anyway so in my modern verse lane gets kicked out earlier than she did in the show cause her mom found all her stuff. so she goes to live with rory at like 14. she finally gets to be comfortable being herself with healthy encouragement from lorelai and rory. she gets her purple hair back and keeps it this time. her and her band post tiktoks and their audios are really popular. by the time they’re 18-20 their band is doing pretty well but her and zac ( zack?? zach?? whatever ) break up and eventually the band does too. but music has always been the goal so she moves to new york and starts a new all girl band and uses their old account to post stuff for the new band and it just takes off. anyway, lane kim is a rock star.

honestly from what we can tell i don’t think lane had any friends other than rory until the band. she barely gets to do much as is and we know her mom wouldn’t have let lane just go hangout with anyone. like she barely even let her see rory. she must have been so lonely when rory transferred schools and suddenly was busy with chilton and a boyfriend. and i know she joined the cheerleading squad for this reason but its never mentioned again after that episode so do we even know if she remained a cheerleader and got any friends, not really. anyway thinking about lanes life makes me sad.

also guys with this color isolation/monochromatic trend i am begging you not to buy psds. there are so many free color isolation psds because it was a major trend like 7 years ago and i will send you some if you need one but you really don’t need to spend your money on this unless you want to obviously then live your life. i just wanted to throw that out there in caase people didn’t know.

listen i know her mom comes around later on in the series but we gotta talk about how people just witnessed the way lane was being treated and did nothing so lets get into it. i think the most surprising thing is that lane’s relationship with her mother is a mirror lorelai’s ( granted for different reasons but v similar treatment ) when she was a child but lorelai didn’t take a more active role in helping lane ( lane was never a focus for this show so i blame the writers )?? and it doesn’t even end with being controlling. lane was practically starved most of the time cause her mother fed her disgusting “healthy” food, she hid her whole personality under floor boards, she didn’t have even the slightest bit of privacy, etc. i could keep going but you get the point. and sure in small ways people helped her but lane needed more than that. the trauma of having parents like this hurts so deeply and she was so young. she needed help and everyone acted like it was okay.
