Tumblr media
YOU HATE SHEN RICKY with your entire being. When you see him, your blood boils and steam comes out of your ears. When you hear his voice, your eardrums bleed and you get the worst migraine imaginable. When you hear about him, you complain for hours on end.
Once upon a time, you hated Kim Gyuvin too. He was guilty by association; if Ricky was that terrible to Hiyyih, there was no way Gyuvin wasn’t terrible either. You’d only met him once before Ricky and Hiyyih’s relationship took a turn for the worse—they’d been attempting to “merge friend groups,” in her words. He’d been awkward most of the time, cracking a joke or two when it seemed right and offering his two cents from time to time.
Back when Ricky wasn’t your mortal enemy, you felt many ways about Kim Gyuvin. He was tall and he was handsome, he was nice and you’d heard about how much he cared for Ricky and his other friends. The day before things went south, you’d nearly asked Hiyyih for his number.
Now, you wanted to hate him. You had to hate him.
You didn’t like admitting the fact that you didn’t hate him.
You don’t know how you got here. When you put your thinking cap on and consider what led to your fling with Kim Gyuvin, you can’t pinpoint an exact catalyst. Maybe it was the moment you met him, four months after Ricky and Hiyyih started dating. Maybe it was the moment you ran into him at a party drunk off your ass, and took all your anger towards Ricky out on him.
Maybe it was when he took you home and made sure you got there okay.
Whatever it was, now you were in possibly the worst position of your life. You’d run into the bathroom and locked the door, phone in one hand and a cup of water in the other. Your friend—perhaps an ex-friend, now—was banging on the door, demanding you come out and explain yourself.
For the past five months, you’ve done an outstanding job at sneaking around with Gyuvin. From getting caught in traffic from an accident when you really wanted Dominoes, to going to visit your parents, you had a mountain of excuses that all covered up every escapade you had. Both your friends and his were none the wiser to your schemes, and you’d been completely okay with that.
“I can’t believe you’re dating Kim Gyuvin!”
“I’m not dating Kim Gyuvin!” you yelled back, confident in your announcement because it wasn’t a lie. Sure, maybe you’d kissed him a few times or taken a couple of romantic walks with him, but you’d avoided ever defining your relationship in fear of this exact situation. And because of the raging guilt you both felt for having any feelings for the other.
Minju kept banging on the door and you hurriedly put your cup down on the bathroom counter, searching for your phone in your pockets. Once you found it, you opened your messages app with so much fervor that you could’ve set the screen on fire.
You scrolled through your messages, scanning over everyone who could possibly save you. Hiyyih probably wouldn’t talk to you for a week, but Youngeun and Hikaru wouldn’t drop you over this—hopefully. You sent them both a text, a hurried cry for help as Minju continued shaking the doorknob.
“Talk to me when you’re sober!” you called out, taking a seat on the edge of the bathtub. Subconsciously, your knee began to bounce up and down, and you resisted the urge to chew your fingers off as you waited for Hikaru or Youngeun to reply.
“How could you do this, [First]?” a new voice rang out, and you shut your eyes, taking a deep breath.
You didn’t know what you had done wrong—well, you did, but there was no way it was wrong enough to warrant this. Had you begun talking to Gyuvin while Ricky and Hiyyih had been dating, would they still be treating you like this? You were unsure of the answer.
Nevertheless, you tried to convince yourself you didn’t regret your time spent with Gyuvin. He was kind, nicer than anyone you’d ever dated, and he seemed to care about you. He asked how your day was and listened intently as you described whatever you had done. He held you when you cried and shared in your joy when you were happy.
He was good to you. Was that such a crime?
Five minutes passed, and both Hikaru and Youngeun hadn’t replied. Minju and her friend, who you couldn’t identify from their voice alone, still screamed at you from outside the door. They’d stopped the banging, but every few seconds they’d jiggle the doorknob as if you’d unlock the door.
Desperation overtook you, and you felt as though you had no choice at this point. You were stuck in your mind, wondering why Hiyyih was letting people you barely knew harass you into explaining yourself for something that wasn’t any of their business.
So, in your panic, you called Gyuvin. You had his number memorized, mostly because you’d mutually agreed not to save each other into your phones to avoid any suspicion, so it took less than 5 seconds to have the dialtone filling your ear.
One ring. Two rings. Three rings and he answered, and you practically heard the smile in his voice. “My dearest, darling [First],” he said, a slight sing-song tone to his voice. “Whatever can I do for you?”
“Open the goddamn door!” Minju yelled, a lot louder than she’d been yelling before. She jiggled the doorknob again, and you flinched, letting out another big sigh.
“What’s going on?”
“Please come pick me up,” you said in a hushed tone, not wanting to explain everything over the phone. “I’ll text you my address. I’m desperate. Please.”
“I’ll be there as soon as possible. Are you at Hiyyih’s? I can be there in five.”
How he knew where Hiyyih lived, you didn’t know, but you were glad he did. “Yeah, I am. Please hurry. I don’t want to be here anymore.”
“I’m on my way.”
You hung up the phone, not letting him say anything else. Minju and her accomplice kept banging on the door, but for a few moments, they stopped. You heard another voice in the hall, Yeseo’s, but struggled to make out what she was saying—something about how they could yell at you another time, and that Hiyyih needed their support.
You felt like a criminal. Maybe you deserve to feel like a criminal.
All you knew was that Gyuvin made you happy, and that, sometimes, maybe it was worth prioritizing your happiness over other people’s comfort. At the same time, you felt like your friends should always be more important than a boy, and that losing your years of friendship with them wasn’t worth a single man.
Minju and the anonymous ‘other’ were pulled away, leaving you to sit in silence. It was a loud and uncomfortable quiet, the type that assaulted your ears and your mind the longer you sat in it—you felt miserable. Everything about this was miserable.
Yesterday, you talked to Gyuvin about this exact situation. You’d been on the phone with him, twiddling your thumbs as you stared at your bedroom ceiling. “What do you think would happen?” you asked, counting the random divots above you. “If Ricky and Hiyyih found out.”
Gyuvin had groaned, and you listened to him turn over in his bed, which sounded like sheets crumpling and fabric moving. “I don’t even want to think about it. I think it would be worse for you.”
“Well, I guess they can’t find out about anything, because we aren’t anything,” you replied, the corner of your mouth twitching into a smile. “Technically. We just hang out from time to time.”
“Yeah, just friends. Nothing more. You’re like Eumppapa’s dog walker.”
How ironic your conversation had been. Your phone buzzed and you picked it up immediately, feeling a terrible sense of relief wash over you. Your knight in shining armor, simultaneously the big bad dragon, had come to rescue you from your tower.
You ripped the window open, cringing at the beeping sound that echoed through the house as a result. Hiyyih’s parent’s security system was a good thing most of the time, but, at times like this, it was a bad thing. Nevertheless, you continued your escape, hopping out of the bathroom window and running towards Gyuvin’s parked car.
By the time you made it to the correct side of the car, Hiyyih was already emerging onto the front lawn, yelling for you not to leave. You didn’t listen, ripping the passenger door open and climbing in. Gyuvin didn’t wait for you to put your seatbelt on, speeding off into the night.
“I didn’t mean for this to happen,” you breathed out, panickedly putting on your seatbelt. “I promise. It was an accident. I got careless.”
“I don’t care about who knows and who doesn’t,” he said, glancing at you. He took your hand into his, resting it on the center console. “I care about what in the world was happening when you called. Why were they banging on the door? What in the world elicits that kind of reaction?”
“Sneaking around with the best friend of your best friend’s ex,” you sighed, looking out the window. “I just feel awful. I don’t know why. This is awful.”
Gyuvin stayed quiet for a moment, and you suddenly became aware of the quiet classical music coming from the radio. He must’ve been in the car with Zhang Hao before he came to rescue you—and the fact that you recognized that made you feel even more guilty.
“It’s the bro-code morality,” he finally answered, squeezing your hand. You looked over at him, somewhat confused. “You know. Not really the best etiquette to date your friend’s ex, and I guess it applies to your friend’s ex’s best friend, too. I feel it sometimes.”
“But I’m happy. And I think you’re happy. I don’t want to lose that.”
“I am happy, and you won’t. We’ll deal with it, the fallout and everything,” Gyuvin said. You were drowning in anxiety and wanted nothing more than to drown in your bed. “It’s Ricky’s fault for being a dickwad in the first place, not mine. And, if the time Hiyyih spent with him meant anything, she’ll at least know that I’m not a bad person.”
“I hope.”
