Wait, I'm stupid. Is Roland and Olivier from Vanitas no Carte supposed to be referencing Roland and Oliver?? The classic French friend duo who died tragically trying to win a battle that was rigged against them? Who were loyal to the other to the point of death despite Oliver being the literal braincell in the friendship and warning against Roland's pride? Who were almost brothers but couldn't be ala them dying before Roland could marry into the fam via Oliver's sister?

Because if it is...what could it MEAN?

The thing that scares me is that for a manga with the premise that one main character will kill another at the end, no one has died yet. Flashbacks don't count — they weren't long enough to keep the fire of hope that that one will live. Of course, they don't come out of every fight unscathed, and some build-up scenes slowly pop out now and then like bubbles in the pot that starts to boil, like Rolland and Oliver talking in the library, the growing cursed mark of Vanitas, his promise to Jeanne, Noe's promise to Ruthen(this one has, in my opinion, the potential to be the catalyst to the hell broken loose). But most of the immediate dangers are getting undone, so that leaves me to think: who will be the first one to die? Will it be Dante in the ongoing arc? Or Johan, or Riche? Someone in the background, but who was with Vanitas from the start, the three who will not be the same if any of them dies, and they are a primary source of information in most of the arcs. Will it be Oliver whose prototype dies in "The Song of Roland"? Will our Oliver die by the side of our Roland, turning him against the chasseurs or back to the heart of them? Or the ones to die to make Roland lose balance will be his team? Will Jeanne die? I mean, I think that she will either die by hand of Vanits or will live to see him die. Her dying first seems unlikely, but who knows? Or Luka, whose death will trigger major shifts in politics of vampires, possibly causing civil war?

The ones who will definitely not die first are Noe and Vanitas because they are the main characters, but also Noe is going to kill Vanitas — it's the plot. Also, Roland — he has too much to lose to die without losing someone first.

Anyway, that's only my speculations.

I feel there should be more post Bingge vs. Bingmei fanfics from Bingmei’s point of view.

He came upon another version of himself that, apparently, Shizun has met before???

The same Shizun who inexplicably threw Binghe into the Abyss only to mourn him immediately afterwards. Who was absolutely terrified of him in Jinlan City, and kept blaming him for everything. Who died for him, only to pop up later in a replacement body Shang QingHua helped him make. Who just so happened to know a great deal of things he really shouldn’t about the Holy Mausoleum.

I’m not sure what Binghe would conclude from all this (I doubt he’d come up with transmigration exactly) but you can’t tell me his Protagonist IQ didn’t come up with some very interesting, and fairly plausible, scenarios.
