Fujifilm X-T20 review | TechRadar
Tumblr media
Our Verdict The X-T2 is one of our favourite cameras at the moment, and with the X-T20 Fujifilm has managed to distill many of these key features into a slightly more compact and affordable camera that's likely to hit the sweet spot for many photographers. For Rich and detailed images Tactile controls Excellent handling Advanced AF system Film simulation modes Against Limited touchscreen control EVF magnification Battery life could be better Just as when it followed up the X-T1 with the X-T10, Fujifilm has taken a lot of the good stuff from the X-T2 and packaged it in a lighter, more affordable body to give us the X-T20. Rather than leaving a 16-month gap between launching the two cameras as it did with the X-T1 and X-T10 though, Fujifilm has hardly missed a beat, announcing the X-T20 just over four months after the X-T2. So should X-T2 owners now be kicking themselves over their purchase, or are there enough differences to separate the two?
Features
APS-C X-Trans CMOS III sensor, 24.3MP Touchscreen control High-resolution electronic viewfinder Just as we’ve seen with the X-Pro2 and X-T2, the X-T20 incorporates Fujifilm’s latest 24.3MP X-Trans CMOS III APS-C sensor. It delivers a significant boost in resolution from the X-T10’s 16.3MP sensor, and brings the new camera in line with pretty much most of its competitors. Fujifilm X-T20 specs Sensor: 24.2MP APS-C CMOS Lens mount: Fujifilm X-mount Screen: 3.0-inch tilt-angle touchscreen, 1,040,000 dots Burst shooting: 8fps Autofocus: 325-point AF Video: 4K Connectivity: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Battery life: 350 shots Weight: 383g The ISO range gets a boost as well, with a native sensitivity range of ISO200-12,800, compared to ISO200-6,400 on the X-T10, and while the expanded range stretches to the same sensitivity limits of ISO100-51,200, there’s some welcome news here too – unlike on the X-T10, where the expanded range was restricted to JPEG-only files, the X-T20 allows you to shoot raws as well JPEGs at this expanded range. The X-T20 sticks with the same 2.36 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder as we saw on the X-T10. Interestingly, while the resolution matches that of the EVF used in the X-T2, the magnification isn’t quite as impressive, at 0.62x compared to 0.77x, and not quite a match for the Lumix G80/G85’s 0.74x magnification. While the X-T2 did away with a touchscreen interface at the rear – at the time Fujifilm believed, after feedback from users, that there wasn’t a demand for it – it seems to have had a bit of a change of heart for the X-T20. The X-T20’s 3.0-inch touchscreen doesn’t quite offer the same breadth of control as, say, the one on the Canon EOS M5 or G80/G85 though, limiting you as it does to tapping the display to acquire focus and trigger the shutter, in addition to pinching to zoom when reviewing images; if you’re hoping to be able to toggle and adjust controls on the rear display you’ll be left disappointed. The X-T20 sticks with the same 2.36 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder as we saw on the X-T10 Resolution receives a boost over the X-T10, increasing from 920k-dots to 1.04m-dots, matching that of the X-T2. Unlike the X-T2, the X-T20’s display doesn’t take advantage of Fuji’s double-jointed design, but the mechanism still allows you to pull the display outwards for waist-level shooting, and downwards should you want to use the camera raised aloft. The X-T20 also comes equipped with Fujifilm’s X-Processor Pro imaging engine, which sees it spring into life a little quicker than the X-T10 at 0.4 seconds, while the shutter lag has been reduced to 0.05 seconds. There’s just a single SD card slot on the X-T20, compared to the X-T2’s two, while it doesn’t support UHS-II cards. The X-T20 offers 4K video capture (3840 x 2160) at 30p as well as Full HD (1920 x 1080) at 60p, both of which support film simulations as well. There’s an input for a microphone, but not for audio monitoring. Best mirrorless camera: 10 top models to suit every budget Read the full article

Unveil the top 11 upcoming cars 2020 in the Philippines
Tumblr media
What are your most anticipated cars for 2020 in the Philippines?
Upcoming cars 2020 in the Philippines: What are they?