You pulled up to a red light, and Gyuvin looked over at you. He looked tired, and you realized he was wearing his pajamas, meaning he’d probably gotten out of bed to come save you. That made you feel even more guilty and warm and fuzzy at the same time. “And we might need to stop avoiding the question we’ve been ignoring for nearly half a year.”

you belong with me
sung hanbin x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you sat on the bleachers watching the football team practice for the big game which was coming up. the sun beat down, casting long shadows across the field as the team ran through exhausting drills. “it’s not like you to sit here and watch practice.” you looked to your left and saw your good friend, matthew, take a seat next to you.
“it’s not like we have any exams to be revising for.” you scoffed, crossing your arms.
“you’re here to watch him aren’t you?” he asked, shifting his focus onto you.
him?
sung hanbin is the kind of person who seems to have it all - looks, charm, intelligence, and talent. with a winning smile and a confident aura, he turns heads wherever he goes. but beneath the surface, there's so much more to him than the title of captain of the football team or school president. he's always there for his friends and loved ones, offering support and encouragement when they need it most.
“was it obvious?” the question came through a laugh as you leaned back and finally take a look at your best friend.
“is the window not enough for you?” he joked, earning a light whack on the back of his nape.
hanbin was your neighbour. you found out when the moving truck was a bit too loud one sunday morning, but you were quick to receive an apology from the boy with a box of homemade pastries. although you were yearning to go back to your bed, your parents invited him in and made you guys talk. you were quick to learn that he was going to start in your school and major in the same subject as you.
after a long talk, you returned to your room and sat at your desk, unable to get his smile out of your head. it lights up his entire face, filling the room with warmth and joy. it's the kind of smile that's contagious, making you feel happy and at ease. you just met the boy and you’re already falling for him?
you pushed yourself towards the blinds, wanting to let some sunshine in. but you find yourself smiling at what you find once you open them. the handsome boy was smiling, holding up a sheet of paper at his window.
[do u wanna walk to class together on monday?]
you fought back a smile as you shook your head at his action and rummaged around for a notepad and pen.
[gimme one good reason why i should]
[you don’t have to ofc! but i feel like it would be nice!]
and from then on, the two of you hit it off. everything about him made you want him to be around you more and more. sure, it was the little things, like holding the door open or making sure you were walking on the side furthest from the cars. but also he learnt your coffee order and brought you it weekly, and always brought a spare hoodie on the cooler days since you weren’t the best at dressing according to the weather.
at ungodly hours of the morning, you found yourself sitting at your window (in a growing pile of paper) giggling at the boy who was across from you. it got to the point where you went to drink from your body spray.
[those aren’t supposed to be consumed silly]
[anything can be if you try hard enough]
you would never forget the way he would laugh at your weird remarks. the way his eyes would light up before he leant back and chuckled, one hand on his chest.
at last, you were finally happy to wake up at 8:30 sharp every morning. until you slowly realise you weren’t the only person whose order was in hanbin’s list. and slowly, those after-class visits to the arcade, art gallery or even just the walks to and from class were becoming slim to none. by the time you got into bed, hanbin hadn’t left a message for you on his window.
the days when it went from bad to horrendous were still clear in your mind and to stop seeing those horrible days you decided to not show up at all. maybe it got to the point where you forgot you still had company other than hanbin that would stay by your side. after a series of knocking, you mustered up the strength to go to the door and find matthew standing there, eyebrows all furrowed, with kamden and jay standing right behind him. (i miss the english trio fr)
“why are you here?”
“we came to make sure you were okay.”
you were anything but okay and they could see it from the way you look defeated, not even able to lie your way out of it. you felt like it shouldn’t have even affected you that much, even going as far as to thinking that you should’ve seen it coming. why was it so easy to fall in love with him?
the point at which it got even worse was when you all decided to go to the friendly football game after your respective classes. it was the day you saw him with someone else.
“i heard she asked him out for prom,” you said, the words barely coming out as a whisper. the sight made you sick to your stomach but there wasn’t really anything you could do- she was perfect. popular, rich, the centre of the cheerleading squad and there wasn’t a moment where a hair was out of place.
“apparently he didn’t accept her, something about it not feeling right?.” kamden muttered, watching as the cheerleader walked away from hanbin towards the sidelines.
which makes you remember the day when you finally did talk to hanbin again.
it was a boring, gloomy day.
the rain aimlessly bounced off your window whilst you were listening to music. hoping that the minimal light would at least make you feel the slightest bit better, you opened the blinds and were shocked to see hanbin sitting on his bed. his eyes trailed up and you felt your heartstrings pull as you fail to see the soft glimmer which would shine through his pupils.
[you ok? :(]
your friends would kill you if they knew how fast you grabbed your notepad and marker pen.
[just tired of drama]
[sorry :(]
his lips pressed into a line as he shrugged, barely being able to muster up a smile. the words on your notepad echoed in your head again and again as you stared at them, your heart beating at an unhealthily fast pace.
by the time you mustered up the courage and held it up, his blinds were shut. you could only blame yourself now.
after all those times when you would sit at the back of the lecture hall talking about his favorite songs, the way you would sit and let him ramble on about his dreams, the fact that you knew exactly what to say to make him laugh when he was about to cry- you at least expected hanbin to acknowledge the fact that there was a bond between the both of you with overwhelming chemistry.
you were dreaming about the day when he would wake up and find that you were what he was looking for.
but now you were convinced it was all your fault. maybe if you had confessed earlier, you wouldn’t have lost him and just maybe, that he would belong with you.
it’s now the night of prom and after rejecting a promposal or two, you’re left in your room with your stuffed animals and netflix rolling in the background. you keep your blinds open, praying that hanbin would show up for at least a few moments.
and those prayers were answered.
[are you coming tonight?]
[no :/ staying in ]
[wish you were]
you smile and roll your eyes jokingly, standing up to get a hoodie to bunch up in during this long night. whilst scanning the wardrobe for something nice and warm, your eyes lay on the dress which you had planned on wearing to prom (in the event that hanbin did ask you out).
you turn your head and your vision focuses on the piece of paper which lays alone on the desk before your eyes land back on the dress.
and you had never gotten ready so fast before. you usually hated gut feelings, but there was something that was telling you to suck it up and just tell hanbin your true feelings. your brain was done with the frustrating questions which you constantly ponder on.
just why can’t he see that you are the one who understands him? the one who’s been here all along?
hands desperately grasp the piece of paper as you run down the stairs, a rush of adrenaline now surging through your body. you slam the door shut and run towards the road, managing to flag down a taxi and scurrying inside, wondering how the taxi driver even understood the clump of words that came out of your mouth.
as you step out you curse the adrenaline for stopping now, the moment you had to walk in with eyes all over you, the moment which could end up in total humiliation. you push past sweaty bodies, looking for the one who had stolen your heart.
“hey oh my god! i thought you weren’t coming!” you mutter a phrase of relief as you saw jay standing there, eyes wide with shock. “you look gorgeous!”
you smile at your friend before remembering the sole reason why you showed up in the first place. “hi jay! you look amazing but i’m in a massive rush right now i’ll explain everything after but please tell me you know where hanbin is.” once again, your words almost come out all fast and breathy, eyes scanning the whole room.
the corner of his lips rises as his eyes dart straight past your head, with your body following suit. “i think you’ll find your man standing right there.”
and at the moment, everything but you and the figure standing in front of you drowns out. when he finally notices you, he slowly makes his way over, his eyes locked on yours.
the intensity of his gaze was strong but delicate as if he was seeing you for the first time and taking in every detail. as he draws closer, you can smell the sweet cologne he's wearing, the scent filling your senses and making you feel dizzy with desire.
“you came?”
you want to express how you feel- to tell him how much he means to you, shit you feel like screaming it, but the words simply won't come. as hanbin’s eyes glaze over with concern you can feel the weight of your unspoken thoughts becoming heavier and heavier. so instead you reach into your purse and pull out the folded note which would put all your emotions into one phrase perfectly.
i love you
if you could fall into a pit of darkness now, you would.
on the other hand, hanbin can feel the warmth spreading through his chest, a wave of euphoria. he wants to tell you how he feels, to hold you in his arms and never let go, how he’s so stupid to take this long to realise you were the one for him, but he's afraid that he'll mess everything up. so he reaches into his blazer pocket, pulls out a piece of paper and opens it.
i love you
he knows that he's found the missing piece of his heart. he takes your hand, pulling you close to him, and he can feel the beat of your heart matching his own. in that moment, hanbin knows that he's found something special, something worth fighting for. and as he looks into your eyes, he realizes that he's in love with you, completely and irrevocably.
the familiar sight of hanbin’s eyes filling with nothing but love had never been so beautiful.
and before you know it- he leans in, his heart pounding in his chest, and presses his lips to yours. it's a soft, gentle kiss, filled with all the emotions hanbin had been holding back for so long. and as he pulls away, he knows that he's found something truly special - a love that will last a lifetime.
