【Translation】 Narita’s Paradox and the Official Publicity of SessKagu
Information from three Weibo posts (see in article).
It seems rather paradoxical that Ken Narita first indicated that he felt Sesshomaru was and might only be compassionate toward Kagura, then disclosed that he struggled to properly interpret Sesshomaru’s love for Kagura while acting, in the very same conversation. (https://m.weibo.cn/status/4840906711107187). It sounds like Sesshomaru loved and did not love Kagura at the same time.
The reason is when Narita mentioned Sesshomaru’s compassion, he was talking about his own opinion toward Sesshomaru the character, whereas when he played his role, he was acting as Sesshomaru himself. Narita as a Sess fan likes the idea of Sesshomaru being alone, with slight tend to see him and Kagura together. When it comes to the anime he voice-acts Sesshomaru in, in the mentioned scene, the character Sesshomaru holds love for Kagura, and that is nothing Narita can or will change. To put it simple, it is Narita’s personal opinion that Sesshomaru at least sympathies with Kagura, but it was the canon plot that there was love from him to her.
Yes, it was in the official publicity that Sesshomaru and Kagura were a couple in romantic sense, just as the other canon CPs – Miroku and Sango, our hero and heroine (https://m.weibo.cn/status/4840929313167896). Before and during the running of Inuyasha Final Acts, SessKagu always appeared CP in the advertisement. That was why in the famous Yamaguchi-Narita interview they admitted that Sesshomaru loves Kagura. We can still find those official placards showing Sesshomaru and Kagura were in love with each other. Sesshomaru
The half-brother of Inuyasha, Travelling with Jaken and the human child Rin (the word “child” is “girl” in Japanese, but that Japanese word only refers to little girls, so I chose child to express it better.) for his own purposes. Seems to care about Kagura in Naruku’s side very much!
Sesshomaru journeys further in quest of his self. In the beginning of Final Acts, his relationship with Kagura is specially featured.
Besides, Inuyasha’s charm lies in the portrayal of each character’s feeling. Miruku and Sango, Sesshomaru and Kagura, and Inuyasha & Kagome/Kikyou, how each pair will feel and go. Stay tuned!)

I normally don’t make posts like this since I keep my blog strictly for art reshares and posts, but this in a way relates to art.
I feel like something precious was stolen from me today. My third year of Animation school in 2001, a friend gave me a VHS tape of the first 17 episodes of Inuyasha with fan-subtitles. I was in a deep depression at the time due to lots of personal issues and stress with school, and ‘Inuyasha’ lit up my life. I watched that tape over and over again. When new episodes premiered on Japanese television, I eagerly awaited for the fansubs to be uploaded to translation sites. When the series caught up to the manga, I went into Japan town and bought the newest issue of the manga as it was being published and would spend a week with a Japanese > English dictionary trying to read it. It was my world.
Today, Sunrise has made the terrible choice of having Sesshoumaru impregnate the girl he fed and clothed between the ages of 8 and 11. Even worse, at age 14.
Words cannot describe the devestation I feel. I am a child abuse victim and of course, that plays a large part in why it was so triggering. But also, I feel like the original franchise will be forever marred by this. It has been stolen from me. The thing that once made me happy- that pulled me away from self-destructive habits like self-harm. And as an artist, being able to draw cute images of child Rin with Sesshoumaru has been stolen from me as well. For even if I denounce this sequel and claim it not canon, I can never draw a cute image of Rin and her ward again without the terrible implications- without it simply being ‘Sesshoumaru and his future child-bride’.
I feel cheated.

And Rin literally ran after Kohaku from when she was a little kid. She was willing to lie to Sesshomaru, or to be honest to him, in order to protect Kohaku. She was able to tell him her deepest thoughts and fear at first sight, though he was actually her kidnapper to good sense. She questioned Sesshomaru’s teaming up with Naruku without hesitation, condemning Naruku for wanting to murder Kohaku. Many crazy people desire to have the body of any female to sedure Sesshomaru, but the sweet little girl always has her young boy in her mind and heart.
…Kohaku supports SessRin?
DISGUSTING
I will forever be a Kohaku/Rin shipper because I don’t ship father-figures with their daughter-figures. And in this case, Sesshoumaru was/is absolutely Rin’s father-figure.