From solid introductions of new car models in the Manila International Auto Show last April to the upcoming Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, ushering in a new era in Philippine motoring with electric vehicles, the anticipation for these new cars are reaching a fever-pitch among the local car industry and community. This year isn’t over, but car companies are now poised to introduce their contenders for the upcoming cars 2020 in the Philippines. There were some models in fact that were introduced all but suddenly the past year which were not part of our list back then and we were pleasantly surprised with their additions.
Tumblr media
Whether a redesign, variant or all-new model, we expect these vehicles to show up for the 2020 model year or not too long later. Though we are working with the best information available, these forecasts are subject to change at any time. In other words, nothing is official until it lands in the dealer’s showroom. Based on what we already know, the early 2020s are shaping up to be an interesting year. You can call it a mid-cycle refresh, a new variant or an all-new model, these models are prime for the picking and the anticipation for these models are so hot, that people are short of picking up their pitchforks and marching over to their respective dealers for immediate release! Philkotse.com team strives to keep all the information on this list as accurate as possible but these forecasts are ultimately reliant on the car companies and are surely subject to change. One thing is for sure, though. 2020 is going to be a great year for new cars and we’re excited to give you all the information you need about these new and exciting models! No. Model Status Release date 1 Nissan Leaf EV 2020 Confirmed Q2 2020 2 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 2020 Confirmed Q4 2019 3 Toyota GR Supra GT4 2020 Confirmed Q4 2019 4 Honda Accord 2020 Confirmed Q1 2020 5 Mazda 3 2020 Confirmed Q1 2020 6 Toyota Corolla Altis 2020 Tentative Q4 2019 7 Ford Everest "Raptor" Rumored Q1 2020 8 BMW 745e PHEV Tentative Q4 2019 9 BMW X7 2020 Confirmed Q4 2019 10 Kia Seltos Confirmed Q4 2019 11 Kia Stonic Confirmed Q4 2019
#1. Nissan Leaf EV 2020
Status: Confirmed Release date: Q2 2020 The Nissan Leaf is the Japanese brand’s shot into returning to local relevance. Although EV adoption is still at its infancy in the Philippines, there is an obvious push towards removing ourselves from relying on fossil fuels for our cars. Powered by a Fully Electric Synchronous Motor, the Electric Vehicle musters 148 hp and 320 Nm of torque with an estimated range of 270 km. The beauty of synchronous motors is that all that power is not reliant on engine speed or RPM as it has none of those. You can potentially make all that power instantly as soon as you hit the pedal. Another set of good news is that Nissan Philippines has confirmed that Nissan Leaf EV to arrive on Philippine shores by 2020 and they are major stakeholders in building the local infrastructure for charging systems with the pilot run around the capital. It’s a great time to be alive!

#2. Mitsubishi Montero Sport 2020
Status: Confirmed Release date: Q4 2019 The Mitsubishi Montero Sport is a class-leading vehicle and is proof that Mitsubishi is serious about being the leader in trucks and SUVs. The dynamic shield design creates a dynamic and aggressive front fascia that stands out from the pack in the PPV market. The Philkotse team loves the design, but then Mitsubishi released the 2019 Mitsubishi Strada came out of nowhere and surprised us with its much-improved bumper. It made us dream of the same design being slapped on to the Montero Sport. I never thought I would be so excited over a simple refresh. Multiple leaked photos of the Montero Sport doesn’t help satiate our desire for the new refreshed model as Mitsubishi cleverly camouflaged it to hide its design. It will still be powered by the same engine and produce the same power figures but color us intrigued for the upcoming release. Reports have surfaced that the model will be unveiled in Thailand this July 25th with local sales to be announced not long after. >>> Read our preview of the Mitsubishi Montero Sport 2020

Some spy shots of the Montero Sport facelift has been surfaced online while testing in Northern Sweden
#3. Toyota Supra 2020
Status: Confirmed Release date: Q4 2019 Nissan has it’s GT-R, Honda its Civic Type-R and even Chevrolet made their Corvette available for the local market. It has been a while since Toyota in the Philippines introduced a halo car to hover above all its sales leaders, but with the introduction of the Toyota Supra to our shores, they just became the top-dog. The Toyota Supra line has long retained its iconic status ever since the 90s when Bryan O’Connor smoked a fancy Ferrari F355 in the first The Fast and the Furious movie and with average prices for used Fourth-Generation Toyota Supras maintaining their premium prices, you just know that a Fifth-Gen release will bring in car buyers crashing the front doors to get their hands on a unit. Developed in partnership with BMW and based on the BMW Z4, it is powered by either a 2 liter inline-4 or 3-liter inline-6 turbocharged engine creating 255 hp and 335 hp respectively. Both models utilize an 8-speed automatic transmission and just like the previous model is in a Rear-Wheel Drive configuration. As of this writing, the Toyota Supra has now been introduced to our market and sales will begin shortly as a 2020 model.

