This gifset made me realize- one of the earliest scenes of Wilhelm is in a car, surrounded by hostile paparazzi and the Royal Court, wanting to be anywhere but in that car.
The last we see of him is in a different car, surrounded by warmth and the people he loves, wanting to be nowhere but in that car.

Hi there!
What was your favorite thing about the YR ending and Wilmon's reunion? What is it about Wilmon that makes them so special?
Be well! 🌼
Heyyyy💜
Ohhh this is such a good question. My favorite thing about the ending was how cathartic it was. People say that it's cheesy but I don't see it like that at all. Life is not a single string of misery, and as much as Wilhelm and Simon parting ways made sense with the story, their reunion felt like a celebration of the spark that made us all root for them since the beginning. They don't have to contemplate the what-ifs of their togetherness anymore. Tragedies stick with us more because it feels raw and real and honest. But sometimes, joy and bliss can be just as raw and real and honest, and the ending felt exactly like that.
I think what truly makes Wilhelm and Simon's love special is how their love for each other pushes them to love themselves more. Simon gets strength from Wille's love to walk away from the things that hurt him, even if it means jeopardizing their togetherness at times. Wille reevaluates his life and his choices because Simon's love gives him the strength to walk away from the things that hurt him as well. Their love itself is not a weakness that brings them down at all, it's a force that leads to the better for them.

young royals is definitely gonna end with wille leaving the crown behind for simon. “love shouldn’t be this hard” doesn’t contradict or push away wille/simon endgame at all. it’s an admission of love and an acknowledgment of how much their situation needs to change. wille is going to choose love over his situation, that’s the point. a large part of this series has been about wille trying and failing at learning who he is and what he stands for (often through his relationship with simon) with the monarchy always tripping him up every time and holding him back. the main song associated with the show is literally called revolution, a love song with “let’s start a revolution” as the chorus. i think if anything erik represented the future of tradition in the modern age, his death was the beginning of the death of tradition and the modern monarchy , wille has been defiant and opposed to every tradition thrown at him as soon as he arrives at hillerska, even the little things in the first episode like wanting to carry his own bags, wanting to sit the wrong end of the table etc. simon is part of this rejection of tradition, it’s a large part of why wille likes him so much, his first conversation with simon is him agreeing with his anti-monarchal opinions after class. all of this combined with wille’s growing intolerance for the way his family treats him and his loss of faith in erik, arguably the main driving point for him trying to uphold his role, all demonstrates just how much wille does not belong there. (even the imagery of the cracking of the snow globe with the frog prince inside is foreshadowing for this). his only real connections at this point are simon and felice. felice is going to be part of the beginning of hillerska’s downfall, we have seen her express wanting to be truthful and moral with the school investigation and we have seen how she is shown to be relatively outcast or used by the school because of her race and how this puts cracks in her faith in it’s system (simon too). not to mention felice has been strongly on wille and simon’s side since the beginning with the video leak (this plot line being the beginning of of showing wille’s two choices). wille i think will be the deciding factor for the shutting down of hillerska and fall of the monarchy, with simon and felice respectively being a large part of his motivations for both. this ending has been building from the start, simon and wille’s love story is the catalyst for this end of tradition and embracing of change.

I’ve seen a lot of complaints that August only apologizes to Wille for the video and not to Simon, but I actually think this is intentional. Like Sara tells him, August didn’t love her for her, he loved who he was when he was with her - she was always just an extension of him. This is how he seems Simon too - as an extension of Wille rather than a person in his own right, with his own hopes and dreams and feelings. The thought of apologizing to Simon (or Sara for that matter) has never even crossed his mind.

hi!
my yr-related question is what is the one small plot point that you would change that you think would affect the storyline in some way and how do you think it would've changed things?
(this isn't like erik dying or the tape not being leaked but like... wille staying when simon asks him to skip class in ep 5)
i hope this is coherent lol

Oooh this is a good question. I think I would change the no-phone rule they had going on in S3. I know it added to the whole Hillerska-shutting-down plot but I think it was unnecessary, especially from the perspective of Wilhelm and Simon's plot. They would have had less miscommunications. It also added to the way they didn't talk about their issues because they had so little time to spend with each other in between. It makes sense if they spend all that time kissing lol.

what do you think wilmon is doing right now at this very moment on april 23, 2024?
Ohhhh this ask :')
I imagine them waking up in each other's arms, going through with the morning slow and relaxed and full of little smiles. They took the day off because the work load was tiring for them. It's Wilhelm's turn to cook today. Their apartment is aglow with the summer sun shining through the curtains. Wilhelm is thinking about his birthday in a month and how ready he is to turn 20, to shed his past years like a skin and starting his 20s with a fresh step, with Simon by his side. The only good thing he gained from that life. Simon has already started planning Wille's birthday. They discuss laundry and electricity bills over the coffee machine, and it's the happiest they have been.

(I’ve sent so many of these to ppl that I’m not sure if you’ve also received one from me already. If so feel free to either ignore this or answer both if you feel up to it 💜)
If you could rewatch only one scene from each season which one would you choose?
Hey💜💜
If I had to choose:
Season 1: The Fish Scene. Duh. I think I've seen it like a thousand times since I first watched the show and I NEVER get tired of it.
Season 2: the Holy scene. Again, the same reason as above. Seen it so many times but never get tired of it.
Season 3: It's a close tie between the ending and Wilhelm joining the choir. I can watch these two forever.

