The Reworking of the Family Tree
Like I said in my intro post, my main driving force was eliminating as much incest as possible. I would like to say I am successful in that goal. Most of the cats are only related through marriage. So yay for me!
I also wanted to make things make more sense plot-wise. Heathertail being Onestar's daughter was scrapped because it makes zero sense for him to have had another family after Smoke and Darktail. To me, at least. It's not necessary for his treatment of Crowfeather and it's not necessary for his character arc as a whole. However, I do think Darktail having children makes sense. In my rewrite, he doesn't know Twig and Violet are his since Echosong ran away as soon as she realized she was pregnant. He'd only realize it after meeting both of them for the first time. Twig looks just like Echosong and Violet looks just like him. And he'd want to he a better father than Onestar was, to include his children in The Kin. That is a whole other topic to explore for another time, though.
I also wanted to connect the first arc cats to the cats that appear in Bluestar's Prophecy and such in a way that made more sense and didn't create problems for future generations (Brindleface and Frostfur being sisters...). I also just want to say that it was never confirmed that Dustpelt was a Robinwing/Fuzzypelt kit in any book, ever. Only Ravenpaw in Bluestar's Prophecy and Longtail in Spottedleaf's Heart. Not Dustpelt. The authors had no intention of any of the cats in the Into the Wild allegiances to be related at all, which created problems when it was time to write prequels and such. Shuffling around litters fixes that problem, though. Sandstorm never had any relationship to Brindleface or Redtail. And she didn't with Dappletail, but Dappletail does reference having multiple litters before to Fireheart and she is ginger and white.
Speaking of, I eliminated Lilyheart's canon litter. Leafshade serves no purpose and has no personality, also Leafpool is still living in ThunderClan at the time of her birth and I don't want prefix doubles. I kept Honeyfur because I like that name and shuffled her over to Lionblaze and Cinderheart as part of their second litter. I gave Larksong to Daisy because I wanted to make her Twigbranch's foster mother. And Lilyheart seemed awfully young to me to be having children and being a grandmother before Lionblaze. And I really don't want Lionblaze being a grandfather yet because that makes him old to me, which he's not. And being a grandparent means some level of maturity, which he definitely does not have in my rewrite. So, I gave Sorrelstripe's litter to Lilyheart and Stormcloud. I really like Stormcloud and I want to give him more purpose because he kind of just stops existing after Bramblestar's Storm and that should be a crime.
I also gave Spotfur and Flywhisker to Birchfall and Whitewing because CinderLion don't need that many kids and I wanted to give Dovewing and Ivypool little sisters. FernIvy is also scrapped because she is very related to Lionblaze, sorry second cousins are still cousins speaking as someone who grew up playing with my second cousins. And I know they're third cousins. Not second cousins once removed. Direct third cousins. Besides FernIvy and the treatment/normalization of incest in the warriors fandom is a whole other conversation. Making Fernsong an outsider also felt like a cop-out to me and I wasn't sure how to narratively fit him in a way that made sense. Besides, I plan on Ivypool doing actual spy work on the DF plus its trainees, which includes Mousewhisker. They become friends in my rewrite during OotS and aren't revealed as mates until AVoS. And MinnowMouse seems like a short-lived fling to me, which is what it is in my rewrite. Sort of like a Bluestar and Oakheart situation minus the kits (and my personal favor...).
I had to scrap Blossomfall/Thornclaw since I made Spotfur a Whitewing kit, but that was fine by me since I don't really see Thornclaw as someone who wanted kits or to be a father. I made Rosepetal and Toadstep kits of a loner and Daisy instead of Spiderleg because I personally do not like Spiderleg and having kits with a cat who wasn't Clanborn does not seem in character for him, considering which cat raised him (Dustpelt... 馃槖). I made Gorsetail and Beechfur mates since it was an author suggestion (the only good one) and I like Sedgewhisker a lot and want her to be important to the plot in some regard since she shows up so much in PoT and OoTs in canon. Whitetail and Owlwhisker are the parents of Heathertail, Harespring, Whiskernose, and Larkwing. Fernstripe and Featherpelt are Sedgewhisker and Emberfoot's daughters. Larkwing being their daughter is a mistake the Wiki NEVER fixed. She was a warrior by the end of OoTS and Sedgewhisker isn't pregnant until Bramblestar's Storm.