To me, it’s simply disgusting how some people say someone who is okay to only one other creature is kind, nice or even generous or noble. Most of those who claim it’s good just dream of themselves to be the only “different” one to a powerful existance and they try to justify it by saying that he is actually quite nice for being to some other.
Sesshoumaru Shipping Rant
I feel like the Sess/Rib stuff and general OOCness of Sesshoumaru is a product of fandom attitude I've never understood.
I've only recently realized a lot of people who liked sesshoumaru liked the idea of him being "soft and protective" for just one person.
For me Sesshoumaru's appeal has always been that's he's cold, has his own stuff going on and can handle that on his own.
Maybe that's why I've always shipped him with Naraku, Kagura, Byakuya or even Touran. Relationships where either one of them could fuck off to the mainland for 3 months and the feelings would be exactly the same when they met again.
Basically "wait, people want the cold guy to stop being cold. I was here for the 2 and a half emotions and 1 good conversation a month"

I don’t know Japanese but thankfully there are enough Chinese characters (and help from those who know) for me to read it.
This sentance means “how dare anyone insult the noble and pure soul” or “won’t let anyone taint that noble and pure soul”. Sesshmaru literally uses adjectives meaning holy, noble, morally untainted, of uncorrupted virtue, lofty and proud to describe Kagure’s soul.
Do you think that’s some Mary Sue fiction, Sesshomaru?
In Chinese, there is a famous quotation “冲冠一怒为红颜” that describes THIS Sesshomaru perfectly.
Anyone who knows Japanese, could you translate this page, please? 🙏
This chapter is the first part of when Sesshomaru looses his control for Kagura.
The title 怒火 is translated as “raging fire” by Google Translator but I can’t translate the rest. 🥺

I am gonna be that person.
I really think Sesshoumaru's family story would have been more interesting if he had sons instead of daughters. Sesshoumaru himself has always dealt with daddy issues, between wanting to be as powerful as his pop and hating his decisions, Sessh had a lot to think about back then.
Now he'd have to walk in his father's boots essentually. With two boys that both look up to and want to emulate him as boys tend to do with their fathers. Sesshoumaru would be fundimentally facing all his flaws while seeing the same challenges he'd had with his own brother playing out from the other side.
It would have been an anime redition of The Cat's in the Cradle By Harry Chapin.
Of course this would require some decent writing and character development. Something Sumisawa is incapable of.
Such a missed oppertunity.

Okay, I am furious, this is the the most angry I have ever been at an anime show ever. I never thought I would hate an anime show as much as I despise yashahime.
As you all know for this who have been reading my blog. I have openly stated that I love Rin. I love her, I think Rin was adorable, funny, and so full of life and potential. True she needed rescuing constantly, but she was brave, caring and truly thought about others and genuinely wished to help people. Even those considered enimes at the time. Such as Kohaku and Kagura. Everytime I saw Rin, I smiled and was excited to see what the head strong, kind hearted little bean would do. She gave me little sister vibes. When Inuyasha ended I found myself wishing there was a next generation so that I could see what became of Rin.
Now after this last episode of yashahime I looked on the tag to see the latest news about this newest episode and let me tell you. The amount of Rage screaming I had going on inside my head while I watched/read the scene with Rin and her daughters was defending. My last post Justice For Rin was the only thing I was able to say at the time because the rest of my thoughts was nothing but incoherent screaming and ranting that I couldn't put together.
Now that I am calmer I have to say.
To those who claim to love Rin, who claim to be huge Rin Stan's. Yet love Yashahime should all be ashamed of yourselves. You should all be furious, you all should be raging, pissed about how this dumpster fire of a story has Ruined her. You all should be cursing the names of sunrise and the bastards who wrote this story.
Now I am not talking about SessRin. I hate that ship but I was willing to give it a chance. Maybe it could have been something. I don't care about your preference on that ship so please don't come on this post to defend it because this is not about that.
This post is strictly about Rin. As a character, as a mother, as an everything. Not about her and Sesshomaru. Not about her and her daughters. Just, her.
How can any of you who loved that little girl from the orginal anime or read about her in the manga watch this garbage and what it did to her and think this is okay!? Was this truly what you wanted for her? Was this really the future you wished for her!? Was this honestly what you saw in your mind for her!? If your a shipper, is this how you had hopped she would be treated by the man she loved? If your not a shipper but a Rin Stan. Is this how you pictured she would be treated by all those who were meant to be her friends and family? Seriously?! How can you all who claim to love this little girl as a chara just sit there and praise this Bull Shit of a story!?
Look at what they have done to Rin!!!
Look at her!! How can anyone watch this show and smile and say. "Yep this is exactly how I wanted this to happen." How can you make excuses for the people who have tarnished, and tainted that innocent little girl!? "Oh it's historically accurate." Bullshit! You all know it's not stop claiming it is! "Oh it's the culture all women that time act like that and are subservient" Fuck you! Why are you making that excuse?! Sango doesn't act like that and she's from that time! Geninji's mother didn't act like that and she's from that time! Sesshomaru's mother doesn't act like that and she's from that time! Even Iziyoi who was the softest of all the women I just mentioned didn't act like that. True we only saw her briefly, but you were able to see that she was a kind hearted princess that when she commanded someone they listened. The only one who didn't was that ass hat who killed Toga.
What about the girls now? Setsuna, Towa and Moroha. Are you all seriously telling me that when these girls get together with thier appointed love interests that you want to see the same thing happen to them that has happen to Rin!? If that is how thier culture is meant to be then you have all Damned those three young women to that same fate! Do you all seriously see those three girls acting the same way Rin is acting right now!? Now I know some of you are going to be like. " Well of course Towa won't act like that she was raised in the modern age. She has modern ideals and morals." So what about Setsuna!? She was raise in the feudal age. What about Moroha she is a young woman of the feudal age. Do you honestly think they would act like that? No! You all would be furious!
So why are you okay with Rin!?
Why is Rin okay to be shat on? Why are you allowing this to happen to her when all the other women on this anime are not!? Why are you all excusing this!? Why is this okay!?
Think about it everyone please! Even if at the end of the series everyone gets a so called "Happy ending" and Rin is reunited with her daughters and her husband and is smiling and hugs them close and it's all butterflies and rainbows. Rin still won't have a true happy ending. She will still be the worthless, subservient, meaningless husk of a woman. Who's only purpose in life is to be a baby factory! Please I beg all those who say you love Rin open your eyes and see what has happened to her! Be furious, be angry, show everyone how much you love her by opening your mouth and screaming
"This is not Okay!!"
Rin deserves better! Justice For Rin! Rin's new life! Fuck you sunrise!

