Evaluation

My final project is about the immersive ocean theme, mainly to decompress people with high pressures and emotional fluctuations. After watching my work, people can be relieved.

From the end of my work completion, first of all, it is worth saying that I am very happy that I can complete such a work for the first time, which is a new attempt and challenge for me. Secondly, according to the original idea, I realized the effect of the ocean. I also used the software technology and also added the part I shot. These are very good, and the experience is also good.

Underwater world in a fish tank

According to Mike's opinion and my own thoughts, I found a cube fish tank on Amazon, which is big enough for me to create this world, and at the same time clear enough. So I started to use the pigments of different colors to make the drops and recordings over and over again.

I created a very dark environment in the room, so that all the focus is on the color smoke in the water, so that the person watching can have a feeling of swimming and playing in the water.

The first step

First of all, my first step was to use the video I shot at the beach, make a simple edit, start organizing all the videos and photo material and decide the content and richness of the entire project.

Second step

In the tutorial with Mike, we discussed various expressions about the ocean, which can be expressed in very real video. At the same time, we can use various software to make the simulation ocean and add some marine biological models to make the picture become rich.

So I started by making different styles of oceans in After Effects, which allowed for more selectivity and increased utilization.

I spent a lot of time learning about the After Effects software because I wanted to make an effect that looked like a real ocean, so I did a lot of experimentation.

Unique and innovative way

In a chat with a friend, I mentioned the graduation design, so we started to talk about how to create a sea world. The whim is that we can create a glass container, put stones and some plants inside, create a miniature ocean, and use Go-pro for underwater photography.

At the beginning, I used a round glass bowl to test the color of the paint. The color is very good, but because the bowl is circular, it will feel uncomfortable and it will not reach my mind. The effect that can be achieved.

So I raised this question with Mike's tutorial and showed him the results.

Tutorial preparation

1. Draw some manuscripts with sub-shots and current ideas, giving teachers a more intuitive feel；

2. Collect all the materials I already have available, and everything I need to use throughout the graduation design process.

The beginning of the project

Based on my original Gantt Chart project and the three related artworks I found earlier, combined with the more outstanding works I have found, I started to research the related technologies and content of Adobe After Effects and started some practices.

But with regard to the materials that are going to be used in the Gantt Chart, I am not particularly sure about this step because there are so many settings in my brain.

Use of the Projector

During the holiday time, I borrowed the projector from the school and tried it, but unfortunately, I didn't have the projector's interface with the computer, so I just tried it on the boot, it looks like a very old line. I will solve it in the next period of time, whether it is borrowing or buying, and getting the line before the next projector.

Working Technical

During the holidays, my friend and I went to the southwest of England to take a lot of material about the ocean. I decided to put it into the final project and started some AE exercises and debugging.

Comment on technical tutorials which I have used

1.After Effects

I started learning AE on the Lynda.com website. The first thing I learned was how to build a model and do some simple animations. This tutorial is very detailed, and it is also very good for me to learn, because the author has shown all the final results from the beginning, which allows me to step by step and see the results, which will help me to make the scene later.

2.Processing

Processing is the first software I've come across, it's programming, so I started learning from the basics very early. This tutorial is divided into a number of chapters, I follow the author step by step, although it is really difficult for me, not so simple, but because it is very specific, so practice more slowly. Teaching is very good, I will continue to follow up.

3.《 Crystal Universe 》

This is the latest sculpture light show created by artist Teamlab in 2016. It consists of a myriad of LED lights that make up a magical space that brings a psychedelic scene installation experience to the audience. This work takes advantage of the role of light and space, bringing a strong sense of sight. Every experience is like the center of the universe - the stars, bringing a warm feeling. At the same time, its interactivity allows the technical operating system to follow the real-time feedback of the experiencer. This is the most flexible place to do, and it is fun and high-level.

1.Prada Miami Double Club

This is a show by the Prada Foundation in December 2017 called "The Prada Double Club Miami", an art installation designed by artist Carsten Höller. Its venue is very special and is in a fully operational nightclub. Divided into two spaces, with international live music and DJ performances on one side and local Caribbean and South American performance teams on the other. The performer embodies the opposite concept of the project itself: guests and members can break through the boundaries of penetration, venture into two-dimensional space, and embark on the journey of“schizophrenia”. The artist has used this installation to make people have a visual feast during the entertainment time after study and work. It is a very good experience. 2.《Swimming Pool》

This is the work created by Ehrlich in 1999. It was unveiled at the MoMA PS1 and the Venice Biennale. It is now a permanent collection of the 21st Century Kanazawa Art Museum in Japan.

Its style is very close to the theme I want to present, and I like it when I see it. This work truly reflects what is called immersive. The original meaning of “immersive” refers to immersion in water, and this piece of work from this angle is very clever to create a sense of experience under the water, it uses the museum The skylight, joined by the water-filled mezzanine, constructed a real pool space.

It’s an immersive, seemingly simple but deep work that people have never had before. It’s amazing.

A statement about  relationships between my project&chosen job 

I want to be a creative industry career in the future. I hope to be a practical operator. I want to be a media designer. Like an artist, my professional time and planning are more free. I make a piece of work at regular intervals. Come. Or I am a curator, producer in a company or a company, have my own team, and I can have a certain position in it.

So the project I am doing, first of all, it is in line with the current hot topic of anxiety and anxiety of urban workers. In my opinion, how digital media is sublimated is that it is not just a thing that can be done. Artwork for people to appreciate, should also really solve problems in the way of technology, to give the help of the experience. This is the real trend of the digital media that I think I have learned.

At the same time, I can say that I am a writer, producer, and director to complete a work. It is an opportunity for me to exercise, and it is also the beginning of a future work direction. Looking for a job for me in the future. At the time, on the resume, I can have a work show, experience to face, prove my own ability, and also help the future work.

A Consideration of the Ethics and Right

First, let's analyze the audience and user tests. My project targets a wide audience. Although there are major people, most people can use and experience them. The user's test must be rigorous, statistical and analytical on the user's experience, and will not involve ethical issues.

Secondly, the issue of obtaining permissions and managing copyright, as I mentioned in the previous section, most of my project content is original, only music or a small part of the content may involve copyright issues, then I will strictly regulate Use, find what you can use or need to pay for it, respect originality.

A Consideration of Health and Safety

Considering the health and safety implications, my work is first of all low risk.

On the one hand, my work is a piece of installation art, so it is possible to pay attention to its solidity when building a device. There is a risk here. But the construction materials are very solid, I will try to find the position by the corner, which saves space and materials, and also protects the security; on the other hand, all the content and materials I will use will be The content I created, including the projections, was shot, edited, and processed in the post, so there are no other issues involved; however, the music that I need to use may involve copyright issues, then I I will choose to buy music with permission to use or pay a fee, and put it in my work.

Secondly, I don't need a lot of people in this project. The main staff is my own. I may need one or two assistants when building or evaluating. So there are no personnel problems. Finally, the use of the people who use my project. It should be very relaxing and enjoyable.