#4. Honda Accord 2020
Status: Confirmed Release date: Q1 2020 The latest iteration of the Honda Accord has long been introduced globally and has made quite a stir thanks to its Turbocharged VTEC engine and bold styling. Although the Toyota Camry beat it to the punch this year with a local release, Honda fans have been anticipating its announcement and release. Hope does spring eternal with the new model being introduced at the 2019 Bangkok International Motor Show earlier this year. Since the release of Honda Accord in our ASEAN neighbor, it is safe to say it will be available here as well. The Honda Accord available in their shores is the 1.5-liter turbo VTEC engine that makes 187 hp and 243 Nm of torque with a Hybrid option available. Honda gives you 10 forward speeds with their automatic transmission, although personally I still wish they bring the 6-speed manual version, one can dream, right? The model will also make an introduction on the 18th of this month at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in Tangerang, Indonesia giving the Philippines hope for a late 2019 or early 2020 release.

Honda fans have been anticipating for the debut of Honda Accord 2020
#5. Mazda 3 2020
Status: Confirmed Release date: Q1 2020 Mazda has always been at the forefront of technology with the internal combustion engine. From the Wankel Rotary to the Sky-Active engine their research and development team worked tirelessly to create new ways to propel cars the way we know it. The all-new 4th Generation Mazda 3 will bring forth a new development with the introduction of the SkyActive-X engine, a combustion system where engine compression is significantly increased to burn fuel more efficiently to create more power and increase fuel efficiency and recent tests have shown very promising results. The 2-liter Sky-Active engine creates 190 hp and 280 Nm of torque, all from a Naturally aspirated engine. These figures have never been seen from an engine with similar displacement. The Mazda 3 has been announced for release earlier this year, showcasing this technology wrapped in a very sporty and attractive Kodo Design. Mazda is positioning itself as Japan’s premium car brand and it shows with the build quality and design language. A local wide release is scheduled for late 2019 to early 2020.

#6. Toyota Corolla Altis 2020
Status: Tentative Release date: Q4 2019 --- Update (September 9th, 2019): The all-new Toyota Corolla Altis 2020 is officially released in the Philippines! Click here to get full details. --- If the Toyota Camry beat the Honda Accord with releasing first in the Philippines, they sure got the short end of the stick when it comes to their compact sedans. The Honda Civic has enjoyed a significant lead in sales compared to its natural competitor, the Toyota Corolla Altis. This year, Toyota is gearing up for a return in a big way with the release of the 12th Generation of their iconic sedan. Featuring a radical redesign from the outgoing model, The New Corolla Altis is based on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) GA-C platform found in the new Prius and CH-R. The ASEAN model is rumored to be available with a 1.6 and 1.8 engine. Reports have indicated that the model will be available in the Thailand beginning August this year, and hopefully to the Philippine market not long after that. We can most likely expect a new Toyota Corolla Altis at the end of the 4th Quarter 2019.

#7. Ford Everest "Raptor"
Status: Rumored Release date: Q1 2020 Much like the Strada and Montero Sport, the release of the Ford Ranger Raptor 2019 gave fans wild dreams of what a potential Ford Everest “Raptor” would look like. If the Everest Bi-Turbo and the Ranger Raptor’s power figures were any indication the 2-liter engine bi-turbo diesel engine pushes out 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque, beastly figures that are the best in their respective classes. You can chalk this up more in the rumor department but multiple sources from Ford have indicated that the beast does exist and a planned announcement is set for the First Half of 2020.
