a time, but for a project to endure, it must be designed to last beyond those that started it.

We have seen this problem play out with great endless drama in Bitcoin when Satoshi left. Another influential developer stepped up, and plenty more after that, but after Satoshi vanished, the vision of Bitcoin was mostly considered whatever writings were left behind by the initial creator or creators. This led to years of chaos and infighting in the Bitcoin community and eventually to a complete split, both ideologically and with the Bitcoin ledger itself. Bitcoin is now in a situation where perpetual competing versions of Bitcoin are being created, all using the Bitcoin branding and copying the ledger while claiming to be the real vision of Satoshi. We also saw this problem play out with ‘The DAO’ by Slockit and the creation of Ethereum Classic, when the Ethereum community split after funds were hacked and hard forked away from the hackers without provable consensus.

Part III - The Solution

Expanse Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO)

The solution is beautiful in the very simplicity of it. The solution is code and a system of smart contracts and decentralized governance to handle choices in a mathematically provable way—a way that leads to order rather than chaos by trusting immutable code instead of irrational people. The community decisions are not made by a centralized authority, or those following the ideas of past centralized authorities, but rather by everyone involved in a fair decentralized manner with real consensus and transparency. Our specific solution is the Expanse DAO, a next-generation Decentralized Autonomous Organization powered by our proprietary VoteLock™ technology.

The Expanse DAO is designed to handle all major decisions of the community and project. It is designed to control and distribute funding for development and concepts of merit, and it gives power and direct ownership to all that that is a part of it. This will be accomplished in a totally new way. This massive development update will make Expanse one of the most visionary community blockchain projects to date. The Expanse DAO is also self-funded and has been carefully designed over time to add a great amount of trust and security to the project. It allows for self-improvement and advancement over time, as the design itself is modular and built to be future proof.

Part IV - Advantages of the Expanse DAO

Decentralization - One of the core value propositions of any blockchain project is that it is decentralized, but very few Blockchain projects are whatsoever, making Expanse one of the elite few real decentralized projects.

Immutability - Another key value proposition is immutability and only changing code with true consensus. The Expanse DAO will offer exactly that. Any major changes will be with majority consensus or they do not happen. The code is law.

Security - A major concern in Blockchain is security, and the Expanse DAO was built with real-world, tested, smart-contract design and not rushed. This makes EXP.DAO much more safe and secure.

Transparency - Every proposal will be approved and clear to the community so they can decide if they want the limited funding to be used for proposals of merit, or not.

Consensus - As each major decision is voted on and recorded on the Blockchain, the Expanse DAO offers real consensus rather than manufactured.

Longevity - The Expanse DAO controls all funding to allow the project to be developed far into the future as the community wishes.

Trust - No matter the situation, humans are not perfect, and there are always trust concerns. With the Expanse DAO, this trust will be in mathematically certain, open-source code. Funding is also distributed only through the DAO, as voted on by the public.

Ownership - Those holding EXP own a part of the DAO directly, and ownership is distributed to everyone holding EXP tokens.

Freedom - As Expanse was not created with an ICO, it is free from regulatory concerns that apply to ICOs. This allows for much greater creative freedom so that what the community wants can be created.

Incentives - EXP will be used for voting, in part with an update and expansion to the EXR system, so the Expanse DAO will offer greater incentive to hold Expanse.

Expansion - The Expanse DAO offers a path for anyone to create proposals and vote on them so all ideas people are willing to invest the starting cost to vote on can be considered by the community.

Value - Expanse (EXP) is the DAO; they are one and the same, and no additional tokens need to be purchased. There will be no ICO for the Expanse DAO. You hold Expanse, you hold the Expanse DAO.

EXPANSE AT THE CRYPTO CANNABIS CONFERENCE 2017

The Expanse team continues to promote and make new connections at various blockchain and tech conferences around the world. On October 21st Timothy Suggs of Expanse will be representing us at the Crypto Cannabis conference in Denver Colorado. The team has been extremely active with meeting people in person at these events, and several partnerships in the past have started up based on these valuable in-person conferences.

We started the first one back with the DC Blockchain Summit 2017, sponsoring and attending, then demonstrating as an Alpha Startup at the Collision Tech conference in New Orleans. Later we attended Consensus 2017 in NYC, Token Summit in NYC, and Moneyconf 2017 in Madrid, Spain. Welcome to the nineteenth edition of the Expanse Newsletter for 2017. This publication is a bi-monthly newsletter issued on the 1st and 15th of each month to share happenings within our community. Keep in mind that breaking news can come at any time, but the Expanse Newsletter is a great overview of progress, news, and our current focus.

TOKENLAB SALE UPDATE

We are pleased to report the Tokenlab Exclusive Sale was a success and sold out in the first couple of days. The sale was scheduled to last up to 14 days, but as there was enough demand, it only lasted a couple days. The EXP-only Exclusive Sale was created so that everyone in the Expanse community would have a chance to buy in before heavy advertising or potentially big buyers might buy in later. This Exclusive Sale was not for immediate funding for advertising or development, but in fact, the plan for this EXP is to be used over several years. We intend for the $1m USD raised in Expanse to be worth much more, if possible, as that would benefit the community greatly and the financial situation for the Tokenlab project.

The next phase of the sale, the Presale, just launched today and has the following details:

The price will be $0.09 USD per LAB token. It will accept EXP and ETH initially, running for a maximum of 30 days.