“i should be mad at you for how long it took you to see that-
“i belong with you? yeah i know- and i’m really sorry. but let me make it up to you.”
and for the first time (but most definitely not the last) you watch the sunrise from the same window, finally where the both of you belong.
—————————————————————————————
a/n : i am truly sorry for the lack of updates :( it’s exam szn for me so i’m constantly drowning in revision but i finally managed to finish this hanbin fic!! OBVIOUSLY its based off of you belong with me (taylor’s version ofc) and i tried my best to use the song as plot!!

notes — starting off my blog with a gyuvin fic since he is my bias & is always. on my mind 😵‍💫 enjoy! i hope that there aren't that many mistakes..
Tumblr media
the past week had been weird ; y/n had been weird. if somebody were to ask what had happened to the once smiley girl who liked hanging out with her bestfriend, kim gyuvin wouldn't know the answer.
all he knew was that one day, y/n was his best friend but all of a sudden, she was avoiding him every time they were in the same proximity. in classrooms, hallways, even more, she could barely look him in the eyes now.
he could be clueless to how people may act sometimes, but y/n made it abundantly clear what her motives were the day she began avoiding him. maybe it was because he paid attention to her solely more than other people? he didn't know the answer.
"don't you think you're exaggerating it a bit? i'm sure it's nothing," kum junhyeon assured, putting his banana milk down on the table, "she's probably just busy. sounds to me like you miss her presence."
"no— i swear! i can handle when she's busy but she's been outright avoiding me for the past week and i have no idea why," gyuvin passionately expressed, stretching out his entire body on the chair he was sitting on, "she hasn't even spoken to me once yet!"
just as the two were speaking, park gunwook walked into the convenience store that the three agreed to meet at ; he was late. while gunwook scrambled around to find the snacks he had been craving all day, gyuvin started speaking again.
"gunwook, can you tell this guy that i'm not exaggerating? y/n really has been ignoring me!" gyuvin shouted out to the boy who seemed like he was in his own world by the ramyeon.
"sure— sure whatever you say..." gunwook yelled back, not paying any attention to whatever the two boys were speaking about as he headed toward the cash register to pay.
"okay, he's clearly not paying any attention," junhyeon shook his head, "but seriously... maybe it's just all in your head, y/n wouldn't ignore you."
"maybe she found out that you have feelings for her," gunwook proposed, walking by nonchalantly with the intent of cooking his ramyeon with the microwave next to the table they were sitting at.
"wait... maybe your right!" gyuvin started to panic, looking at junhyeon with a look as if he had just seen a ghost, "but how could she know? i've been so cool about it."
"cool? yeah, i wouldn't use that word for how you've been acting," junhyeon let out a gargle of laughs, "remember that time you gave her a bruise on her forehead after you got flustered by how close she was to you?"
"hey— you said you would never bring that up again!" gyuvin groaned, remembering the look on y/n's face when she saw the damage he had done, "if she knows, then i'm done for!"
"maybe this will give you a chance to confess to her," gunwook suggested, finally sitting down with the two as he took a bite out of his ramyeon.
"yeah, how can i do that if she can't even look me in the face anymore..." gyuvin grumbled, covering his face with his hands, "yesterday, i was 3 feet away from her and she almost ran into a wall."
"maybe she was just looking at your face and realized how—" junhyeon commented before being cut off by gyuvin.
"if you finish that sentence, i will hurt you," gyuvin sent a death glare in his direction, "i need to do something right? gunwook, help me out here!"
"han river!" gunwook choked out, his cheeks filled with ramyeon as he spoke up.
"han river? dude, you just got here and you want to go to han river?" junhyeon raised an eyebrow, looking at the younger boy weirdly.
"no— y/n is at han river right now!" gunwook said in a clearer tone after swallowing his ramyeon, "look, she just posted something on her story."
gunwook turned his phone to face the two boys after pressing on y/n's story again, showing the two boys as they scanned the photo carefully. the room fell into silence, the only sound being heard was the cash register and the freezers in the back.
during that moment of silence, they all exchanged looks with one another realizing the opportunity at hand. the room may have been quiet, but gyuvin's expressions were filled with panic and confusion about what to do next ; he looked at the two as if he was waiting for them to give him the answers.
"well, what are you waiting for? go and talk with her before she leaves!" junhyeon shouted at gyuvin, ushering him out of his seat to the point where he almost fell on the floor.
"by monday, she'll be ignoring you again— you gotta catch her off guard!" gunwook added to the panic the boy was going through, basically yelling at him until he ran out of the store.
"wow, we are such good friends," junhyeon nodded his head pleased, picking up his banana milk to take a sip.
"seriously, what would those two do without us?" gunwook agreed, letting out a laugh as he took another bite of his ramyeon.
"that ramyeon looks good, can i—"
"go buy your own," gunwook cut him off, looking at him with a serious face while he ate ramyeon.
the han river wasn't far from the convenience store that gyuvin was at, yet he still made sure to stride with the biggest steps his long legs could do. this was his only chance to talk to y/n, to find out why she was ignoring him.
gyuvin needed to know what he had possibly done to make her avoid him to such an extend. was it really because she found out he had a crush on her?
"gosh, how can i keep this up?" y/n let out an exasperated sigh, leaning over the railing of the river as she stared out into the distance.
"at this rate, i should just move schools to avoid him!" she exaggerated, "but... my mom would never let me move though.."
"ugh, why me!?" y/n groaned, throwing a rock into the river and watching it bounce a few times before sinking into the river.
just as she was in her thoughts, zoning out from anything that was happening in the real world; gyuvin appeared, standing right behind her while panting as he finally found her.
"y/n," gyuvin called out, his hands on his knees as he was panting from all the running.
after hearing her name be called, y/n turned around to find the brown-haired boy standing there. she was shocked to say the least, but it's not like she wasn't the one who posted on her instagram hoping he would come.
slowly, gyuvin gained his breath once again and walked up to the girl slowly before pulling her into a tight hug. his hand fell onto her head, allowing her to rest her head on his shoulder.
y/n should've pushed him away, she knows she should've. but it had been a week and she missed her bestfriend. all his warm smiles, the way his eyes light up whenever she buys him snacks or his head falling onto her shoulder whenever they rode the bus together. she missed the boy she had fallen for so easily.
"why have you been ignoring me?" gyuvin asked after a moment of silence, his voice sounding like it was about to crack, "please, just talk to me."
"if i did something wrong, tell me— i'll... i'll fix it!" his voice pleaded and his grasp on y/n tightened, "i'll do anything, just don't ignore me anymore."
"is this because i like you? i can un-like you if you want!" gyuvin admitted, resting his head on y/n's head when she suddenly pushed him away for a moment after he spoke.
"wait— you like me?" y/n spoke in a whisper, not knowing how to respond to his words, "this whole time, you've liked me?"
"yes? wait... so you didn't know? why were you avoiding me then?" gyuvin questioned, sniffling his now red nose, "do you know how stressed i've been because of this?"
"okay... the truth is, i like you too," y/n confessed, letting out a sigh, "i didn't think you liked me so.. i tried to distance myself from you. it's stupid i know, i was just confused.. and scared."
"i didn't want to lose you as my friend, but i guess my idea wasn't the smartest way to go about it.." she admitted, giving a slight smile to gyuvin.
"you idiot.. how could i not like this face?" gyuvin muttered, cupping y/n's face while smiling, "there's not one day where i don't wake up and think of you, y/n. i really, really do like you."
"i like you too," y/n responded, pulling the boy in for another hug as she wrapped her arms around his waist, "and i really missed talking to you too. do you know how hard it is to not have anyone to talk to everyday?"
"atleast you didn't have to put up with junhyeon and gunwook," gyuvin poked fun at, hearing y/n's small giggles that were muffled.
"so what do we do now?" y/n asked, slowly releasing herself from gyuvin's grip although she didn't want to let go of his warm embrace.
"i don't know, how do people do this boyfriend-girlfriend thing?" gyuvin scratched the back of his neck, unsure of what to do next.
sure, their feelings were now 'figured out', but there was still one question. what was next? the two liked eachother, but what the heck were they supposed to know about relationships? they had no experience whatsoever. so what was next?
"well, let's start small then?" y/n initiated, putting her hand out in front of gyuvin, "would you.. like to go out with me sometime, kim gyuvin?"