Tumblr media

#8. BMW 745e PHEV
Status: Tentative Release date: Q4 2019 You’ve seen the memes for these cars. With their over-sized Kidney Grill, the internet seems to be fascinated with the latest iteration of the BMW 7 Series and X7 Luxury SUV. Introduced and released internationally at the beginning of the year, 2 of BMW's flagship marques offer top-notch luxury and motoring decadence. Powering the 745e is a 3 liter inline-6 turbocharged engine with designation called the xDrive45e paired to an electric drive motor combining for a total output of 394 hp and a staggering 600 Nm of torque, the BMW 745e has a 0-100 km/h rating of a little less over 5 seconds. No one would be laughing at that over-sized grill once they get left in the dust by this PHEV. Local sources from within BMW have indicated a release for the 745e at 4Q of this year for a 2020 model year release.
Tumblr media
The BMW 745e offers top-notch luxury and motoring decadence
#9. BMW X7 2020
Status: Confirmed Release date: Q4 2019 BMW also has its ultra Luxury SUV, the BMW X7 on the horizon, with a confirmed release for this 4Q 2019. The new BMW X7 doesn't have an electric motor to assist its propulsion but makes up for it with a 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 churning out a mind-blowing 523 hp and 750 Nm of torque. This propels the behemoth from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Information about the X7 is already posted on BMW Philippines' website and we were informed of a 4Q 2019 release. It seems like we now have a new aspirational car if we do win the lottery.
Tumblr media
The BMW X7 is surely one of the upcoming cars 2020 in the Philippines
#10. & #11. Kia Seltos & Kia Stonic
Status: Confirmed Release date: Q4 2019 Earlier this year Kia Philippines has announced that they would not be releasing the updated Kia Soul in the Philippine Market but will instead be replacing it with another model. They’ve dropped multiple hints about what it could be and even released the Kia Stinger at this year’s Manila International Auto Show to heighten our anticipation. Since being taken over by the Ayala Group, Kia Philippines has promised to streamline their model line-up and introduce new and exciting vehicles.
Tumblr media
Kia Philippines has promised to streamline their model line-up The possibility of either the Kia Seltos or the Kia Stonic or even both have long been discussed and the anticipation has now reached its boiling point. These models are both Compact Crossover SUVs with the Stonic more appropriately sized as a Nissan Juke Competitor and the Seltos, a slightly larger vehicle but can still be bundled within that same category. The Kia Seltos is the likeliest release of the 2 cars with its focus on the Asian market but we can't discount the Stonic just yet. If Kia’s local releases this year have been any indication, their ability to surprise the market is impeccable with their aptitude to keep release dates and marketing strategies they always know how to keep us on our toes. It is expected that either one or even both of these vehicles will be rolling off Kia showrooms by the end of this year at the end of Q4 of 2019

Best and worst small cars for less than £10,000
Tumblr media
If you're after a new small hatchback, there are lots of fine cars to choose from. And what's even better is that you don't have to spend more than £10,000 to find a good one. In fact, if you look in our new car deals section, you'll find lots of great cars for less than that. Most of these options are classed as city cars; that means they're ideally suited to cruising around towns or cities – although many are also perfectly at home in the countryside or on the motorway. These small cars are easy to park, too, and while they may not offer the sort of space you'd find in a larger family car, they do offer clever ways to maximise space for both people and luggage. Here's our pick of the new cars on sale today if you're on a budget. Best small cars for less than £10,000
Tumblr media
9. Peugeot 108 Range price from: £9120 | Our pick: 1.0 Active 3dr Another car that's related to the Aygo, the Peugeot 108 matches the C1's tempting price tag. However, the 108 is available with extra technology and a wide variety of styling options that let you customise the car, hence its higher ranking. Tumblr media
8. Toyota Aygo Range price from: £8995 | Our pick: 1.0 VVT-i X-Play 3dr Although the dramatically styled Toyota Aygo may not look like them, it is, in fact, closely related to the Citroën C1 and Peugeot 108. Each manufacturer has taken their car's styling in a different direction, but the Toyota is the most extreme and, more than the other two, offers more opportunities for personalisation. Its list price is also marginally cheaper than the French-badged alternatives. Read the full Toyota Aygo review Find out how much you could save on a Toyota Aygo Best small cars for less than £10,000