I think those are all the important changes I've made, and they're really not that big? In the future I might erase Alderheart and Sparkpelt as BrambleSquirrel offspring just because I might want to keep Squirrelflight infertile and I definitely also want to keep BrambleSquirrel divorced. I think we should normalize cat divorces.

StarClan and the Place of No Stars
The Place of No Stars seems to not exhibit as much spiritual power of StarClan, despite being written as it's opposite. The dynamic between them is of heaven vs hell, since the books are written by WASPs who don't know anything else. The cats, however, don't subscribe to a monotheistic religion like the Erins do (and I'm just assuming things here). They worship their ancestors. StarClan controls the weather, sends omens, and can create kits. They can materialize in cat's dreams without the cats having to seek them out as actively as they do with the Dark Forest. StarClan can reach anyone. The Dark Forest seems to only be able to reach those who are vulnerable and insecure.
I'm not completely against that idea鈥攖hat a cat has to invite the Dark Forest into their lives in order for them to enter the cat's dreams and communicate with them. The only power they have that StarClan doesn't, however, is that anything done in the Dark Forest to the living is carried with them to the waking world. They can materialize in the living world just the same. But they can't control the weather or send omens. StarClan is more powerful, and that doesn't seem right to me since they're supposed to be opposites.
In my rewrite, I think the Dark Forest should be more of an Underworld rather than hell, represented by water. They thrive on, create, and enhance feelings of insecurity and vulnerability, and the Dark Forest takes on different shapes depending on who controls it (as seen with Ashfur). I imagine StarClan does the same thing. I want StarClan to be more grounded and reachable (at least for cats connected to StarClan like medicine cats and Firestar, I don't want StarClan to be as easily accessible as the they are nowadays) than the Dark Forest is, until the cats arrive at the lake. Every Clan's border touches the lake. Not every border touched the river, but Fourtrees (minus SkyClan). Trees extend towards the sky and stars. The lake is in the earth, with dark water you can't see in (Place of No Stars... do you guys see where I'm going with this). And ever since the Clans have settled in their new homes, things have been tense. Friendly relations between ThunderClan and WindClan were severed after Onestar received his nine lives and neither Clan has been on good terms with the others in literal generations. With the lake so close, seeping into their earth. The prey they catch drink from this water. The herbs that heal them are fed by the rain water that was once part of the lake. The only times that are relatively tense-free are the Gatherings, which is brought on by the full-moon truce, but there's also that huge tree StarClan can connect to and prevent fighting.
I still want the Dark Forest to be a place where cats go to get punished for their crimes. But I think there should be more of a resolution at the end of OotS on what to do with the cats that are left there. I think I'll keep the power imbalance between the Dark Forest and StarClan as the Dark Forest cats' main motivation for having trainees and trying to force cats to worship them instead, to acknowledge their existence as an afterlife as well.
I also think that since the environment of the Dark Forest is more malleable than StarClan's, that Ashfur's whole deal can still be kept after the compromise with StarClan. Ashfur can't control StarClan the same way he can the Dark Forest. He has more control over the Clans through the Dark Forest as well because of the connection to the lake, which he can also control the Moonpool with, since that's where the Moonpool water empties out into.
This is mostly just me spitballing鈥擨 will probably flesh out the concrete rules for the Dark Forest and StarClan later. I'm planning on making the Dark Forest actually scary as well, with doppelg盲ngers and what not that can replace the living if need be.
I just want the Clans' environment to be utilized more in a meaningful way.

skyclan
- dewstar & needleclaw
- dewspring is reliable generic warrior #1736292 & needleclaw is a violetshine baby so she's special To Me and rootspring is too cringefail to be deputy but tbh in this au i might give her rootspring's role & if that's the case then turtlecrawl can be deputy under dewstar
windclan
- smokestar & songleap
- in an ideal world i'd be picking sedgewhisker as future leader of windclan but she's getting a little old (馃槶馃槶馃槶) so i chose a breezepelt clone. her name is funny too. & songleap bc she's a sedgewhisker descendant & i loaf sedgewhisker
riverclan

FLIPSEED'S REWRITE
The Basics!
This is a rewrite of Power of Three and onwards, with changes to the lore of how the Clans came to be, some differences in how the Clans behave culture-wise and their religion, and made-up cats to fill in blanks! As of right now, I have a messy timeline sketch of different periods + eras, a redone warrior code, and one and a half chapters written. With this rewrite, I want to be able to differentiate the five Clans from one another besides their names + territoires, flesh out their culture, have more consistent theming + character arcs, and undo some of the ableist messaging the original series unwittingly sent out. I also have a personal mission of giving the new generation of cats actual personalities and things to do as I continue to work on my rewrite. And killing off more leaders sooner... Everything is subject to change and this is all one huge WIP. As of right now, this is all barebones, but I hope by forcing myself to talk about it I can get some actual work done on it!
Family Tree
I've also redone the family tree. I tried to keep it as incest-free as possible by shuffling litters, parents, and adding in my fill-in-the-blank cats. For example: Spotfur + Flywhisker are Whitewing/Birchfall kits, Sandstorm is Dappletail kit, and FernIvy is not a thing! You can check it out here! The family tree contains most of ThunderClan, WindClan, and a little bit of ShadowClan. I might add more to it later. I also have family trees planned out for the cats not mentioned in the linked tree.
Where to Start
As I said, I've redone the Clan lore, which you can read here. There's also the Warrior Code that has the dates they were created. My list of Clan leaders + medicine cats (in order) for my own referencing since I plan on the cats being more involved in telling stories of the past as part of their overall culture. The biggest change I've made is deciding that the Clans are not descendants from the former members of the Tribe, and the Tribe are not descendants from the former Ancient cats because... that full circle moment in OotS did nothing. So I axed it 馃槃!
Major and Minor Plot Changes
Firestar dies in PoT. I want him more involved with the Three, Bramblestar to lose a life before TBC, and I want more things for Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf to do during their arc.
Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf are revealed to be part of the Three prophecy to all four Clans publicly before their true heritage is. They join the other Clans for a bit since everyone claims that ThunderClan has been too important, but come back to ThunderClan before the fire scene.
Firestar is not the fourth cat. Debating if I really want to keep that prophecy because A) it does absolutely nothing productive and B) I don't know who the fourth cat would be.
Dawnpelt trains in the Dark Forest instead of Tigerheart. Tigerheart has a pretty good life compared to his sister. He receives an apprentice almost immediately after he gets his full name. Flametail is a medicine cat. Dawnpelt has nothing.
None of the Clan founders are related. No Clearl Sky and Thunder father-son drama. Mostly because I have zero interest in the cats introduced in DOTC. They will get mentioned in Clan history stories, though. Trust.
Longtail is made deputy after Whitestorm's death. He won't be deputy long before he's attacked by the rabbit and chooses to retire. The title then goes to Graystripe until the Twolegs come.
Other Resources to Check Out
To be added! :)

The Rewritten Timeline
Period One
- Ancients: LionClan, TigerClan, LeopardClan rule the forest, told through dramatic epics of lions getting their manes, tigers their stripes, and leopards their spots.