"i thought you would never ask. i would love to do that, l/n y/n," gyuvin cheekily smiled, intertwining their hands as y/n slightly pulled him forward so that they could walk together.
maybe they didn't know what was next. but that was okay, because they could find out in their own — most likely weird — way. they were together now and that's all that mattered now.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
you'll never forget the day you moved to the place you considered home; it was a sunny july day. and little 7 year old you was eager to make friends in this new town, and thankfully you didn't have to look very far. that was also the day you met the personification of home, seok matthew.
too young to be much help unpacking, your parents had sent you to play with the boy next door, and you got along like you had been friends since birth. the swing set in the backyard becoming your hangout spot for the next few years. competitions of who could swing higher was a weekly occurrence, even if matthew won every time.
"who wants popsicles?" matthew's mother called out, both of your ears perking up as you looked at each other, a competitive spirit erupting in your tiny bodies.
"i'll race you there," you suggested, getting an eager nod from matthew as you both stood up to get off the swing. "go!" you shouted, laughter erupting from your little chests as the boy exclaimed that you had a head start.
the two of you happily ate your popsicles, sticky fingers and all, sure you hadn't known each other very long at this point; less than a day even. but somehow, in some way, you already knew that this boy was going to be in your life for a long, long time.
the years flew by faster than you would've hoped; the two of you now pushing 13. the once beloved swing set in matthew's backyard had gotten too small for you, your new hangout spot being a hideaway you discovered behind your houses. it wasn't much, but you enjoyed the sense of rebellion that came along with being hidden away, even if you could still see your house through the clearing in the branches.
you didn't know it then, but these would be the years where it all started. your feelings for the boy next door.
everything about being 13 was confusing to you. everyone splitting off into cliques, boys not hanging out with girls, developing bodies, developing feelings. it was all so much information that you just couldn't wrap your head around. but thankfully you weren't doing it alone. you had matthew, like always.
sure, you had friends other than matthew, and he had friends other than you, but nothing and nobody could stop you two from being attached at the hip in one way or another. that's how it always was, and how it'd always be.
"hey y/n, do you wanna come to my birthday party this weekend?" one of your classmates had cheerfully asked, a card in hand with what you assumed were details for the party. you thought for a moment, asking your next question without hesitation.
"i'll have to ask but, can i bring matthew?" your smile had widened so much that your cheeks hurt, all at the mention of your best friend.
the girl laughed, kind eyes turning to crescents. "well he goes where you go, so of course!" she handed you two invitations, one for you and one for matthew.
everyone knew when they saw one of you, the other would be soon following; you were a package deal. going everywhere hand in hand, and you had grown quite fond of the way his hand felt in yours. but you were kids, what did you know, right?
soon enough you were walking across the stage of your 8th grade graduation together, and despite knowing it wasn't the case, you could've sworn you two were the only people in the room that day.
that summer was a strange one, both your nerves for starting a new school, and a new chapter of your lives, had you asking yourself what if? more often than you had liked.
"matthew?" you asked, twiddling with your thumbs as you had both laid across the grass in your backyard. high school had been looming over your mind for the entirety of summer break, and you needed to make sure the high school horror stories didn't happen to you and your best friend.
he hummed in response, turning his head to see you sitting up in the patch of grass, "what's up?"
"just, can we make a promise," you paused before seeing him nod, taking it as confirmation to continue. "i hear so many stories of high school tearing apart friendships, and i don't want that to happen to us. so promise me we won't let that happen, and that we will stay how we are." you rambled on, finally taking a deep breath as your worries had left your lungs.
a smile had spread across his face, "have you met us? nothing could tear us apart, especially not some silly brick building."
"matthew," you sighed, "promise me, please?" it wasn't often that you got serious with your best friend, but he knew when you were serious that it was something that truly worried you, and so he simply extended his hand to you, pinky out.
"pinky promise."
looking back, you were sure you two would've been fine without the naïve promise, but it made all the difference to you at the time. everything was so new and you just needed something safe, and that something was matthew.
freshman year was strange, all of your friends you had grown up with had started pairing off. you weren't sure what it was about the high school air that made people all start coupling off, but you couldn't help but feel a little lonely.
except for the fact that you had matthew.
"hey y/n," the two of you had been in his kitchen after school one day, eating popsicles. it was sort of your thing, just like when you were kids, minus the sticky fingers for the most part. "i have a proposition for you."
you couldn't help but shake your head, "that can't be good," you chuckled, "but sure, what is it?" you tilted your head, awaiting his next words with curiosity.
"if we are still both single at 30, we should get married."
"matthew," you laughed at the serious tone in his voice, "why would we do that." it was his turn to shake his head, as if you were missing out on some very obvious reasons.
"tax benefits, and you know, not dying alone." you suppose he had a good point, and if you were already single and 30, what else did you have to lose. plus you didn't exactly mind the idea of spending your lives together.
he looked expectantly at you as you pondered your options, "let's do it, it'll be our marriage pact." your smile widened as you went to throw out the popsicle stick that you had been chewing on for a couple minutes now.
when you turned around, matthew was standing there, hand outstretched for you to shake, "deal."
sophomore year was more troubling than you thought it would've been. having been asked out for the first time was, weird to you; having never considered the possibility. you didn't even really want to go, but it was a step in the right direction.
you liked to call this the denial phase. the time period where you told yourself you were over your silly childhood crush on your best friend, when you tried to make yourself like some boy in your english class to ignore the way your heart sped up around matthew. it was just a silly childhood crush, at least you thought.
he was always supportive, but especially when the boy in your english class asked you out. he was your number one hype man, helping you pick an outfit; even if you didn't go with what he picked.
"you look beautiful y/n." matthew smiled at you, only a few minutes before you were supposed to leave for this date. you were going on a date and all you could think about was your best friend calling you beautiful.
"thank you," you smiled shyly, attempting one last time to fix your hair in the mirror.
matthew handed you your shoes, helping you get out the door. "i'll be here when you get back and you can tell me all about how it went," he beamed, his smile wide and eyes in the shape of crescents, "have fun! but not too much fun." he wiggled his eyebrows at you, implying things you didn't even want to think about, hitting him on the arm before waving goodbye.
you assumed maybe this night had been a sign to you that you ignored. sure, deep down you know you didn't really like this boy, but you were sure you could've grown to. at least that's what you tried to convince yourself as you waited at the arcade entrance for him.
and you waited, and waited, and waited.
he had stood you up. he asked you out and he stood you up. you'd think that because you didn't even really want to go that it wouldn't hurt when he didn't show up. but it hurt. it hurt like hell. and there was only one person who could've fixed that.
you fished your phone out of your back pocket, trying to fight back the tears that threatened to spill. don't cry, not in public. you repeated to yourself as your phone rang.
"i didn't expect to hear from you so early, is it going okay?" his sweet voice ringing through the speakers was the final straw, a loud sob erupting from your chest as you tried to find somewhere more secluded in the mall to have your meltdown. "hey hey hey, what's wrong? what did he do?" matthew questioned, worry lacing his voice as he was already getting up to come get you.
"he didn't do anything," a sniffle interrupted your thought, "that's the problem. he didn't show up."
you felt silly crying to your best friend over the phone, but here you were, his voice pulling you from your own thoughts. "i'm almost there okay? are you still near the arcade?" you only hummed in response and that was enough for him.
he kept you on the phone the whole time, comforting you in the best way he could until he could come hold you and let you cry.
you had decided to meet him at the front door, seeing him walk up made everything okay, almost. "aren't you glad you live close to the mall," he called out, getting a light laugh out of you before he grabbed your hand, holding it the whole walk home.
this was the night you realized you loved him. not just as friends, as more than that. the moment he held your hand it had all flooded to you. you remember the feeling like it was yesterday; though that was partially due to the way it still happened every time he got near you now. but that wasn't the point.
the night he held you till you had no more tears left to cry, held you in his arms in your bed and let you ramble about everything going on in your head, well, almost everything. you didn't dare mention the way you wanted to stay with him like this forever.
at some point you had fallen asleep in his arms, at least that's what he's told you. you only remember waking up tucked into bed with your jeans still sticking to your body and matthew fast asleep on the other side of the bed. and even now you can't help but have that memory swirl around in your brain. he stayed.
a few months later you had found yourself sitting on your bed with matthew, faint music playing as you both just basked in the comfortable silence.
you loved that you could always do that with him. there were times where you just wanted to enjoy his presence, and you could do that without it being awkward. just knowing he was there was enough for you.
some people would call this moment the calm before the storm, before everything in your brain changed into a messy tornado of emotions.