7. Dacia Sandero Range price from: £5995 | Our pick: 0.9 TCe Ambiance We'd be remiss if we didn't include the UK's cheapest new car on this list, because even in 2018 the Sandero's tempting entry-level price of £5995 makes headlines. The Access model that price relates to is a little spartan inside, though, so we'd spend a bit more and go for the Ambiance model, which comes with some useful kit including air conditioning, a DAB radio and electric front windows. Tumblr media
5. Ford Ka+ Range price from: £9795 | Our pick: 1.2 Ti-VST 70 Zetec 3dr It may be called a Ka, but the latest Ford Ka+ is a very different proposition from the models that preceded it. Instead of a funky-looking and diminutive three-door, you now get a larger five-door that prioritises practicality and a cheap purchase price over fashionable looks. Best small cars for less than £10,000
Tumblr media
4. Volkswagen Up Range price from: £9320 | Our pick: 1.0 TSI 90 High Up 3dr The Volkswagen Up is closely related to the Mii and the Skoda Citigo, and while it's similarly good to drive, its classy interior helps to give it a more premium feel inside. In fact, the Up shames some cars that cost half as much again. It is comfortable to drive around town, and our recommended High Up trim gets you all of the equipment you're likely to want. 3. Hyundai i10 Range price from: £8995 | Our pick: 1.2 Premium SE Short in length, tall in height and with five doors as standard, the Hyundai i10 is all about low costs and ease of driving. It's quieter and more spacious than most rivals, too, and comes with the reassurance of a five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. Tumblr media
2. Kia Picanto Range price from: £9450 | Our pick: 1.25 3 5dr We weren't big fans of the previous Kia Picanto, but with this new model Kia has seriously upped its game. Despite its cheap price tag, this Picanto offers generous space inside and excellent handling, and it's all backed up by Kia's seven-year warranty. Tumblr media

Indian team for ICC World Cup 2019 announced, Rishabh Pant dropped
Tumblr media
MUMBAI/NEW DELHI: Dinesh Karthik Monday returned to India's World Cup squad after 12 years, trumping Mahendra Singh Dhoni's heir apparent Rishabh Pant in a selection move that will be debated for a long time. The second wicketkeeper was the sole bone of contention for the marquee event starting in England and Wales on May 30 and the 33-year-old Karthik's experience of 91 ODIs gave him the edge over the 21-year-old Pant, according to the five-member selection panel headed by MSK Prasad. Karthik, the oldest Indian player in terms of international debut (three months before Mahendra Singh Dhoni in September 2004), was also part of the Indian squad during its disastrous 2007 World Cup campaign. He, however, missed the bus in 2011 and the 2015 editions. In the squad that was announced Monday, Dhoni will be playing his fourth, expected to be the final, 50-over World Cup. Kohli will play his third edition while Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were all a part of the 2015 edition. India captain Kohli's pre-IPL statement that the cash-rich league will have no effect on the selections proved to be prophetic as Pant's 245 runs in the T20 showpiece fell short of Karthik's 111 runs. Naturally, Prasad had to field the maximum questions on Pant's omission and the explanation was Tamil Nadu stumper's experience. "It is definitely a case which we have debated at length. In unison, we felt either DK or Pant will only come into the playing eleven if Mahi is injured. So, at that juncture if it is a crucial match, a quarterfinal or a semifinal, keeping also matters," Prasad told reporters after the announcement of the squad "That is the only reason why we went ahead with DK otherwise Pant was almost there," he added. It was a more or less predictable 15-member squad picked by the national selection committee with another notable inclusion being Tamil Nadu's seam bowling all-rounder Vijay Shankar, who is expected to be used as a floater in the batting order, especially at number 4. #TeamIndia for @ICC #CWC19 #MenInBlue https://t.co/rsz44vHpge — BCCI (@BCCI) 1555321948000 Shankar, with his "three-dimensional qualities", took the slot which was speculated to go to Ambati Rayudu before his dip in form in the home series against Australia last month. "We have been planning soon after the completion of the Champions Trophy (2017) for this. But let me tell you that in the last month or so, there have been a couple of players who have really cropped up like Vijay Shankar," he said. But there was no debate on KL Rahul's inclusion and he is set to be the third opener or a potential middle-order floater alongside Shankar. As reported by PTI earlier, Prasad confirmed that Shankar is being seen as a potential number four candidate along with Rahul and Kedar Jadhav. "The point that was discussed is that Vijay Shankar will bat at no.4 like Kedar Jadhav