Posted @withregram • @littlewanderersnyc Fromage is our newest rescue and looking for an immediate foster! He was scooped off the cold Brooklyn streets begging for rescue. He’s friendly, lovely, easy-going and fine with dogs and cats! Fromage is FeLV/FIV negative, not yet neutered and a beautiful long-haired orange cat. We did not want him surrendered to the shelter so we are putting out an urgent plea. He needs placement! Send us an direct message right away if you can help. He is currently in Williamsburg Brooklyn. @veterinary_emergency_group https://www.instagram.com/p/CpyktwWpCPd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withregram • @alleycatallies If you hear someone refer to #TNR as "Trap-Neuter-Release," don't be afraid to correct them! The right term is Trap-Neuter-Return, and saying "return" instead of "release" makes all the difference. Community cats are not released in any old area through TNR; they are RETURNED to the outdoor homes they know and the feline families to which they're bonded! https://www.instagram.com/p/CnCx5B9Ptyk/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withregram • @black_cat_crew Please read. Please help. Please share. Please send some love to little Eeyore #bcc_adoptblackcats . Repost @catsofbeautifultogether @beautifultogethersanctuary Meet Eeyore she is fighting to beat FIP and we need financial help to be able to continue to get her the medication that she needs. See my link tree in bio to donate Here is her story- she was born in a small rural shelter in NC. Her mom was too sick to care for her, so the shelter employees places her with another nursing mom. Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary pulled both mom cats and all 6 babies about a week after delivery. The battle for survival began once we got them with a medical foster. Both moms were sick, babies were small and sick. Using bottle feeding and both moms we started to help everyone. Sadly within about two weeks we lost one baby and then a week later we lost another. The 4 remaining babies began to grow but all continued to battle some illness or another. In September I brought them back to my house as 2 of the four were not growing at the right rate. Quickly it became obvious that Piglet was not well. Testing revealed suspected FIP and we lost her 4 days later. About 2 weeks after that Tigger got a fever and started to decline. Her belly filled with fluid and during a vet visit she went into respiratory distress and we heartbreakingly decided to let her go. Roo and Eeyore were doing great and growing. Roo is in fact with his furever family growing and doing great. 2 weeks ago Eeyore began to lose weight, stopped eating and started stumbling. We couldn't lose another from this litter and so we reached out for help to get treatment. Within 24 hours her walking got better and wishing 48 she was interested in food. This treatment is 12 weeks and it will save her life but it is expensive. Can you help? #fipcats #rescuecats https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm-pLJ9LFAx/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withrepost • @luxepaws As much as we don’t need more cats, the shelter wouldn’t take him. Asking the good sam to put him back in the bag & leave him back on the side of the road in Echo Park kind of seems like animal cruelty. The good sam has 2 large dogs who aren’t cat friendly & they’ve had a heck of a time trying to isolate this kid safety without their pups ripping at the doors in the house. He safe with a temp foster, but will need someplace to land once he’s neutered. He’s a total sweetie who deserves a heck of a lot more than he’s had to endure so far. If you can help, there’s a link in our bio for our foster app. Things are very tough right now, we really could use the extra help this month. Also, Echo Park neighbors, for years we’ve heard reports of animal abandonment, dogs & cats, in the park areas surrounding Dodger Stadium & the trails in Elysian Park near Angel’s Point. If you see something get a photo & please do whatever you possibly can to get the animal someplace safe. It’s not ok for people to dump their pets to be eaten by coyotes & LAPD can’t help without proof. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm5mxMiLgtY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withrepost • @givemesheltersf Only FOUR more days to #donate in 2022. https://www.givemesheltersf.org/contribute.php/mobile Alyssa's FIP treatment is done on December 31st. Alyssa is only one year old. On October 6, 2022, Alyssa started treatment for FIP. Her bloodwork showed markers that indicated dry FIP; she was failing to thrive and had unresolvable diarrhea and chronic upper respiratory infections. Fortunately, since we caught FIP early, she has made miraculous progress with her health problems, but it has been a costly journey. Just her FIP treatment alone was over $2500, not inclusive of blood work and multiple medications to resolve her other issues. We are thrilled that she will be finished on December 31st. She will start the new year with 84 days of observation and be ready for her forever home. Hooray! Would you please contribute so we can save more kitties like Alyssa? Since GMS is a 501c3 many companies will match your #donation. Posted @withrepost • @friendsofferalfelinesclt Just some reminders from @indycatsrock about normal community cat behavior during weather events. ❄️ Wind is a huge deterrent for cats to be out and about. Add blistering cold to that and most cats will shelter in place until they need to find food/water. We need to let them do this. It is their survival instincts. Those instincts have been in place for thousands of years. We all worry about our friends outside but sometimes intervening can be a danger to the cats. ❗️Do not call your cats out. If they are hunkered down, there is a reason for it. ❗️Do not put food in shelters. Cats will not sleep where there is food smell present. Every creature outdoors will be looking for resources. By placing food inside shelters, you may cause the cat to flea and look for other shelter when their normal shelter has been tainted with food smell. 