"you know," matthew started, sitting up to face you, mirroring his actions as soon as you noticed the motion. "we both haven't had our first kiss yet, and we are getting older." your brain tried incessantly to figure out where he was going with this, every answer causing your heart to speed up faster than you would've liked. it seemed matthew could sense your curiosity eating you alive as he quickly spit his thought out.
"they say your first kiss should be with someone special to you, and you're special to me, so maybe we should try it. you know, just to see what it's like."
you were sure he could hear your heart beating out of your chest at the suggestion. sure, he had a point; you'd never have to worry about wasting your first kiss on some stupid guy you'd never talk to again. and sure, it'd be nice having it with someone you're comfortable around in case you mess up. but what he wasn't accounting for was that for you, that person doubled as your crush, and you weren't sure what to do with that. but it seems your mouth works faster than your brain.
"let's do it." you blurted out, against your own better judgement. desperate to try and sav your sanity a little, you let one more thought spill. a condition. "it's just to say we've done it though, right? we can just forget about it after and we won't bring it up again, yeah?" you asked, knowing damn well you were lying through your teeth.
if this did happen, you were sure the experience would live in your brain forever, there was no "just forgetting about it." but regardless, matthew nodded as he inched closer to you on the bed, his face coming closer before you shut your eyes, letting your lips connect.
it was clumsy, you couldn't lie. but in retrospect, it really could've been worse, and you wouldn't have had it any other way. the feeling of his lips on yours, noses bumping and all, was one that had stuck with you all these years later. you couldn't forget about it, and you often wondered if he did.
a couple years later he had asked you out to prom; as friends of course, but you couldn't stop your heart from beating out of your chest at the thought. it may not have been as partners but just knowing he was there with you and nobody else that night really made your heart to flips and the butterflies in your stomach flutter.
the days and weeks approaching prom were nerve-wracking to say the least. obviously you wanted to look good because it was prom, but you were going with matthew, you had to look your best.
he had done everything right that night, everything you were sure a boyfriend would've, not that you had anything to compare him to.
"may i have this dance," he smiled, outstretching his hand as a slow tune played from the speakers. you almost couldn't hear him over the sound of your own heartbeat mixing with the chatter from the other students, but you took his hand without a second thought.
"this is nice," you muttered, just loud enough for only the two of you to hear. "tonight has been amazing, thank you matthew."
his ever so contagious smile had appeared again, "there's nobody i'd have rather experienced it with." his grip on your waist tightened, pulling you in a bit closer, allowing your head to rest on his shoulder for a moment. "i'd do anything with you by my side."
maybe it was because the end of your teenage years had been quickly approaching, but matthew had become more and more sentimental, and it had done terrible things to your heart, terrible things that you never wanted to stop.
to no surprise to anyone around you, the two of you had even gotten accepted into the same college, which made the idea of graduating soon not seem so daunting. which was good, because the day had approached faster than you were expecting.
"we did it!" you cheered, standing with you and matthew's families after the ceremony.
he grabbed your hands, shaking them around a bit as you two freaked out, "we graduated!"
the small celebration was quickly interrupted by matthew's father calling you both over for group photos before getting some with just your own. with excitement and adrenaline high, you couldn't help but smile until your cheeks hurt.
you don't remember much else from that day other then going out to dinner with both your parents and the seok's. but it was amazing. and you and matthew had stayed true to your promise. you didn't let some silly brick building, as he called it, tear you apart like you had watched it do to countless other friendships.
you were in this for life.
and that's how you ended up where you were now, winter break of your freshman year of college. sure, the courses and workload was an adjustment to get used to, and the overall atmosphere was different than you had expected, but you and matthew had always made time for each other even with his new found popularity in college.
he had truly blossomed in college; you tried not to think about it too much, the way he had grown into himself, finding his style and learning how to do his hair. it was great for him you were sure, but horrible for you. when did he start looking like that?
to make matters worse, a lot of people in your new friend circles had assumed you were dating until you told them otherwise. what were you supposed to do with that information. as much as you wish that was true, it just wasn't the case. but that was okay, because you still had him in your life, and he was still your best friend.
your best friend who you held hands with, and went on cute platonic dates with. your best friend who knew you better than you knew yourself. your best friend that you had an unwavering crush on.
that was all. no big deal.
as if saved by the bell, your phone had started ringing before you could get too into your own head, reaching into your back pocket you saw the name flashed across the screen; maechu.
"hi, are you still coming over?" you asked, your smile audible through the phone.
"of course i am, i was just calling to tell you to unlock your door because apparently you can't hear when i knock." he laughed, seeing you approach the door through the window.
you opened the door with a sheepish grin on your face, muttering an apology before letting him in. you had been so caught up in your own head that you didn't even notice the box in his hand until you had made it upstairs to your room. "matthew, you didn't have to."
he shook his head and smiled, handing the gift to you. "i wanted to, and it's nothing fancy don't worry." you placed the gift down on your bed for a moment, walking over to your closet to grab a nicely wrapped gift from the shelf, handing it to the boy in return.
"i thought we agreed we weren't doing gifts this year." a chuckle left his mouth as he glanced between the gift in his hands and the gift on your bed.
a smile spread across your face, realizing once again just how similar you two were; but you supposed being attached at the hip for the majority of your life would do that. "we did, but here we are."
you quickly urged him to open his gift, watching the way his face lit up at the matching bracelets, the date you had moved in, and subsequently met, was engraved on the inside of the band. he couldn't help but tear up, pulling you into a tight hug. "i love it, thank you" he mumbled into your hair before pulling away, grabbing one out of the box, "help me put it on."
and so you did, securing the clasp around his wrist before he reached into the box and grabbed the other one, taking a hold of your hand to return the favor. you tried not to but your heart sped up at the action, even if it was just him doing something nice, which is what he was known for doing.
"okay now," he started, making sure the bracelet was secure on your wrist, "your turn to open your gift."
you hesitantly grabbed the box off of your bed, not having any clue what it could be. tearing through the messily strewn together paper and tape, you were met with a box, looking to matthew in curiosity only for him to urge you to continue.
when you took the lid off, the sides of the box collapsed, revealing pictures of you from when you were kids up until graduation on layers of colorful paper and stickers. in the middle of it all was another, smaller box. lifting the lid off you revealed a cute charm of your favorite character attached to a keychain of a spotify code.
"it's a playlist i made for you," he couldn't contain the smile on his face at your excitement over the gift. "plus it's on a keychain so even when we are busy, you'll always have something to remind you of me with you."
you couldn't help the tears pooling at your eyes, or the words threatening to spill. "god, i love you." you breathed out, your stomach doing flips at the confession.
"i love you too y/n." he smiled, a little taken aback by the confession as it wasn't something you two said lightly.
you sighed, "no matthew, i love you. more than i should as your best friend." it took him a moment to realize what you were implying but once he connected the dots, it hit him like a truck, pulling you in for a hug as he picked you up off the floor.
you let out a giggle at the sudden action, not even thinking about what it could mean until he set you down and you noticed the way his cheeks had flushed a deep crimson red.
"i'll say it again, i love you too y/n."
your eyes practically popped out of your head at the confession, questioning if you heard him right, or if this was all some crazy realistic dream but when you felt his arms wrap around your waist again, you knew this had to be real.
"you have no idea how long i've been waiting for this," you breathed out, trying not to cry from relief. all these years of pining after your best friend had actually been worth it. "it's been eating me alive."
pulling apart, matthew dragged you down to sit with you on the bed, moving the box over onto the floor where you weren't going to accidentally step on it. "i could say the same," he smiled, moving his hand to your knee where he rubbed circles with his thumb.
"i'm sure i've got you beat," you laughed, a little embarrassed by just how long you'd been feeling like this, causing him to quirk his brow at you, curious if you really did. "you're not getting it out of me, at least not till you tell me." you toyed, hoping he would agree.
"remember the night that guy stood you up in high school? that night is when it hit me like a truck, looking back i think i liked you longer than that but i realized it then."
in all honesty, that was way longer than you had expected, and it made you a little giddy to think that the last few years, he had been feeling the same way you had, and that maybe you weren't overthinking every time he held your hand or played with your hair to help you fall asleep.
"now you tell me." he tried to be as convincing as possible only to have you shake your head, insisting it was too embarrassing to tell him. "c'mon~ i told you, it's only fair." you simply let out a sigh, taking a deep breath to psych yourself up.
"i think it started when we were about 13," you pondered for a moment, but it really hit me around the same time it hit you, sophomore year."
"you're telling me you could've been mine since sophomore year?" he questioned in disbelief, feeling like he had missed so many opportunities up until this point due to being too afraid of rejection.
the blush that made it's way to your face at his realization could only be described as burning hot. you had no idea what to do with all the emotions bubbling in your chest, except for one thing. "i could be yours now." you suggested, looking down at your hands, being to shy to look him in the eye.