and we also have a role for KL somewhere at the top of the order. It all depends on the team management," Prasad indicated. Ravindra Jadeja's all-round skills and his ability to be restrictive on dry wickets came into consideration during his selection in the 15. "In the last one and half years, it is these two wristies (wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav), who have won us the games but there might be situations where, you require an additional all-rounder in the playing 11, (this is) where Jadeja comes in," Prasad explained. "And in the second part of the tournament, when the wickets will be more dry, we felt Jadeja will be handy." With Hardik Pandya and Shankar to perform the duties of a combined fourth pacer, there was no place for an additional specialist speedster in the line-up. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the back-up pacer and Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are expected to start in all the big games, fitness permitting. However, Prasad said that Navdeep Saini and Khaleel Ahmed's names were discussed. It is expected that both the young fast bowlers will be travelling with the team to England as back-up, who could be drafted in if anyone from the pace troika of Bumrah, Shami and Bhuvneshwar get injured. India's 15-member World Cup Squad: Virat Kohli (Captain) Rohit Sharma (Vice Captain) Shikhar Dhawan KL Rahul Vijay Shankar MS Dhoni Kedar Jadhav Dinesh Karthik Yuzvendra Chahal Kuldeep Yadav Bhuvneshwar Kumar Jasprit Bumrah Hardik Pandya Ravindra Jadeja Mohd Shami Commenting feature is disabled in your country/region. The Least Expensive New Cars
Tumblr media
Looking for a set of wheels that won't cost the earth? These are some of the least expensive cars that were produced in 2018. Some are great deals, others not so much. So, before you head to the dealerships, read our list, below.
Nissan Versa 1.6 S
Aaron Gold Good value? Yes, great! The Nissan Versa sedan has been the least-expensive new car for a number of years now, but it’s also the best value on this list. Cheap as it is, the Versa is a roomy four-door sedan with nearly as much interior space as a mid-size car like the Kia Optima—and for a little more than half the price. What are the downsides? Well, the styling is a bit homely and creature comforts on the base model are few and far between. The Versa does come with air conditioning and Bluetooth, but it lacks power windows and locks—the latter a must-have if you’re hauling kids. And if you want an automatic transmission, you’ll have to pay an extra $2,200. The good news is that the rest of the options are reasonably priced: Even a top-of-the-line Versa SL with power windows and locks, a fuel-efficient CVT automatic transmission, alloy wheels, Bluetooth, and navigation costs less than a basic Honda Civic.
Chevrolet Spark L
Aaron Gold Good deal? Pretty good Chevrolet has done a great job of keeping the Spark's price in check since it was introduced in 2012. The 2018 five-speed manual hatchback now comes standard with alloy wheels and power windows and locks, which used to be options. You'll also still get air conditioning, Bluetooth, a touch-screen stereo, 10 airbags, and OnStar, a subscription-based system that will automatically call for help if the car is in a crash. That makes it a great choice for teen drivers. The new Spark has traded its cute-and-cuddly styling for a more mature look, and with its high-quality interior and quiet ride, the Spark drives like a bigger and more expensive car. It helps that Chevrolet has fitted a bigger and more powerful engine, and yet the Spark’s EPA fuel economy estimates are slightly higher than the old car. There’s a long list of options, including pricey features like a lane-departure and collision warning systems, though such extravagances raise the price. Back seat and trunk space remain cramped, so the Chevrolet Spark is still best for singles and couples.
Mitsubishi Mirage ES
Aaron Gold Good value? Yes, if you’re not picky. The Mitsubishi Mirage ES is the very definition of cheap wheels. In addition to standard features like air conditioning, power windows, and power locks, Mitsubishi added a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth phone/audio streaming, a rearview camera, and steering wheels audio and Bluetooth controls for 2018. Even with all the optional goodies—alloy wheels, push-button ignition, and navigation—it's still about $1,500 cheaper than a comparably equipped Nissan Versa. The Mirage won't break any speed records, but its 3-cylinder engine delivers an honest 38 miles per gallon in day-to-day driving. The Mirage is covered by an epic warranty, with 5 years or 60,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage and 10 years/100,000 miles on the powertrain. On the downside, the Mirage is noisy, slow, and an unpleasant companion on long road trips—but for inexpensive city motoring, this vehicle is hard to beat.