Let’s refer to the manga. If it’s 14 years ago that Kogome last saw her mum, then she has been here roughly 14 years. Moroha is 14, which means she got pregnant and delivered almost within the year she got back to Inuyasha.
And the twins were born around the same time.
That means, in the anime timeline, Rin was already pregnant in the first episode of Yashahime, the last chapter of manga Since Then , which happened half a year after Kogome came back, and 3.5 years after the defeat of Naraku.
Disgusting.
shitrise/shippers: “but she was 18 years old!”

Seriously, it’s not hard at all to tell the difference between a pre-adolescence girl and an adult woman, Asian or not. You just need any of the three: Common sense, general knowledge, or some basic conscience.
Clearly the writers of Yashahime have none.
As a petite Asian woman with b**bs and hips, I am offended every time someone says Rin is petite. No you fool, Kagome is petite at 5’2. Rin is under 5’0, which is standard size for a child.

【Truth】Yashahime: Official Canon Sequel✕, Original Conducted Story✓
This article is based on 海豹’s old post from a year ago. Recently I saw her reblog it and thought it worth attention.
Link: https://weibo.com/ttarticle/p/show?id=2309404595959719133294
In May 2020,  Weekly Shōnen Sunday advertised Hanyo no Yashahime as “the canon sequel to the imperishable Classic, Inuyasha”.
Tumblr media
However, on 7th October, right after the first episode of Yashahime, any word like “official” “canon” had disappeared, instead Yashahime was descirbed as “a spin-off from Inuyasha”.
Tumblr media
And it has remained a spin-off on the official websites since then.
Why was this change? Did Sunrise suddenly find their long-lost conscience?
Of course not. It was simply because the very first episode of Yashahime was based on Rumiko’s canon manga, and the rest were not.
And ARE NOT.
The first episode of Yashahime was animised from the short manga sequel Rumiko Takahashi did after the Japan earthquake. In this sense, it is part of Inuyasha and the content is more or less canon.
(What is “less canon”, for example, unlike in RT’s work, Rin’s clothes were not coloured strictly according to Kagura’s.)
And all the other episodes of Yashahime, despite keeping using characters drawn by RT, were completely spin-offs of her work. Therefore,  Weekly Shōnen Sunday could no longer use adjectives such as “canon” to present it.