"i wouldn't have it any other way," he lifted your chin to look at him, "now pardon me if i'm overstepping, but i think we need a redo on that first kiss."
you nodded feverishly, causing him to chuckle before bringing your lips to his. this kiss was unlike your first one with him, your first in general. it wasn't clumsy, instead filled with a feeling of longing and desire; the kiss deepening as you let your lips part, only pulling apart when you needed air.
the feeling in your chest seeing his hair tousled, cheeks red and lips a little swollen was one you were sure you'd never get tired of, especially not when you were the reason.
"so," he paused, bringing his fingers up to feel his lips and memorize the feeling of his lips on yours, "is that marriage pact off?"
you smacked his arm, both letting out a chuckle at the memory of when you were 13 years old in his kitchen. "only if it means i'll be with you."
and that was it, you were here sitting at home, with the person who makes you feel at home anywhere; your best friend, and now boyfriend, seok matthew.

the wedding
kum junhyeon x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“pleaseee, my family will kill me if i don’t show up with a date!”
“junhyeon no.”
“the hotel is 5 star and has a pool!”
junhyeon’s cousin was getting married soon and naturally, he was invited along with a plus one for his girlfriend. which didn’t exist. for some reason, at every family gathering junhyeon would go on about his perfect girlfriend: she has good grades, the best cooking, the most angelic smile and the most addictive personality. so as the absolute icon you are, he decided that you would fit that image the best.
so here you were- standing in a dress which you found dug deep into your closet, getting ready to meet junhyeon’s family. you hear a knock at the door, and you turn to see junhyeon standing there in a suit. you can't help but check him out - he looks good, really good. too good to be just a friend.
your breath catches in your throat as you take in the sight before you. his suit is perfectly tailored, hugging his broad shoulders and narrow waist. the crisp white shirt he's wearing underneath contrasts beautifully with the dark fabric of the suit. you try to play it cool, but you can feel your cheeks turning pink as you take in the sight of him. he notices your gaze and quirks an eyebrow, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips.
“like what you see?" he asks, a teasing tone in his voice.
you clear your throat, trying to compose yourself. “yeah, you clean up pretty nicely.” you reply, trying to keep your voice casual. he offers you his arm and you gladly take it before innocently looking up at him, “get that smug look of your face or else i’ll break up with you mid ceremony.” you threaten.
the wedding venue is a stunning outdoor space, with lush green gardens and towering trees providing a picturesque backdrop. as you step inside, you're greeted by a grand entrance hall, complete with a sparkling chandelier and intricate marble floors. soft music fills the air, and the sound of birds chirping in the trees adds to the peaceful, romantic atmosphere. whilst taking in the scenery you must’ve lost junhyeon but you found him… drinking from the fountain which was definitely not for drinking.
“oh.... that’s definitely not right.” you pinch his ear and drag him away, “junhyeon if you’re going to be my boyfriend don’t embarrass me!” you whisper-yell, looking around to see if anyone caught him. before the poor boy could answer his eyes lit up and you spin around, seeing his family with open arms. well, fake it till you make it!
“you must be his lover.” his mother smiles. her eyes scan you up and down which makes you want to dig a hole and lie in it, you felt extremely intimated for no reason. “hi, it’s finally so nice to meet you.” you bow- but to your surprise she also offers a hug, which you take willingly.
“i almost thought you didn’t exist! but junhyeon really shocked me, how did he ever get a someone as gorgeous as you?”
your failing attempts at denying made junhyeon smile and he notices his heartbeat getting slightly more faster (but he convinces himself it’s because he wants his family to buy his lie). after introducing yourself, you sit down as the procession starts. junhyeon leans closer to you and whispers, “you did great baby.”
that’s what did it for you. was it even this possible to be this flustered? over someone who weren’t even dating? you nudge him and suppress a smile, looking down at his hand and deciding lock fingers with his. despite the fact that after this he’ll return to being your best friend, there's an undeniable chemistry between the two of you that you can't quite put your finger on. there's an unspoken tension between you two, a palpable attraction that's simmering just beneath the surface. even though you're just sitting and watching the wedding, you can't help but feel a sense of ease and comfort in his presence.
junhyeon being junhyeon had thoughts racing through his head. it wouldn’t be him if he didn’t, and it was a challenge to not say anything to you, but luckily for him the ceremony was practically over. the bride and groom go in for a kiss and he leans in once again,
“if you want, we can leave the reception early and i’ll take you on a real date.”
you turn to look at him, completely frozen in shock but he just stands there with a stupid little smirk on his face, clapping at the newlyweds. as the rows disperse to congratulate them and head to the reception , he grabs your hands and guides you to introduce you to the rest of his family as if he didn’t just ask you out on a date. for the rest of the time, you’re standing there in a daze whilst junhyeon returns to his usual self and jokes around.
“it’s time for the bouquet toss!”
all the unmarried ladies gathered in the centre of the dance floor, including you after getting pushed in by junhyeon’s mother. you look around at the other girls and realise some of them seem to be taking the whole thing a little too seriously. but hey, it’s a wedding- why not have some fun and get involved.
as the bride turned around and tossed the bouquet high into the air and it was as if everything was in slo-mo. everyone jumps to catch it, and you reach up your hand, not expecting to catch it. but to your surprise, you feel the something with thorns land right in your hand.
“i caught it!” you yell, a bright smile spreading across your face. “junhyeon i caught it!” he stares at you in awe, noticing how angelic you look in your dress and that irresistible smile etched across your face. he found himself running up to you and pulls you in by the waist.
“please don’t kill me for this.” he utters, eyes locked onto your lips. your eyes flutter shut as you feel his face coming closer to yours, your lips meeting in the middle. the sudden contact was all glowing, sparkling warmth. it was as if he was passionate and urgent to communicate something to you that he’d been unable to communicate with words. although he’s aware he’ll leave wanting more, he felt like had to end that kiss there since he didn’t want to make anything awkward between the rest of the partygoers.
“so about that date…” you smile, looking up at your best friend who was definitely not going to just be your best friend after this.
BONUS TIME
“YOU STUPID FACE WHY DID YOU USE TONGUE? THERE WAS FAMILY THERE LORD I SWEAR IM INNOCENT.” you yell, looking back at him through the mirror of your shared bathroom back at the hotel room.
“HEY HEY HEY I DON’T REMEMBER YOU STOPPING ME.” he defended himself, spitting toothpaste everywhere which you weren’t proud to say you were used to by now.
“BECAUSE THERE WERE FUCKING PEOPLE EVERYWHERE? DO YOU KNOW HOW AWKWARD IT WOULD’VE BEEN IF I JUST PUSHED YOU OFF?” there was no way you were going to lose this fight, but it seems like junhyeon was ready to give up anyways. he sighs and sits on the bed, “so like.. do you wanna carry on orrr?”

han yujin x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
whilst school trips were fun, your school decided to ruin it by designating pairs which you HAD to stay with to ensure maximum safety. fun right? it might’ve been if you had at least spoken to your pair once before. which you didn’t….
you were paired up with the school’s notorious heartthrob, han yujin. he wasn’t a player neither did he cater to all the attention he got. he just wanted to have fun with his friends and attempt to survive education. “so, coach rides huh?” he asks, as you stand outside the school waiting for the coach to pull up. the poor boy was terrified of you but refuses to let it ruin the trip especially considering his love for everland.
you wouldn’t call yourself popular in any way, but you certainly had a friend group which was deemed exclusive by everyone else. the unspoken rule was to never approach your group unless you approach them first, which was utter bullshit which none of you guys have said. but being the shy boy he was- he followed that rule.
“you aren’t great at starting conversations huh?” you smile, eyes lifting from your phone, looking at the boy standing in front of you. curse that unspoken rule, he’s actually kinda cute? “to be honest, i hate coaches. they have that smell which make me feel like throwing up everything in my system, so excuse me if i don’t talk much once we get on.”
for whatever reason, his eyes cast to your hands, where he must’ve seen your cute little ring which had angel wings and a gem in the middle which he assumed was your birth stone. “nice ring.”
was he really this awkward at making conversation with people?