Ford Fiesta S
Aaron Gold Good value? Yes, and getting better. Of all the cars on this list, the Fiesta is by far the most fun to drive, with sharp steering and a responsive chassis. And while it’s not the least expensive on this list, Ford continues to up the ante by including power door locks, remote keyless entry, and a voice-activated touch-screen stereo with smartphone app integration as part of the base model's standard equipment list, which also includes air conditioning and power-adjustable mirrors. It used to be that buyers could only choose between black, white, and silver, but now mint green, bright blue, red metallic, and neon green are also available. Even better, the Fiesta S is zippier than most automobiles in its class, with a 1.6L Ti-VCT I-4 engine that delivers 120 horsepower and 112 lb.-ft. of torque.
Kia Rio LX
Kia Good value? Only the base model One of the problems with cheap cars is that a lot of them look like cheap cars—and who needs a constant reminder that their income isn't quite up to Mercedes levels? The Kia Rio's smooth, modern styling belies its cheap price tag, and it has the same upscale look inside as it does on the outside. Unfortunately, when it comes to value-for-money, the Kia Rio stumbles. The basic four-door LX model comes with a fuel-efficient engine, air conditioning, and an AM/FM/CD/Satellite radio audio system, but the price just goes up as you add upgrades: $400 more for the five-door hatchback, $1,000 more for the automatic transmission, and a whopping $3,000 more for the EX, which features a slew of goodies like power windows and locks, alloy wheels, and a Bluetooth speakerphone. That said, if appearance is more important than value, the Rio is still a cheap car that doesn’t look cheap.
Nissan Versa Note S
Aaron Gold Good value? Only if you value style over substance While the Nissan Versa sedan is one of the best cars on this list, the Nissan Versa Note differs. The Note is definitely the more stylish of the two; it was designed with Western European buyers in mind, whereas the sedan was designed for emerging markets in Asia. The Versa Note has plenty of back seat and cargo space, but it also has the same flimsy interior fittings as the sedan, and for a higher price. With crank-down windows and manual door locks, the entry-level Versa Note isn't much of a bargain compared to the other cars on this list, and the equation doesn't get any better once you start piling on the options. If a hatchback is what you want, the Honda Fit offers similar space and better value—and the Kia Rio is just as good looking.
Chevrolet Sonic LS
General Motors Good value? Yes The Chevrolet Sonic is yet another bright spot on this list, offering handsome styling, a reasonably powerful 1.8-liter engine, and a stylish interior built with parts that feel like they were pulled from General Motors' more expensive cars. The base-model Sonic includes air conditioning, alloy wheels, and the protection of 10 airbags, which is more than many high-end luxury cars. Out on the road, the Sonic feels substantial and sporty, though it can't quite match the fun-to-drive factor of the Ford Fiesta. In addition, the Sonic is an American car that is actually built in America—in fact, it's the only car on this list to don the "Made in USA" label. However, rumor has it that Chevy is discontinuing the Sonic starting in 2019, with no plans to replace it. If that happens, it will mark the first time 40 years that Chevy has not released an inexpensive subcompact car.
Smart ForTwo
Aaron Gold Good value? For an all-electric car, yes Introduced in 1998, the Smart ForTwo is now in its third generation, and completely electric. Which means it's pretty much an urban ride. While not the least expensive car on this list—it retails for around $15,000 base—depending on how long you own it, you could save at least a couple thousand dollars in gas along by taking the financial hit up front. Smart Car designed the 2018 with a more powerful engine, a better transmission, and much better driving dynamics—no other car can make a U-turn as tightly or efficiently. It's also better equipped: Air conditioning, power steering, and power windows are now standard. Unfortunately, some of the drawbacks remain: The Smart ForTwo has no back seat, and since parking sideways is illegal in most states, its super-small size isn't quite as much of an advantage in the U.S. as it is in Europe.