After 15 days, assuming the sale has not already sold out, BTC and LTC will be added to the sale.

Once the sale sells out, the final sale will start shortly thereafter for a price of $0.10 per LAB. The EXP raised in this sale is also to be used over years and not dumped on the market. The ETH raised will be used for advertising and development as needed, primarily for advertising at first. This way there is no negative impact from Expanse raised for Tokenlab, only EXP locked up and off the market. The advertising funding from the ETH raised will help promote Tokenlab, and by extension, it will also promote Expanse.

If you are interested in the next phase that has just started have some EXP or ETH ready, in the correct Wallets, on the correct Blockchains, that you control the private keys for. Do not send from an Exchange, only send ETH to the ETH address and EXP to the EXP address. There will be a 30-day countdown for the sale to end so there is no rush, so make sure you understand how to participate in the sale before sending Tokens.

We also understand the community is anxious for paid advertising to start, but this is all being set up and will begin shortly. The Exclusive Sale was for Expanse community members to get a chance, the Presale is for raising significant funding in Ethereum that we can use right away for advertising. Important: Read and understand all instructions to be released before participating in the Tokenlab ICO. There will be an address for Ethereum and an address for Expanse. TOKENLAB AT TECHCRUNCH DISRUPT 2017

Timothy Suggs and Alex Eaton were recently at Techcrunch Disrupt promoting Expanse and Tokenlab at a Booth for Startup Alley in San Francisco. Lots of great exposure for Expanse and Tokenlab was gained at this prestigious Techcrunch Expo in San Francisco, both known for being leaders in cutting edge technology and startups. Timothy Suggs has been traveling around the world attending many conventions representing Expanse, and we have been getting more and more attention from doing so. By moving to the next level and actually having booths to demonstrate or hand out flyers and info, this gives us even more serious attention to big players in the industry of Blockchain and startups. Alex Eaton also joined Timothy at this latest convention as an ambassador for Expanse. Obviously, we plan to add even more people over time representing Expanse at expos and conventions, as meeting people face to face is a powerful way to show how serious we are about the projects and their future.

IPHONE EXPANSE MOBILE WALLET

Some other news that is in progress with Expanse is the development of mobile wallets, now including iPhone, as well as the previously announced Android version. This is coming in the future, not immediately, but here are some current screenshots of the wallet being tested on iPhone. The developers working on this project are familiar with getting applications into the Apple ecosystem and assure this will happen, as we asked about the challenges of getting an application approved by Apple. Keep in mind this is development news and not release news, as they are still testing and developing the wallets. Once the Mobile Wallets are 100% ready we will put out a press release and share the news with everyone.

Tokenlab Design for Quality ICOs

Tokenlab is the first official ICO from Expanse, as it is the best way to expand mutually beneficial relationships and build the network effect. By providing a secure environment that allows for creative options with built-in marketing and support, Tokenlab will help quality projects launching on the platform, while also growing the Expanse ecosystem that is critical for long-term success. Cross-promotions, security, and mutual cooperation are key Tokenlab success factors. Along with the design that filters out the problem ICOs and reviews, those buying projects on Tokenlab, by default, will be investing in more serious projects with a much greater level of confidence.

As many of you already know, two projects have already been announced for Tokenlab. These are quality projects worthy of research and investing in if you so choose. Check-In was launched with the intention of changing how liquor brands react with guests.

The Praetorian Group is the second project to announce to launch on Tokenlab. How Tokenlab Helps Expanse

Common questions people ask are, “How does Tokenlab™ Help Expanse?” or “What does it mean for Expanse.tech™ that Tokenlab is launching?” The best way to understand the benefits of Tokenlab’s launch on the Expanse Blockchain is to first know what the biggest challenge is for any token or cryptocurrency. Beyond a use case, which creative people can come up with, it is getting people to use and build up the network effect over time. This is the only thing that can create lasting value beyond speculation—actual adoption and widescale use.

In the early days, most projects were currencies competing with only Bitcoin, which itself was just beginning to build up the network effect and gaining use. Almost all of the early currencies failed or found little success, as they were competing directly with Bitcoin. That is not what we are doing at Expanse at all. Instead, we are working on mutually beneficial, cooperative relationships, while understanding there are several elements needed to achieve the goal of widespread adoption. When we first launched Expanse we created a reserve, or a treasury, that would fund the project for many years. The Tokenlab Exclusive Sale launched on time September 14th at 12pm UTC. The team quickly handled questions and helped to make the launch successful. All EXP raised in the sale are secure. Investors will receive their LAB tokens without worry. About half of the $1m goal sold out in the first hour. The Exclusive Sale will continue until the $1m goal has been reached or until September 28 at 12:00 PM UTC.

As can happen in crypto, the timing of the sale coincided with the Bitcoin price dropping dramatically. This type of situation is exactly why we decided to price the tokens in USD in the first place—to give the best chance of early discounts being advantageous, and for the amounts raised to be consistent with needed development goals. Regardless of this timing, we are pleased with the results of the sale so far, and will be marketing quite a bit in the coming days.

What is Expanse Rewards? Expanse rewards is a smart contract system that rewards holders of Expanse using a part of the community reserve created at the launch of Expanse. How this works is that using the Expanse Mist Wallet and the EXR dApp, you lock up your own Expanse tokens in a secure smart contract and commit to holding Expanse for 6 months. The smart contract rewards you with 12% annual interest over the 6-month time frame and then your Expanse is released from your smart contract and back into your wallet.
