ok so i think we’ve come to an understanding here

u dont have to hc him as bi, you don’t have to hc keith as gay, etc. people who hate on people who believe different things about the same characters are Petty Af and its highkey unnecessary to do so 

however

to go back to the original thing i posted, my problem with the original pic was that this person was Definitely saying he wasn’t bi in response to people saying he was bi, and this really, really rubbed me wrong. like sandpaper on skin. like asphalt on ipad glass. i think we had a lil miscommunication there? idk. but that was my original point: that this person was coming off as saying that hes a Het in response to the massive consensus that bi lance (a hc, but a massively popular hc nonetheless) was Good and they were Big Mad (tm) abt it

so yeah

ok so i think i worded this wrong b/c it was 1 am for me but let me try again

i’m not saying he can’t be straight, bud. it’s ok to hc him as straight. its a lil boring, but it’s not inherently biphobic to hc him as straight.

however, saying he can’t be bi in response to people hc’ing him as bi (as the person above Definitely Is) is biphobic. that’s being pretty mean to bi people who just want to see more of ourselves in media.

saying he can’t be bi because ‘hes only shown interest in girls’ is...nicht gut. bi people take time to realise their attraction to other genders/same genders. bi people have preferences. bi people have internalised homophobia and biphobia. there’s a lot of factors to being bi. (((also sidenote but aliens could, also, not have the same genders as human beings. he has only shown interest in girls/femininely presenting people onscreen, but a big a reveal as one of the first canonically bisexual characters in children’s television would have to be a surprise.)))

in short, the above pic is just petty. saying that invalidating certain aspects of bi struggles/bi identity to stick it to the people who hc him as bi

@ew-a-shaladin while it’s true that he has only shown interest in aliens that present pretty femininely, that doesn’t mean he can’t be bi. also, nothing has shown that he isn’t bi, so saying he can’t be bi is, ding ding ding, biphobic. it’s biphobic because that is erasing bi peoples identities based on their attraction to a different gender than their own, when bi people can have preferences/not realised their bi-ness/aren’t open about their attraction to other genders. saying that he can’t be bi just because ‘He Only Likes GIRLS’ is a lil harmful to bi ppl.

it’s ok to hc him as straight, but saying he can’t be bi is unnecessary and mean-spirited towards bi people who want to see themselves in media.

it’s not homophobic to call u gay bc ‘gay’ is a blanket term, and has no connection to this discusison.

it rubs me the wrong way b/c every time i see it, it’s used in a context that refers to all antis, instead of just the ‘brats’ that are really, honestly, not antis. i have no idea where you stand on this discourse but one way to not have anyone listen to you is to use that term to refer to an anti you’re arguing with (note: i’m using the general ‘you’ here, not specifically you). sha|adins tend to use it to write off all antis as unreasonable, inflammatory, and jealous.

i know exactly why shaladins think that way. i understand what you were trying to do, but it did come off a little bit idk big mad??? i’m glad you tried to clear this up in a calm and collected manner.