💧 Fresh water is life saving for cats. Go refresh water several times a day, if you are able. 💧 Remember ping pong balls floating in water bowls keeps the surface moving and prolongs freezing. 💧 A small spoon of table sugar helps delay freezing. - Also some cats may hunker down for a day or two rather than venture out - this is normal. -Take a shovel to create a path for the cats or you may need to dig them out if a snowdrift covers the opening to their shelter door. - If you know of a cat that seeks shelter under a deck, shed, or even under a car to escape the high winds, heavy snow or sleet.....they could get snowed in and trapped. They won’t and can’t dig out. So, if you don’t know where the cat is, think, “If I was a cat, where would I hunker down? Mix kitten dry food with cats meals for extra calories, if possible. Feeding at the high point of the day will give the cats the longest duration before wet food freezes. ❗️Do not mix wet and dry food together in winter months. Dry food freezes but cats often swallow whole. ‼️Very important: Do not dump ice from water bowls at the feeding area. When ice melts, it will create dangerous wet / muddy ground, exposing cats to frigid water. https://www.instagram.com/p/CmiZORjrYkL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withrepost • @_lovedatlast Spay/neuter trip days are always the longest days! 4am-midnight this round. 😴 I'm finally calling it quits for the day with my pal Alan here. 🥰 13 cats went for fixin' today. A few adoptable LAL kittens, 1 LAL feral, and the rest were helping others with their strays or rescued babies. One lady had a handsome panther boy show up on her porch. She has been wanting to bring him inside, but she needed him vetted and combo tested first as she has other cats. I was so glad to get him in for her ahead of the winter weather, but he unfortunately tested positive for FeLV and she is so upset. She is willing to do whatever she can for him and he is a lucky boy to have her. LAL is paying for the PCR test to confirm his status, but I'm holding out hope that it was a false positive! The test was sent out today. Please send all your good vibes and prayers his way! Another cat showed up there right after he did and she is suspected to be very pregnant, so we're worried she may be positive as well now. I offered to cover her testing so we can try to make a plan for her too. We can't let a FeLV+ cat give birth to probable FeLV+ babies out in the winter weather. Cross all your pawsies for these guys to be negative. Their human is really amazing and deserves help. This is the kind of thing your support makes it possible for LAL to do. Helping cats is a given, but helping cat people with big hearts who do the right thing is a big & important mission here too. If you can chip in on today's bill, please do so we can keep on keepin' on! Link in bio for all the ways to give. 💖 https://www.instagram.com/p/CmLciaILPEL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withrepost • @littlewanderersnyc Garfield is a senior blind cat that was surrendered to NYC’s hard-working shelter by his owner “because he was blind.” He is scared out of his mind in the shelter environment and we want to help him. We would prefer to send him to a straight out adoption as he is in good health, FeLV/FIV negative and blind. Getting used to a new home is stressful so we aim to alleviate that stress. He loves dogs. He has never lived with cats but in the shelter environment he seems unfazed by other cats. To help out shelter cat Garfield and adopt or foster, send us a direct message right away. We adopt out of State. He is counting on you. @nycacc @yummovision @allaboutsavinganimals @savingsheltercats @maxine.and.thefurryfriends #garfieldlwnyc #sheltercats https://www.instagram.com/p/ClfjK0EL-Xm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withrepost • @crashsbigsids We're only a few days away from GivingTuesday! 100% of your donation goes directly towards cats in our program. Because our focus is on helping at-risk cats, their medical needs can be quite extensive when they first arrive at our doorstep. Many have severe injuries or illnesses that need serious care. It is not uncommon for one of our new residents to need an operation or two to get back on all fours. We have several donation options: •Venmo •PayPal •Check •Amazon Wishlist •Chewy Wishlist •Donate directly to our GivingTuesday fundraiser on Facebook or Instagram.* *When you sign up to donate monthly between November 15 and December 31 to a nonprofit on Facebook, Meta will match 100% of your donation after the second month’s donation. Thank you for helping us save our little corner of the world, one cat at a time! ❤️ https://www.instagram.com/p/ClfjAuqrxn_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
