also I don't know why we have to do this every fucking time but let's go over this again: people have never been allowed to post feedback regarding site rules and policies on the forums. that has never been allowed. the threads always get locked the posts always get deleted. and every time either of these actions are taken, staff says, directly, to send feedback through contact us. ranting about being 'censored' on tumblr and going "omg staff are literally deleting our posts the evil cowards" is not going to change this policy. I have seen this happen dozens of times over the past 7 years I've been playing this game and it has not once changed the policy!

flight rising staff reads the forum threads and they read our tumblr posts and they read contact us tickets. and then when they read and consider our feedback, they formulate + release an official response (which, and you're not gonna believe this, takes more than 15 minutes), and then they read the feedback to that.

just. can we please criticize staff's shitty decisions and even shittier communication skills WITHOUT it devolving into conspiracy theories. just once. for me. I'm starting to feel like I'm in a time loop.

the scar rule for hatchling skins is absolutely bullshit bordering on pure ableism, but I'm really trying to wrap my head around "Lolita-inspired" because I straight up cannot tell if they mean the book (in which case they really could have worded this better) or the fashion (in which case they either clearly don't know what lolita fashion is or they're strictly talking about the more "sexualized" subcultures which again really could have been worded better lol!! like why even use lolita as an example in the first place then!)

site rules in general but especially skin rules tend to be wayyy too broad and unclear because staff is overly cautious about Everything. and talking about skins specifically, they should really be evaluated on a case-by-case basis instead of. whatever this is. because yeah certain clothes can look too sexual but I would think that the skin mods are capable of evaluating that on their own? did we really need the incredibly unclear wording of "Designs should not adultify the hatchling"? like the wording here is so broad that you could easily make a case for hatchling skins featuring little baby business suits also being against the rules. really hope the clarifications they said they're writing up will like. actually clarify things.

but I do want to push back against the people who are saying that perma-baby dragons are "canonically an adult in a child's body" because that's absolutely not true and we need to differentiate between gameplay mechanics and canonical lore because what the fuck is the auction house then? if you use a scroll of maturity on a day-old hatchling are they a child in an adult's body until they turn 5? if you have a perma-baby that is an adult in a child's body/something similar in your lore that's totally fine! but let's not pretend that's true site-wide because the scroll of eternal youth + its associated flavor text never say that and there's no official lore that says it either!! a lot of people use scrolls of eternal youth to keep their child ocs in their hatchling pose and that is an equally valid interpretation of youth scrolls.

So I know people are gonna be complaining about no zombie hatchling skins and I’m pretty disappointed about that too, but, can we all agree that the most important thing to push back on is the censorship of scars. The thing that isn’t just disappointing and annoying, but actually ableist and that people with more obvious scarring (e.g. burn survivors) have been talking about how other media censoring them or treating them like they’re frightening or “adult content” affects them for a while now. The fact that something reflecting an uncontrollable aspect of how real-life people, including children, appear is being put under the category of “content we don’t want displayed or communicated via our hatchlings.” The fact that healed scars are being put in the same “content” category as ACTIVE WOUNDS.

Neopets Users: Half of the website is bungled and sitting on top of 90's spaghetti code that is circumvented by having about 50% of the pages to load in the old website format, we can't change our Usernames since they act as our User IDs that are inexorably tied to our accounts, and the only way we can get some apparel is through a loot box that costs real money, sometimes upwards of 10 bucks for a 25% chance of getting what we want. That's ok tho, my favorite neopet has a custom outfit that looks really nice :] Sucks when the clothing that costs realass money doesn't show up on my pet though. I hope they fix that soon