- Dawn: DOTC except they do not come from the Tribe of Rushing Water or the ancient cats from the lake. they are descendants of tigers and lions and leopards, with the five clans taking traits from the three big ones and dividing the forest amongst them to share in peace and harmony. there's the in between the AE and DOTC, with the Tale of Two Brothers (Gray Wing & Clear Sky), One Eye's Demise which created the Dark Forest, the Bloodiest Battle and the creation of StarClan, and Moth Flight's Vision which led to the Moonstone and creation of medicine cats. Thunderstar and Skystar are not father/son in this au. All Clan founders are the same age in this au 馃憤
- Might of Justice/Code Era: the warrior code is established in a series of events that have since become fables. The tradition of the Gathering on the full moon is also established by Birchstar of SkyClan after the events of Cloudberry's Lament. Half-moon meeting for medicine cats is also established in this era by Swiftfoot of WindClan during the events of The Medicine Cats Decide
- Skyfall Era: SkyClan gets driven out. The name initially puts blame on SkyClan, but this era is eventually referred to as StarClan's Failing or The Four's Secret in modern versions of the stories
Period Two
- Golden Era: After SkyClan was forced out of their home, the four remaining Clans seemed to prosper, proving to those who sympathized with SkyClan that they were better off without them and the four Clans were righteous. Peace and harmony were restored for a brief period, until Ripplestar's attack
- Bloodstained Era: The Clans quickly fell into old habits of killing and plundering one another, still relatively lawless in regards to battles and borders. Four new rules were added during this era in order to prevent the copius amount of bloodshed that had happened without rules to guide the Clan cats. The Clans realized that in order to distinguish themselves from rogues, they had to maintain some semblance of dignity and honor as well as respect for each other
Period Three
- Secrecy Era: The Clans stopped relying on each other and Gatherings became short due to each Clan trying to prevent inter-Clan romances after Mapleshade's death. Oakstar is also conducting his raids on Twolegplace during this time in order to appease StarClan and make sure none of his warriors betray him again
- Thunder's Beginning Era: Goosefeather's birth marks the beginning of this era. His prophecies changed ThunderClan, and by extension all five Clans, forever. Pinestar's Secret was added to the code during this era and an interpretation of the code began to gain traction: where loyalty is stressed, might = right, and some rules are deemed not as important or are tossed completely. This era ends with Brokenstar succeeding Raggedstar
- Fire Alone Era: Rusty is brought into ThunderClan and eventually becomes Firestar. This era covers the events of the first series and ends with Scourge's demise. This era also establishes the banning of cruel renaming in the code. Also Longtail is made deputy instead of Graystripe at the end 馃憤. After Longtail loses his vision, he steps down as deputy and then Graystripe is chosen 馃槉.
Period Four
- Midnight Era: This era covers the events of Brambleclaw and crew leaving to the Clans making it to the lake
- Sunset Era: Begins with Tallstar making Onestar leader instead of Mudclaw and basically the second half of TNP. Ends with Firestar choosing Brambleclaw as his deputy in replacement of the missing Graystripe
Period Five
Some cats argue if Period Five and Four are actually separate, since all the events that happened are so close together time-wise, but others argue they are distinct and separate due to the different prophecies that ruled both periods
- Beyond Stars Era: Covers basically all of PoT, with changes to who knows about the Three and Sol's influence and Firestar dying in the fire scene. Hollyleaf's Gathering outburst is what officially adds the medicine cats can't have kits rule to the code
- Omens/Apocalypse Era: Covers all of OotS, with Bramblestar taking over ThunderClan and Rowanstar taking over ShadowClan. The Clans are uneasy with Hollyleaf's disappearance, since they all thought she was part of the Three. Dovewing's discovery of her own powers puts most cats' minds at ease. There are small groups of cats in each Clan that fear the Three and their power and believe they are going to bring the worst and destroy the Clans with their power. This era ends with the Great Battle
- Recovery Era: Dovewing's Silence & Bramblestar's Storm take place during this time, where the Clans are trying to decide how to deal with the DF trainees and the loss of a good chunk of their Clanmates. Two new rules are added to the code during this time. One for dealing with DF trainees and Bramblestar's rule about helping the Clans
Period Six
- Return of SkyClan Era: covers all of AVoS, Hawkwing's Journey, and Tigerheart's Shadow. The Kin stays for longer this time, Onestar and Darktail still die together but at the end instead, and Tree's mediator position is added to the code
- Longest Night/Cruel Season/Ashfur's Reign Era: begins with the long leaf-bare and ends with Bristlefrost's double death and the restructuring of the code