Hyundai Accent GLS
Hyundai Good value? Meh A close relative of the Kia Rio, the Hyundai Accent is basically the same car with a different skin. It offers many of the same advantages including the fuel-efficient engine, generous back seat, and a lengthy warranty. So why is the Accent more expensive? Primarily because it's slightly better equipped: Along with air conditioning and a USB-compatible stereo (both standard on the Rio), the Accent GLS comes with power windows and power locks with a keyless remote—Kia won't give you that unless you buy a more expensive model. And while a hatchback Rio will cost you $400 more, Hyundai charges just $250 extra for that fifth door. The automatic transmission is also a better deal on the Hyundai. The Hyundai Accent isn't the best value on this list, but it is a solid little car.
Toyota Yaris
Aaron Gold Good value? Not great, but better than it was Besides its angry new face, the Toyota Yaris is much more pleasant to drive than in years past, with a better manual-trans shifter, an improved suspension, and nine airbags in case it all goes wrong. The Yaris is still saddled by its old-school 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission, both of which rob it of power and fuel economy, which is why the automatic, which is reasonably priced, is the way to go if you have the extra money. Bear in mind that the Yaris is one of the few cars on this list that comes with two doors. Again, for extra money, you can get it as a hatchback or spring for the four-door model, which does include an automatic transmission.
Toyota Yaris iA
Scion Good value? Only if you want a well-equipped car Formerly the Scion iA, this car is well worth your attention if you love to drive because it rivals the Ford Fiesta for cheap thrills. The iA was actually engineered by Mazda—it's basically a Mazda2 with a different grille—and that company's "Zoom-Zoom" tagline is no joke. The Yaris iA does give you a lot for the money. Although it only offers one trim level, it comes standard with power windows, locks, and mirrors, keyless push-button ignition, a 7-inch touchscreen, a backup camera, and a low-speed forward collision warning system. And you can't beat the fuel economy at 32 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway.
Kia Soul Base
Aaron Gold Good value? Only with a manual transmission The Kia Soul has long been a favorite cheap car, thanks to its cutting-edge styling and a long list of standard equipment—A/C, power everything, cruise control alloy wheels, tinted side windows, and an iPod-compatible stereo with satellite radio. The 2014 redesign improved the ride and handling to the point that it drives like a much more expensive car. As with most bargain autos, you'll pay more if you want an automatic transmission. But if you can drive a stick-shift, the Kia Soul gives you a lot of car— and a lot of style—for the money.
Honda Fit LX
Honda Good value? Yes, definitely! Plainly put, the Honda Fit is the most useful subcompact car you can buy. It's a small car, but one that packs a surprisingly roomy back seat and a smartly shaped trunk that can be expanded to accommodate nearly as much cargo as a small SUV. It's also zippy and mind-bogglingly fuel efficient, as it averages over 40 mpg in the highway. The lower-priced LX is the way to go, as it has a knob-and-button operated stereo that is simpler to use than the touch-screen unit in the EX. On the downside, the Fit is noisy and it's expensive compared to other small cars, but its combination of durability and practicality make it a good value and one of the best small cars you can buy.
Kia Forte LX
Kia Good value? Not bad Like other Kia models, the Kia Forte is attractively styled, though the LX trim with its cheap plastic wheel covers certainly doesn't cast this otherwise handsome car in its best light. The Forte EX looks much nicer, but it's also priced higher. The LX model comes with power windows, mirrors and locks, satellite radio, and Bluetooth phone connectivity. The automatic transmission is of course pricier, but at least it comes bundled with cruise control and better-looking alloy wheels. That said, with a starting price much lower than most compact sedans, the Forte is a good deal on a decent-sized set of wheels.
Chevrolet Cruze Limited L
General Motors Good value? Yes, if you want to spend a bit more The most expensive economy car on this list has its good points and its bad. On the plus side, the interior is roomy-looking and sporty, the gas mileage is good, you can choose from four trim levels, and it comes loaded with options. The base level alone gets you 15-inch steel wheels, Bluetooth, Chevy's MyLink infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a four-speaker audio system, a USB port, cloth upholstery, and a rearview camera. On the downside, interior components vary in build quality and if you get larger alloy wheels, they are noisy. Still, if you have a bit of extra money and need a fuel efficient car that looks sporty and handles decently, give this a test drive. Source Read the full article
