How would the ROs react if they see MC have a bruise on their lips and only to found out it's because MC accidentally fell and hit a chair?

Isn't this... the same scenario as with a hickey though? Or is it supposed to imply somebody beat up the MC?

I'm just going to write the ROs thinking MC got beaten up.

Basil: "Ok, who did that, I need a lock of their hair to burn at the altar. Oh. A chair, you say? Well, I can't curse a chair, that's just dumb."

Anita: *is shocked at first, but waits for the whole story* "Aw, you poor thing..." *gets stuff to tend to MC's bruise*

Reem: *instantly gets up, fists balled, muscles working... oh Reem... [excuse me]* "What happened? Who? I swear to fuck, I'm gonna end up on the news..." *is relieved when told it was just a chair, also patches up MC*

Flo: *looking over his shoulder* "Huh. Do I have to kill someone?"

MC: "I just fell on a chair."

Flo: "Okay then :)" *goes back to watching Bruce Lee movies*

Basil would be very nervous and suspicious of the MC right off the bat. [You can find out as the story goes on why he would have this reaction, it'll be brought up in Chapter 4 which is currently in the works.] He'd kind of shut down and not talk to MC for a while, until MC would just come out and ask what's wrong. He'd be intensely relieved upon hearing the real explanation and apologize a hundred times for not trusting the MC more.

Anita would also be really insecure and nervous upon seeing that [also gonna be explained], but she knows communication is important, so while she would be outright terrified the whole time, she would in fact ask the MC if it's a hickey.

Reem is the most chill about it. Not because she wouldn't be extremely hurt if the MC was cheating [she would be heartbroken], but she's just very bold and gentle and wouldn't jump to conclusions. She'd address it openly, simply going, "What happened there on your neck, honey/baby/[whatever nickname she'll have picked for the MC]?" She would also get MC some salve right away for the bite ^^

Basil (crushing): "Not yet they're not. But I'm working on it. Feel free to go for it anyhow, it'll give MC some frame for comparison." [Said with a smug smile, even though he's sweating a bit.]

Basil (dating): "You're looking at him." [Smiling, proud of himself.]

Anita (crushing): "I-I think not? I hope not... Ugh, just ask someone else!"

Anita (dating): "Well, yeah, kinda actually they're with... me?" [She's fumbling, she'd be kind of nervous in this situation. She'd want to "defend" the MC for herself but lacks the confidence to say it without stuttering.]

Flo (crushing): "Uh...." [Brain booting up, confusing feelings surfacing. Highly uncomfortable. He's just staring at the person, trying to figure out what to answer. Honesty wins out.] "No."

Flo (dating): "Me :)"

Reem (crushing): "Nope, but ask me again in a week. If you catch my drift."

Reem (dating): "Yes. Hi."

Perri: also autistic, with social anxiety & insomnia

Ravi: PTSD. Beyond that, I'm honestly unsure specifics at this point, but this man is not neurotypical.

So I just had the (not really) revolutionary idea to give MC the possibility of choosing a "best friend" from the ROs. Like, a non-romantic but close relationship. This would be determined during the same choice sequence in Chapter 4 where MC is also able to reconsider their romantic notions.

At first, I thought "oh yeah I'll add this for the MCs who aren't interested in romance" but then I went "holup, that's kind of unfair; MCs who are romancing one of the ROs SHOULD actually have the opportunity to be close friends with another". It would only make sense. Also, it'd be especially neat if an MC who's romancing one of the Malak siblings could be best friends with the other. Sister/Brother in law-style.

I think I really want this option in the game, but I'm... hesitant. That's a lot of extra content for me to write. It might be a bit easier if the best friend option was restricted to non-romancers. Idk I need outside input.

Okay so nobody was wondering, but in my head, Anita Merrick sounds like Shadowheart from Baldur's Gate 3. Like I don't know why but whenever I read her dialogue lines, I hear them in Shadowheart's voice in my head. Especially when Anita's sassing/teasing, like when Shart speaks with that small lilt

I just read over some basics on the Irish elk, and was confused it was called a deer... But that makes sense now!! Haha thanks for educating me ;) I suppose I got to say "It's quite a deer" then!! My personal obsession with megafauna mostly revolves around Titanoboa, the short-faced bear and some deep sea giants, so my knowledge around most of the rest is admittedly limited.

Sorry, I digress. I like big creatures. (You might say, size matters... I'll see myself out.) I'm not an expert though, I probably know less about Titanoboa than you do about the giant not-deer-elk.

And no, nooo not distracting! I'm so happy to receive a message like this. Thank you for typing this out, I'm serious. It means a great deal to me that you can see yourself in these characters. A lot of their aspects are highly personal to me as well, so having them be received in such a positive way gives me the fuzzy feelings (TM).

holy shit I just discovered the if and I love it so much!!!! I'm autistic and the option to say that you stimmed a lot was so awesome. love flo, esp bc one of my special interests is the Irish elk, which is an extinct megafauna

idk if this sounds weird, but like this feels like a game where I am actually the target audience and it's so freeing

Hello!! I was wondering how the ROs would react if MC just picked them up randomly (or cause they were exited or smt. For example like,, bride style carrying them??)

The way Anita would melt at this!! She'd be over the moon, giggling like a schoolgirl. She also might just get comfortable in MC's arms. She's affection-starved, so... surprise! She lives there now.

Basil would think it's really fun. He'd probably share in the MC's excitement, whatever it was about. He's also used to getting picked up by his Dad (Mr Laurier Sr is huge and used to lift and toss his son around for fun all the time when he was little, and sometimes still does). So you're triggering happy, nostalgic memories for him! He'd probably feel super safe and loved.

Reem isn't used to getting picked up due to her height, so MC would quite literally be sweeping her off her feet! She'd laugh and then immediately try to make out with the MC, because frankly, I think getting carried bridal style would do things to her.

FLO WOULD SCREAM. I mean you're picking up a guy who's built like the fucking Undertaker, what the hell is going on how are you doing this???? How are you carrying him bridal style this is terrifying
