About Akechi’s survival, Royal pretty much confirms that Goro is alive, since 1. He is seen in the post credits scene and 2. Atlus has never confirmed his death, even when they had a second chance to do so, which means that they are half-hiding that he is alive to keep the suspense, and completely hiding how he survived.

There are a few clues and lines in Royal that tell us what could have happened to him, though.

First, the reality Maruki creates is an addition to the original game, but the main story doesn’t change. Therefore, Akechi is alive in both games. It’s just that we see him in action in Royal because he appears in Takuto’s reality as Akira’s wish. 

Second and most important: Akechi says that he doesn’t remember what happened between:

>The engine room, where he is about to shoot his cognitive double.

TO>12/24: the day Sae asks Joker to testify.

The question is, then, is WHY he is unable to be around when Sae tells Joker to testify. In the dream world, he appears right there because that’s what he would have done: offer himself and testify against Shido.

but in the real world he DOESN’T APPEAR which can only mean that there’s an exterior force that doesn’t allow Goro to go there.

The only question left is what force is that. Since he doesn’t remember that fragment of time, I can make a few hypothesis:

He in some sort of coma. That would explain why he is alive but does not remember anything and it also makes him unable to go to Sae.

He is kept sleeping in the Velvet Room: similar to being in coma, but with more magic and less explaining to do.

He is really ‘dead’ during that fraction of time, but something cognitive happens later, between 12/24 and the day Akira leaves Tokyo, that makes him go back to being alive, thus explaining why he doesn’t appear during Christmas but does in 3/20 when he is seen at the train station. (although I doubt this is factible because the second Goro regained his memory he would have been the one to get Joker out of jail by going to the police and testifying himself.)

He loses his memory. After the fight with his double, he goes back to the real world but forgets everything about the thieves. That also would explain why he doesn’t testify and why he doesn’t remember. Also, the public seems to slowly forget about him in both games, which would explain why, even with no memory, no one would recognize him as Goro Akechi.

Personally, the first two are the ones that seem more plausible. Also, him being in a coma would open questions on who is taking care of him. A random hospital? or did some shady people find him and decided to hide and keep unconscious Goro in the dark from the public? Maybe it’s the same people Goro is seen with at the train station. 

Either way, these are the first and most likely situations that come to mind to what could have happened to Goro, following the clues that Royal gave us.

Chronic migraines. Dyslexia. ADHD. Autism. Vision impairment. Visual sensory processing disorder. Colorblind. & Neurotypical. Abled.

These are aspects of people that are affected by Discord’s new update to its color scheme and font, and there very well could be more I didn’t mention. Yes, you read it right, abled people and neurotypical people too. You are not immune to eyestrain.

What are the issues?

A font which is both overly uniform and overly squished, with many letters that have essentially the same silhouette as others and could easily be flipped and look the same as another. ▻ This is dyslexic-unfriendly, as well as generally harder to read and an issue for people with visual impairments who may find that letters bleed together or that their eyes ‘skip’ over letters or words at times.

A color scheme that is so highly saturated that it both immediately draws your attention and also makes you want to immediately look away. ▻ This is generally unfriendly, affecting people with sensory issues the most (ADHD/Autism, migraines, processing disorders), but it’s also colorblind-unfriendly. Due to the differences between the colors being exclusively the part that changes the named color (hue; “green” vs “blue”) instead of both that and the colors being different intensities (saturation; “neon green” vs “leaf green”), they look practically identical.

Aren’t there more? No. This is pretty much all that was changed.

Discord changed TWO THINGS and pretty much managed to land every single person possible to genuinely hurt with a visual design change that doesn’t add or remove any elements. Including abled and neurotypical people!!!

Discord is currently a good number of people’s lifeline and way to connect with others. And with this change, they just made using their app hurt. They know that we can’t leave their app without leaving our friends and communities behind. They know that if they can just sweep this under the rug, they won’t have to do a thing.

...So we can’t let them.

Why would Discord do this?

It’s actually fairly simple. Discord was hemorrhaging money from its very conception. Discord only exists because investors think it’ll make money in the future. If Discord doesn’t do as well, investors will push to make it “better” or they’ll drop their funding. Discord was probably forced into this situation, they probably knew exactly what would happen.

We have to show their investors that Discord was right.

What can we do to fix this?

DON’T:

Reply to Discord’s tweet about the design change. ▻ It gives Discord more attention, and if any complaints are acknowledged they are directed to Discord’s accessibility forums.

ONLY post on Discord’s accessibility forums. ▻ It gives Discord stats to work with, but it also means the outcry isn’t public. We need everyone to see this, not just Discord.

Megami Ibunroku Persona: Shadow Maze - English translation of the official P1 novel is done!

Hi there.

Some of you may not know me, but I’m the guy who translated the Persona 1 manga. And today I present to you Megami Ibunroku Persona: Shadow Maze, the official Persona 1 novelization!

God, I’ve been working on this translation for so long, it’s good to be done already. It took me almost six years, but in my defense it wasn’t like the translation was the only thing I’ve done during this entire time. I swear there was a point where I must’ve gone two years without touching it. Regardless, it’s done.

So… English is not my first language. I like to believe that my English is very good, but chances are there are some small stuff here and there that sound stiff or not quite natural. I went through the text multiple times to fix stuff, but I don’t have an editor. If you come across a composition that isn’t quite right, please tell me. I may release an updated version if there’s a non-insignificant number of changes to be made.

Q. So, what is this?

Megami Ibunroku Persona: Shadow Maze is an official Persona 1 novel, published in 1997 by Aspect Novels, written by Naoko Korekata.

Q. Cool, what is the novel about?

It tells the story from the first Persona game, but Maki is the protagonist and the novel is written in first person.

Q. Wait, what about the regular protagonist? Does he not exist in the novel?

He’s still around, he just isn’t the protagonist anymore.

Q. Who’s this Jay guy?

The game protagonist. The Western fandom got used to calling him Naoya thanks to the manga, but just like Minato/Makoto, Souji/Yu and Akira/Ren, the P1 protagonist has multiple names in different adaptations.

Q. Can I read this without any knowledge of the game?

Sadly, no. While it technically tells the story of the entire game, it glosses over a lot of stuff.

That being said, you don’t need to have played the game. Reading the manga also works! (Please read the P1 manga)

Q. So, have you got any Persona or Megami Tensei translations in the works?

Not really. Someone at the Megami Tensei Wiki was kind enough to share the Jin novels, and if no translator has picked them up yet, I can do it. If I do, I’ll try releasing the chapters as I finish them, rather than waiting until I’ve finished the entire novel.
