thinking about how when you experience a lot of shame in your formative years (indirectly, directly, as abuse or just as an extant part of your environment) it becomes really difficult to be perceived by other people in general. the mere concept of someone watching me do anything, whether it's a totally normal activity or something unfamiliar of embarrassing, whether I'm working in an excel spreadsheet or being horny on main, it just makes my skin crawl and my brain turn to static because I cannot convince myself that it's okay to be seen and experienced. because to exist is to be ashamed and embarrassed of myself, whether I'm failing at something or not, because my instinctive reaction to anyone commenting on ANYTHING I'm doing is to crawl into a hole and die. it's such a bizarre and dehumanizing feeling to just not be able to exist without constantly thinking about how you are being Perceived. ceaseless watcher give me a god damn break.

I’m trying not to be a huge dick about it but I got a “but what about us q-slurs who are traumatized by the bad words?” on my slur reclaimation post and so I’ve made a handy guide

1. You are being called the slur.

A. If it is with malice, I am sorry for this experience, however, this situation is not at all what I was talking about.

B. If it is with affection or as a joke from other LGBTs, and it makes you uncomfortable, ask them to stop. If they don’t, they’re a dick for not respecting your boundaries.

2. You are being “forced” to see other people use the word for a larger community

A. If it bothers you then you are probably not the “fag community” to which they are referring, then. In a post? Block. Blacklist words. Block tags. Walk away. Avert your eyes. You don’t vibe with “queer community” then refer to it as LGBT. You make it sound like a “someone saying Happy Holidays means I can’t say Merry Christmas anymore” situation. You don’t have to use any words you don’t vibe with. Hate to say Dyke March or Dykes on Bikes? Don’t go to the march. Avoid the bikes.

3. You are being “forced” to hear other people use the word for themselves

A. I mean this with love and respect…suck it up. If it is so deeply triggering, remove yourself. Leave the situation. Block. Blacklist words. Block tags.

In a conversation about reclaimation, I am sorry, but you only get to decide how people refer to you, no one else. If someone else’s use upsets you, YOU have to do something about it, not them. You do not, under ANY circumstances, get to ask someone not to use dyke or fag or queer or tranny for themselves. You don’t get to ask someone not to use it/its. You don’t get to tell someone to tuck or bind because it gives you second-hand dysphoria. You do not get to decide how someone else is queer.

If being around them is that debilitating, you need to take steps to insulate yourself.

On the curate your own experience website, you should know how to do just that. There are so many guides out there. And to the complaint that “now” Pride uses all these slurs which has made Pride hostile to you, I’d invite you to crack open a book, but perhaps what you find will be too upsetting

I watched Dune (1984) for the first time with @luxeinferior a few weeks back and was talking about how the success of the most recent Dune movie could mean we'll start seeing Dune cosplay meetups at cons and that it would be extremely funny if we rolled up to one such meetup cosplaying some silly David Lynch 80s Dune outfits.

So anyway as of today I'm lowkey thinking about how I could cosplay the Harkonnen milk cat.

Already made one million posts about the Tsurumi Harem but I'll just never get over the 4th opening where the camera pans through the 7th division's boys and the lyrics are the following:

"I'm gonna die, please pray for me, like it's our starting time"

The two nearest to Tsurumi are Usami and Nikadou, lowered to the ground on their knees. Usami is almost like a guard dog, making it clear that he is the number one person.

While, interestingly enough, Koito is farthest away from Tsurumi's throne, and Tsukishima follows him. They aren't kneeling at all. They are beginning to make their exit.

The varying levels of waning control is displayed here. Tsurumi's indifference to it all is also displayed here. He knew all along how his convoluted love was utilized to puppeteer everyone in that room, regardless about how they felt about it...which is why he pretty much mocks us.

none of this is new or novel information but I just really love Golden Kamuy. I'll never experience peak again

okay americans i gotta ask because as an European i grew up with lots of american shows and cartoons and in a lot of them there was an episode where they give the protags a doll or an egg or a bag of flour or whatever and told them pretend to be its parents or something

#USA person here who went to public high school in the early 00s #this was one million percent a thing #that said if your school was REALLY serious about scaring teens away from sex the flour sack wasn't a big enough deterrent #look up 'baby think it over' #tl;dr it's a robot baby doll and its only job is to SCREAM #I never took the class that required carrying it around for a week #but they were so intentionally disruptive that their point was made to anyone within earshot #and the babies recorded how well you cared for them and this affected your grade in baby??? #there were rumors of how to hack the babies though #also it was a thing to see how much you could abuse a Baby Think It Over and still get a good grade in that unit #I had a few classmates who locked them in the trunks of their cars