“thanks!” your smile widens and you get up, noticing the coach finally arriving. even if it was where the cool kids sat, you absolutely refuse to sit at the back- it was too noisy and made you feel like shit.
by the time he snaps back into reality, he notices you've already gone ahead to enter the coach and he awkwardly jogs ahead of everyone attempting to catch up with you. whilst making small talk, you realise he’s been waiting to go to everland for so long so being the nice person you are, you whip out your phone and made a list of all the rides he wants to go on, which he absolutely adored.
there was a simple rule which you guys had to follow: stay with your pair until the end or else you’ll have to stick with the teachers for the rest of the trip. you walk through the park, taking in the vibrant colours of the carnival games, the sweet smell of cotton candy, and the bright lights of the ferris wheel. the air is filled with the scent of freshly popped popcorn and the sizzle of hot dogs on the grill. you can feel the cool breeze on your skin, which makes the warm day comfortable and perfect for outdoor activities.
as you and yujin wait in line for the rollercoaster, your nerves start to get the better of you and on the other hand yujin, who claims he’s usually fearless, seems to be feeling the same way. “i don't know if i can do this," he says, his voice shaking.
“it’s fine! it looks fun.” was it really smart to try to reassure someone when your voice was dripping with anxiety? you both climb into your seats, hearts racing. the coaster slowly climbs up the first hill, and you could swear that the handlebars were going to break from the iron grip you had on them.
you feel the force of the break and the harness loosen and you grab anything that’s in your reach to climb out the seat, still laughing and gasping for breath.
“hey come on! there’s way more we need to get through!” you giggle, grabbing his hand and dragging him to other rides. you weren’t usually so open so quickly, but there was something about yujin which made you feel comfortable, even if half the time he was in his own little world. plus, everything seems more exciting when you have adrenaline surging through your body.
and he was truly in his own little world, he couldn’t shake the fact that he loves how the your hand feels in his and can't help but steal glances at you every once in a while. he finds you adorable, seeing how excited you were lost in your own paradise.
whilst looking up proudly at the ride that was next, you notice he’s relatively quiet. uh oh, you didn’t take it too far with the hand holding did you? i mean, he definitely would’ve let go by now right? you tug on his hand and wave one of yours in his face.
“sorry, what were you saying?"
“i said let's go on this ride!" you point, pulling yujin towards the entrance. after being dragged like a puppy on a leash several times (with no complaints of course) you both sit on a bench, convinced that you have whiplash from all the rides you just sped through. “hey i think i’m gonna sit the next one out.” you exhale, wanting to sink into the ground. “or, if you want we can go for something calmer.” you suggest, looking around for possible attractions that wouldn’t make you feel like your bones were in a blender.
“anything you want angel.” pause.
oh shit, does adrenaline give you rizz as well?
“wait, oh my god that was not meant to come out no- wait i’m so sorry-.” whilst attempting to keep your own feelings and reactions in check, you look up at him and smile, cheeks tinted pink.
“it’s completely fine love, i like that nickname.” you grin, hoping that the blush that was rapidly spreading across your cheeks wasn’t too obvious. he reaches both his hands out and you take them willingly, letting him lead you to the next ride. you had no clue as to why you were suddenly so flustered by him, this was the first time you actually had spoken to him properly.
after walking for a while, he decides to go on a water ride. it seems calm and a lot of families are lining up for it, so it couldn’t be that extreme.
as you glide along the water ride with yujin, you feel the cool mist spraying onto your face and the gentle breeze blowing through your hair.  you can hear the sounds of the water rushing by and the screams of joy from other riders in the distance. the colours of the park seem to blur together as you watch everything move by in a peaceful, dreamlike manner.
until you look down for a second and notice that your ring was missing. “where the fuck is my ring?” you almost stood up on the ride from the shock, you pat down your pockets and even check inside your shirt. there was no way it fell off, it was tight enough and you most definitely did not take it off on purpose. you look at the boy next to you and realise he’s a bit too stiff and nervous to be innocent.
“yujin, be completely honest with me right now. ”
“wait, i’m trying to find your ring, i’m sorry to say it’s not in the water.” you raise an eyebrow and cross your arms, eyes straight on his hand which was almost red from how hard he was squeezing it.
“did you take my ring?”
and he has the audacity to act surprised, almost insulted at your ‘accusation.’ “angel! how dare you say that about me, i have been nothing but nice to you today.”
unfortunately, you guys were too busy arguing to realise that the boat had been on a steep incline for a good few seconds. and before you knew it, you were clinging onto yujin’s side, screaming like there was no tomorrow and to make it even worse, a wall of water shoots up into the air and the rules of gravity states that whatever comes up… must come down.
the wave of water crashes down on you and yujin, drenching you both from head to toe. the force of the splash almost knocks you off your seat, and you could swear it felt like you were drowning for a moment.
“yujin, you better get to the point of this before i push you into this water.”
“okay okay okay, i’ll give you your ring back if you let me take you on a date. it’s okay if you don’t want to i’ll still gi-”
“a date and a new outfit once we get off this ride.”

just this once, okay?
kim gyuvin x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you find yourself sitting by the river, watching the sun dip below the horizon. the sky is a masterpiece of warm colors - oranges, pinks, and purples blend together in a stunning display of beauty. the water in the river glimmers in the light, reflecting the vibrant colors of the sky above.
as you sit and take in the beauty around you, you can hear the gentle sound of the river flowing by. the water moves slowly, peacefully, almost as if it's putting on a show just for you. you can see the outline of trees in the distance, their branches silhouetted against the bright orange and pink sky.
you close your eyes for a moment, just taking in the peaceful atmosphere around you. as you open your eyes, you see gyuvin, walking towards you, a soft smile etched on his face. he sits down next to you and takes in the same beautiful view. you can feel your heart race as he rests his head on your shoulder, and you lean into him, enjoying the warmth of their presence. “i swear friends aren’t usually this close?” you ask, your hand going to play with the ring on his finger which you gave him for valentines day.
“just this once okay?”
you scoff at his words and felt your heart go even faster as he captured your fingers and laced them with his own. “it’s more than okay.”
“the big day is coming up fast! you guys better fix up soon or you’ll make a big embarrassment out of yourself!” the coaches words drag you out your memories and her eyes land right on yours, her pupils burning into your own. after a short bow, you run to the stands and quickly start to pack your stuff up.
“where are you going?” your friend, hanni asks, handing you a water bottle whilst you stuffed your clothes in your bag. “i need to give my dumb excuse of a brother his lunch, please come with me i refuse to be around those boys alone.” you plead, watching as she hesitates before nodding slowly.  (a/n: i had to include my enha babies somehow)
“you mean you don’t want to be around gyuvin.” she frowns, knowing the history between the two of you. “you know i can tell heeseung to fix up so you don’t have to see him anymore.” she grabs a hold of your hands and you look up to her sadly.
“i don’t have a choice either way, im a cheerleader and he’s in the football team. what else am i gonna cheer for? the grass?” you squeeze her hand and pick up your bag, walking ahead whilst trying to get the thought of gyuvin out your head.
you arrive outside the boys changing room and quickly send him a message that probably wasn’t even legible but you could care less. you want to be out of the premises immediately.
“hiiii.”
you spin around and your eyes fall upon the youngest of the team, yujin. the only one who you could actually tolerate and weirdly reminded you of your brother.
“my little football player! how are you yujin, i hope you aren’t overworking yourself.” you grab his cheeks with your hand and smile at him fondly. you were used to yujin’s presence- after all he was gyuvin’s best friend. what you didn’t know however, is that yujin missed you so much. likewise to yourself, yujin found you oddly similar to his older sister and looked up to you in many ways.
“i’ve been good! heeseung is taking good care of me and i’m excited to play later on this week.”
before you could even open your mouth to respond, a hand slapped yours off of yujin’s face. “he’s not your little football player, plus don’t you have some flips to be learning?”  hanni rolls her eyes and held her middle finger up to the boy who towered over her.
“is everything okay?” you look to the side and muster up a fake smile to heeseung, throwing the bag which contained his lunch. “yeah just great, don’t forget it again please.” you rush off and drag hanni with you, failing to recognise the small wave which yujin directed towards you.
“have you actually spoken to him? like why he suddenly started acting like a dick?” hanni looks back ensuring he wasn’t anywhere near.
you frown as you tried to search for an answer. “honestly? i have no clue. he literally treated me so well i was basically in love with him and then just left. was i a bet or something?”
“don’t think of it like that. there has to be a good reason, he wouldn’t do something stupid when heeseung is literally his captain.”
and you were doing the opposite. you couldn’t even concentrate on practice and now it was game day but instead of shitting yourself, you thought about the fact that gyuvin would be basking in the limelight whilst you had to deal with the weirdos who got excited over a little bit of skin. you stand by the mirror, attempting to hype yourself up but all you could think about was that stupid boy who toyed with your feelings.
