The final boss of “learning social skills” is seeing someone online say something about a special interest of yours that’d be the literal perfect opportunity for you to talk about it but deciding not to do it because the person made the comment so long ago it’d be kind of weird to reply now. If you can restrain yourself, you’ll be awarded the “King of Acting Normal” prize on national television by the president. Or so I’m told.

Guys. Guys please. We have to remember that protagonist is not a stand in word for hero and antagonist is not a stand in word for villain. Please. We learned this in middle school. The protagonist is the character the audience follows. The antagonist is the character who is working against the protagonist.

Kissbone cove resort
Magbagacay, Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte Province 6616 Philippines
Pretty tiny roadside. About as modern as the rest of the Spanish colonials here. Which is a bit better than the usual shacks at least. But it's showers are the same as my grandparents house and it's bucket and pail time.
Been a miserably sweaty time here.

parallel world pharmacy is briefly on the TV on animex on this hotel tv. Pharmacist researcher working into midnight as he constantly researches for the cure to the sickness that claimed this little girl, and in his sleep gets switched with a ruler of some fantasy world. Interesting enough isekai plot. But I wonder if the ruler is now in the body of an overworked pharmacist?
That's an equally interesting story. A ruler who is used to royalty, surrounded by overworked med students. Teaching them to have it easy and relax.

Cousins out back from my grandparents' house climbed a tree and got us some coconuts. And with wacks of a machete got us coconut water.
This one had like a liter of water inside. That would be like 20 dollars in the store.

The brothers Tarn and Zach Adams, AKA Toady One and ThreeToe, started working on a little passion project of a videogame called Dwarf Fortress twenty years and two months ago.
For over 20 years, the game, while not open source, was (and still is) free for all. It's possibly the most complex videogame ever built, and it's free, supported just by donations until very recently. They published the earnings every month, and literally not a single month since they started accepting them they reached even what they would have gotten with two US minimum wage jobs:

Finally, they partnered with a game development studio to touch up the user interface a bit and launch a paid Steam version of the game. It was launched exactly a month ago today.
In the month since the launch day, the steam version, at $30 a copy, has sold
half a million copies
That's 15 million in a month, and even subtracting Steam's 30% fee, it's over 10 million dollars for the Adams brothers and kitfox games.
I started playing Dwarf Fortress 15 years ago, after reading @kierongillen posting about it on Rock Paper Shotgun. I've been playing it on and off, but I don't think there has been a single year since then that I didn't build at least one dorfy fortress (my Dropbox account still has a folder with a savegame from 2009! 🥲). I can't count the number of nights my hyper focus triggered and I ended playing with my dwarfs until at least 4am. I've send donations to the Adams a couple of times, and of course I bought the game the minute it was available on Steam. So yeah, I'm getting a bit emotional about this two wonderful nerds, who used to send crayon drawings to anyone donating to the project, getting massive recognition and financial stability after all these years.
So Toady and ThreeToe, I raise my green glass (clear glass? In this economy?) goblet of dwarven wine to you, wonderful nerds that made my life so much funnier, and cheer for your success! May your days be filled with adamantine clothes and obsidian furniture!
