imo "drowning in the blue nile, he sent me downtown lights" is a brilliant lyric because downtown lights is not only a song by The Blue Nile but, if you wouldn't know that firsthand, it also sounds like taylor is referring to joe (blue) which she connects back to in 'this cage was once just fine / am I allowed to cry' and I love this verse so much