“nervous?”
you look at the figure who was emerging and plaster a solemn smile across. “i wish i was nervous, instead i’m going crazy about my feelings.”
“could you sort out gyuvin for me?.” you snap around.
“heeseung i swear to god if you’re here to wind me-
he scofs and ruffles a hand through your hair. “relax, he’s just really off right now and i thought you might’ve had something to do with it.” you slap his arm away as you hear the announcement for the cheerleaders to make their way to the pitch and snatch your pom poms, walking towards the exit.
“well i don’t know what you want me to do about it.”
as soon as you exit onto the pitch, you flash your best smile and wave at the screaming crowd, slowly jogging to your position. your team huddles around and the coach starts rambling on about keeping safety but you couldn’t help but search for the brunette amongst the practice runs.
“stop thinking about him for these next 3 minutes or you’ll get hurt.” hanni says, looking at you cautiously. and for those 3 minutes you surprisingly did pretty well. maybe it was the crowd going crazy after each tumble or the few seconds where you felt like you could fly- but you delivered exactly what everyone wanted.
as you run off the pitch, you feel a sense of pure joy and accomplishment, knowing that you gave your all out there. instead of walking back out to watch the game, you decide to keep your little happy streak for a bit and walk to the food and drink stalls, getting a slushy to cool yourself down from the intense workout you just completed. “hey!” do people just love to randomly appear behind you?
“jay? aren’t you meant to be on the pitch? is everything okay?” the anxious look on his face made you feel nervous immediately. the boy hesitates before looking at you sincerely.
“it’s-.” he pauses and you squint at him, “it’s gyuvin. we don’t know what happened but he’s literally dragging us down! and we think you’re the only person who could get through to him!”
it was as if someone had pressed mute on the world. really? after the way he treated you, you’re the only person that could get through to him. maybe tell him to look at all his fangirls and he’ll get that energy boost.
“LETS GOO!”
you jump as the stadium erupts in cheers and jay’s face only drops. “you hear those cheers? those are not for us. come on, you can scream at me all you want-“ you cover your ears as the screams cut his words off.  he knew you were on the plan as the look in your eyes turned from confusion to anger.
you were extremely petty. yes, you were mad at gyuvin for treating you like shit. but you were more mad that he wanted to let the whole school down because of it. (you also didn’t want your brother to get mad at him, because he was terrifying)
for the second time, you enter the pitch again but this time you were filled with anger. “kim gyuvin!” you scream, piercing the boy with your eyes. “kim gyuvin! wake the fuck up!” the whole of the football squad immediately look at you but you didn’t care. “stop being selfish and play the fucking game. we both know- in fact everyone knows you’re a good player.”
the anger that was boiling in your head only worsened when that stupid smirk appeared on his face and you just knew that he was going to make one of his stupid remarks, but not this time. “no, keep your mouth shut just this once okay?”
gyuvin’s world stops as you utter those words. the same words the both of you would always make as an excuse to brush away the feelings which were most definitely there. his eyes soften and for the first time in what felt like forever, you see the gyuvin which your heart ached for.
“just this once, stop being a selfish prick and don't you dare look at me that way. not now, after every you’ve done!” you yell, tears daring to spill at any moment.
your words hit him like a knife. he looks around at his teammates who were also begging him to fix up. the whistle blows and you jog towards the bench where your teammates were sitting. you ignore their questions and plop down, deciding to completely focus on the game.
you're at the edge of your seat, watching intently as your team struggles to catch up. the score is tied at 3-3, and there's only a few minutes left in the game. the tension is palpable as the ball bounces back and forth between the two teams.
suddenly, your heart leaps as heeseung breaks away from the pack with the ball. you hold your breath as heeseung races towards the opposing team's goal, dribbling the ball with ease. you can hear the crowd shouting and cheering, and your heart races as heeseung approaches the goal. was this it?
in a flash, heeseung shoots the ball towards the goal, but you feel your heart drop as the goalkeeper manages to swat it away. just when it seems like all hope is lost, gyuvin jumps in and scores the winning goal with the rebound. the crowd erupts into cheers and the players swarm around gyuvin to celebrate.
you can hardly believe it- you scream with everyone as hanni snatches you and you start jumping aimlessly.
“go get your golden boy.” she giggles, grabbing your head and helping you fix your vision towards the pitch. you see gyuvin’s desperate looks for you and you take a few steps forward. as your eyes meet, you scan his for that same look which you saw before.
and that’s exactly what you were met with.
he sprints towards you with arms open wide, it’s all he’s been wanting to do. you meet him halfway and give him a huge hug, jumping up and down in excitement. he wraps his arms tightly around you and in that moment, everything else fades away and it's just the two of you. “i have a lot of explaining to do don’t i?”
you lean your head back to look into his eyes once more and feel that same feeling in your stomach that you felt at the river.
“yes. yes you do. but i think you deserve to celebrate. but just this once, okay?”
“i think that’s more than okay.”

seat besties
sung hanbin x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you would never say you hated university. your course was great, you had a friend group that was also the best support group, and the best of all; your attendance didn't really matter- just as long as you did the work it was fine.
the look of disgust which woonggi sent you in the lecture hall was lethal. “i can’t believe you’re going to ‘seat bestie’ your way into his bed.”
“hey, i did not say that! i’m going to seat bestie my way into getting food with him, then get to know him more, you know like in a romantic way! correct me if i’m wrong but that’s called courting” you shot back, flashing a cheeky smile.
“i’d be surprised if you got anywhere past being able to sit next to him.” your friend, minji chuckled. you rolled your eyes and sunk into your chair.
“you guys are just jealous i don’t want you as my seat bestie.”
and before you knew it, you stood at the back of the classroom, tapping your foot and waiting for the tutor to put the seating arrangement on the screen. in the event in which you did sit next to him, it would be a win-win situation. your attendance will finally look presentable and you got to make it better whilst seeing your crush at the same time.
“are you unhappy with your seat?”
you were yanked out of your small trance and spun around, looking up at the voice. you quickly glanced and felt your heart fall to your stomach as you saw that name next to yours.
“oh! hanbin, hi!” great way to start. “i’m not unhappy, i was just deep in thought, let’s have a good term together.” you smiled, choosing to avoid eye contact with the attractive man in front of you and deciding to beeline straight for the table.
you sat down with him and before you know it, you were already bored out of your mind. it never made sense how professors would act as if the start of a new term meant that you didn’t do several others before. the clock was going extra slow and the slides just seemed to keep going and going. you had to do something before you went crazy.
you rummaged through your pencil case for a bit before finding a marker and flipped the useless schedule to the blank side.
‘since we’re seat besties now, do u wanna give me ur number so we can compare answers in the future? :p’
after hesitating a little bit, you brought your foot to his and gently tapped it, slowly edging the note towards him whilst keeping your eye contact straight ahead. this was way out of character; usually you would wait until someone asked for your number or just let the feelings dissolve but your boredom got the better of you. to your delight, the note was slipped back with more writing than you gave it with.
‘if you actually mean comparing answers sure! but if you just want to steal my answers that’s completely fine too. it’s 0XX-XXX-XXXX :) what other benefits do i get from being your seat bestie?’
deciding to ignore your most undoubtedly increasing heart rate, your pencil was quick to retouch the paper again.
‘you get endless hours of me complaining and maybe some snacks if i’m feeling nice. what do i get out of it??”
‘haha so excited about that. as for you, you get me. not to push my own buttons but if i were you i’d be quite satisfied with that.’
if there was any life on mars, they could for sure see you melt into your seat from the many light years they were away. you raised your eyebrows and looked at him, god knows how you didn’t pass out from the look he gave you back. unfortunately, the note passing made the class go by way too fast and you found yourself already packing away all your stuff.
“don’t make me regret listening to your request hanbin. i’ll let the note passing go this time but next time i will have you guys reading it outloud.” the professor shook his head as the both of you walked out of the room.
wait- what did he just say? what request? did he personally ask to be sat next to you?
“hey, what did he mean back there? what request did you make?” you asked, folding your arms. he quietly chuckled and put his hands up.
“i was hoping he’d not mention that but what’s the point in hiding it now? before this class, i decided to ask if we could be sat together. i heard some things about you being interested in me, and i’m not going to lie and say i’m not interested back.”
your legs locked like chains on a bike and you felt your heart drop into your stomach. “wait, how the fuck do you know?” hanbin kept walking as you took small steps forward.
“you know we are in the same lecture right?” he smiled, looking back at you whilst opening the exit to the building. you slowly nodded and edged closer to him. “to put it straight, you and your friends aren’t the quietest people.”
well shit.
“come on let’s go get some food, that’s what seat besties do no?”