What’s your favourite scene of each season and why?
HIII EMMA💜
Oh shit, this question got me thinking for a solid 15 minutes. There are so many scenes ahhhh.
Season 1: The Football Field Scene
I don't think I need to explain this. This scene is so many things at once- a raw look at just how deep Wilhelm's pain was, his hopelessness about his situation coming out in its messy, ugly drunkenness; Wilhelm remembering Simon of all people when he's literally not in his senses, confessing all the storm of his feelings crystal clear: I like you, and that is not fake; Simon showing up for Wilhelm, the fact that even as the audience you felt their relationship sinking into doom before but then there's this spark of hope that ignites within us, within Wille when Simon shows up and take Wille with him, with a soundtrack of "Let's start a revolution, how beautiful it is?". I think that scene was the first catalyst in the story and the first glimpse of Wilhelm and Simon choosing each other against all odds.
Season 2: Wilhelm and Simon discussing Kris in S2 E5
Look, I was this close to put the Valentine's Ball kiss here but the Kris scene is my favorite for a reason.
I think S2, in hindsight, did a really great job of giving us hope for Wilhelm and Simon as a couple, that they have the ability to look past their own situation and try to understand the other's perspective. It is an important foundation for any relationship, and it makes their S3 ending more believable because we have seen them do that.
And as much as I love the Valentine's kiss and how it was such a triumphant rush of emotions for them, it was still a rush of emotions. They had so much issues to course through, and the Kris conversation achieves that. Simon understands Wilhelm's relationship with his position and Wilhelm understands his own accountability in his situation. They are calm and understanding about it, and the beautiful irony is that the subtext of a novel managed to do what direct words couldn't. It's just beautiful.
S3: The lantern-by-the-window conversation in S3 E4
For me, it's the sweetest interaction between Wilhelm and Simon in the whole season because it's the first and probably the only glimpse we get of how their relationship would be after Wilhelm renounced his position. They don't talk about the monarchy or any other outside influences that loom over their relationship, they talk about themselves and their own tendencies because they are so different as people, the way Simon goes all soft when Wilhelm tells him that he learns from Simon (and later we learn that it is true), the way physical touch has been a sort of avoidance mechanism for them in the first three episodes but it does not feel like that in that scene with Wilhelm holding Simon's hand, the silent understanding flowing between them, Simon messing with Wilhelm when we have seen him stifling himself under all the pressure and hate. I don't know, I just love that scene very much.

Do you think Kristina would abdicate rather than let August taint her legacy? Why/why not?
Hii!💜
This is an interesting question. I don't know if it's a hot take but I don't think Kristina has any qualms with August as her successor.
And I don't mean it in a "Kristina is evil and irredeemable" way, she carries a lot of nuance in her character. In S2, when she told Wilhelm that August is his backup, she was not sharing her distress over August potentially taking over her position. Yes, she preferred Wilhelm to be the one to take over and for obvious reasons, but August's actions didn't seem like one. The Royals seem to have strange morals in the first place, so it's not a shot in the dark to think that she didn't think of August's actions as despicable like Wilhelm or literally anyone else would perceive. In her head, she saw August just as a way to get Wilhelm to step up and be the Crown Prince.
In S3, the settlement between August and Wilhelm/Simon was the only way the police investigation could have been prevented, stopping a PR disaster and the potential of losing August as a backup, and it was probably a suggestion insinuated by the Royal Court. August was invited to Wilhelm's birthday dinner even though he was not technically needed there, only Wilhelm's absolute disagreement to his presence stopped him from coming at all. Kristina even showed up at August's graduation(not necessarily for August, though). So I don't think she sees August in a light that could make her think that August would taint her legacy in the first place.
Again, this situation has nuance. Kristina seems to have a good grip over her position as the Queen, and she is probably has a good chunk of involvement in the decisions of the Royal Court. But then again, when she was sick the Royal Court still made major decisions and strategies for Wilhelm and August, and we have no idea how involved Kristina actually is in any of these situations, if she's just a figurehead or if she's actively involved in the strategies and decisions of the Royal Court. So, if the Royal Court seem to consider August as a "worthy" candidate, it is not difficult to believe that maybe Kristina shares the same views as them.
I don't think she will abdicate at all, that woman will drag her position to her grave lol. And certainly not because of August.

How many times have you watched season 3?
OOOOH to be honest, in its entirety I have seen it only once. I remember I did a rewatch of the five episodes before the last episode dropped, but I haven't watched all the episodes together. I haven't even rewatched the last episode in its entirety until now. But I have my own reasons, I have exams in a month for which I have been preparing since months and they're these national-level exams and honestly it's nerve-wracking so I want to rewatch it all when I'm free from all the anxiety and stress. But the wait is killing me because there is SO much to unpack in S3 and how it connects to previous seasons. So expect a lot of thoughts from me in May lmao.

i feel like for August what happened is the ultimate punishment, "be careful what you wish for" kind of thing
he's been living in his head in this bubble where being a titled royal is the ultimate reward and then it's contrasted with what people who have some perspective (can't believe I'm saying that about nils and vincent but okay) tell him like no, that's actually terrible
but he made his bed and now he has to lie in it
