15 April 2024
Photographer Mahmoud Shalha and journalist Anas Al-Sharif document the discovery of a new mass grave within Al-Shifa Hospital complex. The victims appear to have been murdered during the most recent occupation of the complex, which lasted nearly 2 weeks. The exact death toll is still not known, as bodies keep being discovered. It is known that there were around 30,000 people sheltering, being treated, or working at the complex when the occupation invaded on 18 March. Many (~25,000) were forcibly expelled, some remained for the duration of the siege, but more and more bodies continue to be found. Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reports that current estimates place the number of martyrs, missing, and seriously injured (often resulting in death) at 1500 people.
Photos under cut. Not particularly graphic, but very upsetting.

MAJOR UPDATE
Very important update from our friend @moatazart! Please read!!!
We have come a long way and there is only a little left.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. There are 15 days left. Can you reach the goal before that?
Thank you all
Tumblr media
Moataz, Mariam, and Maria are SO close to having enough money to evacuate! The goal is almost 75% achieved!
There are only about 2 weeks left of the campaign, and conditions in north Gaza continue to deteriorate. If you can give even just a few dollars, it would be an immense help! If every one of our followers gave just $2, Moataz’s family would have enough money to evacuate! If half of our followers gave just $4 or if even one quarter of our followers gave just $7.50, Moataz’s family would meet their goal!
HERE IS THE DONATION LINK!!! You can also click the link below
PLEASE keep up the momentum! Let’s help this family escape genocide!
Thank you all so much❤️

horrific article from the bbc broke last about israel detaining healthcare workers, stripping them naked, and beating them for days on end. we already knew israel was doing this to palestinian detainees, but to be deliberately targeting medical personnel--doctors and nurses and medical assistants on the ground trying to heal wounded palestinians--and then literally torturing them are on levels of cruelty i can't even begin to compute.
a humanitarian law expert in this article calls the footage coming out of this "concerning." i call it the terms racists love to throw baselessly at arabs: barbaric and inhumane.

1 April 2024
Journalist Anas Al-Sharif documents a woman in Al-Shifa Hospital complex weeping as she looks for the remains of her son. He was crushed by an IOF tank, and she’s trying to find any piece of him she can, even a single bone. All day and night, Al-Shifa has been a rush of volunteers and first responders searching for martyrs. Many of them are no longer whole enough to be identified due to IOF abuse and decomposition.

Whenever I see people try to differentiate what is “Israel” and what is the “Palestinian state” I always have a very awkward feeling - which is why I think a lot of people need to reevaluate how they speak about Palestine and Israel, specifically what they define as occupied Palestine.
Tumblr media
My father’s family is from a village in Jaffa (the district), which is now part of what most people define as “mainland Israel” or an “undisputed” part of Israel - like that land was acquired legally or ethically and an unequivocal part of what is Israel vs what is considered (at least to some) Palestine (the West Bank & Gaza).
My father’s family had the choice to flee or die and to this day cannot return home to Jaffa. It leaves me with a strange feeling when people discuss a hypothetical “two state solution” as if that land is inarguably Israel and the West Bank and Gaza is inarguably Palestine - my family is not from the West Bank or Gaza, they’re from Jaffa. Proudly Palestinians from Jaffa - they’re not Israeli and never be Israeli, they predate the modern colonial state of Israel.
When people talk about occupied Palestine, they’re usually referring to the 1967 borders and the increasing settlements in the West Bank, when Palestinians talk about occupied Palestine, we’re talking about all of it - every corner of what people define as “mainland Israel” there is a story of Palestinian dispossession - It includes my family and thousands of others.
Leaving this map here for people to get an idea of how much destruction of Palestinian life and communities happened in what people see as an “undisputed part of Israel” - there is a reason the Palestinian population here plummeted in 1948.
In short:
