1. What is the Ingredients?
Sugar, Glucose Syrup (Sources include Wheat), Milk Solids, Vegetable Fat, Cocoa Butter,Cocoa Mass, Barley Malt Extract, Cocoa Powder, Egg White, Emulsifier (Soy Lecithin), Salt , Natural Flavor (Vanilla Extract).
2. Where do the Ingredients come from?
The Milky Way bar is a chocolate-covered candy bar manufactured and distributed by the Mars confectionery company. Introduced in 1923, the American version of the Milky Way bar is made of chocolate-malt nougat topped with caramel and covered with milk chocolate and sold as the Mars bar everywhere else.
3.How are the ingredients produced?
Chocolate-Malt Nougat-  It’s made with egg whites (like a meringue), but with the addition of sugar, corn syrup, malted milk powder, and chocolate.
Caramel-  caramel candy, is a soft, dense, chewy candy made by boiling a mixture of milk or cream, sugars, glucose, butter, and vanilla (or vanilla flavoring). ... Adding the vanilla or flavorings earlier would result in their burning off at the high temperatures.
Milk Chocolate-  Milk chocolate is made by combining chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, sugar, flavorings, and sweetened condensed or powdered whole milk.
4. What are the working conditions of the people who produced the cocoa?
Cocoa farmers low income leads to serious violations of human and labor rights on cocoa farms. Because of their poor income, farmers cannot pay sufficient salaries to the workers and provide them with acceptable accommodation and health care. Furthermore, workers and farmers are often exposed to hazardous working conditions: they handle pesticides without protective clothing, work with dangerous tools and have excessive working hours. They face gender and ethnic discrimination and suffer from poor nutrition.
5. How do the producers get the cocoa to the market?
Cocoa makes a long and winding journey from bean to bar. The crop starts in the farms of tropical nations, especially in West Africa, and travels through ports, shipping containers and processing plants. But before they can reach your bag of M&M’s, cocoa beans also travel through an intangible dimension the financial world of price graphs, futures contracts and commodity.
6. How are the prices set?
U.S. dollars and cents per ton. $1.00 per ton ($10 per contract)
7. Which International corporations dominate the chocolate trade?
The top four countries responsible for the production of chocolate are the United States, Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium
8. Who regulates the trade?
After reports of labor abuses by major chocolate corporations recently surfaced, smaller businesses and some consumers are moving to purchase chocolate that meets Fair Trade standards for worker treatment and wages.
9. Where did you buy your chocolate bar from ?
Any local convient store.
10. How is chocolate marketed?
Throughout history, chocolate has been marketed differently to different consumer types. Some companies like to show their customers that their chocolate has the most weight, by using digital scales and then showing what the price computing scales read on the actual package label.
11. How much profit does a store owner make on one chocolate bar ?
Gross profit margin as an equation depicts, over a certain time interval, sales adjusted for costs, divided by total revenues. Higher margins are generally better, signaling greater efficiency of operations. Smaller chocolate vendors face fewer expenses than larger conglomerates and should have higher profit margins.
13. The story behind the chocolate bar.
The Milky Way bar was created in 1923 by Frank C. Mars and originally manufactured in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The name and taste were taken from a famed malted milk drink (milkshake) of the day, which was in turn named after the Earth's galaxy. The Milky Way bar is a chocolate-covered candy bar manufactured and distributed by the Mars confectionery company. Introduced in 1923, the American version of the Milky Way bar is made of chocolate-malt nougat toupped with caramel and covered with milk chocolate and sold as the Mars bar everywhere else. The global Milky Way is a different chocolate candy bar similar to the American 3 Musketeers.

FW #9 Social Class & Inequality
http://uregina.ca/~gingrich/s28f99.htm
Karl Marx talk about social class in a very ideal way. Karl Marx's ideas are studied and used by philosophers, historians, economists, sociologists and political scientists. Marx's ideas were seen as so radical that he was perceived as an inspiration to revolutionists. Marx explained how class theory is justifited as asserts that an individual’s position within a class hierarchy is determined by his or her role in the production process, and argues that political and ideological consciousness is determined by class position.
To Marx, a class is a group with intrinsic tendencies and interests that differ from those of other groups within society. Marxian class theory has been open to a range of alternate positions. Within Marxian class theory, the structure of the production process forms the basis of class construction.Marx arguement is always about class. In every mode of production one class dominates and the other is dominated. The bourgeois revolution simplified the antagonisms of class.

 Ways gender stereotypes are reinforced?
 1.     Schools fail to encourage subject choices in a gender-neutral way
2.     Women are supposed to make less money than men
3.     Women are quieter that men and are not meant to speak out
4.     Women are supposed to be submissive and do as they are told
5.     Women are not politicians
6.     Men do not do housework and they are not responsible for taking care of children
7.     Men are in charge, they are always on top
8.     Men are lazy and messy
9.     Men are the aggressor
10.  Men are doctors not nurses
How society has society shaped my view of gender?
Society has made me believe that, basically; a male figure runs the world. Men are the over achievers and hard workers in life. People make assumptions about other people’s physical appearance, not knowing their true character traits. I believe that Women are capable of doing just as much as a male can do, if not more.

FieldWork Assignment #5 “The Human Family Tree”
The “Out Of Africa” is a theory that argues that every living human being is descended from a small group of Homo sapiens individuals in Africa. Dr.Spencer Wells proved that the theory was true, he suspect that we all have descended from Africa. Im thw film it stated that all humans are apart of one family tree. Dave’s Lineage story supports the theory “Out of Africa”
Dave is aware that he has ancestors from Ghana and probably other places, but he consider himself African American. Dave realized that if he has family before slavery it would be hard to track. Many people have would follow herds of animals that led them further from Central Asia due to the climate change, shifting from cold weather to warm weather in Asia, that caused the grasslands to move outwards. Some of Daves ancestors was traced back to Asia, where mostly 50% of European men where at the time. His DNA was traced back to Tajikistan. While migrating many people split up and went there different ways and Dave’s family was one of many people that followed the “M173” route towards Europe. Everyone had to adapt to the new changes and things they need to do to survive. Dr.Spencer Wells believes that Dave ancestors may have fathered a child of African descendant.
In conclusion, the “Out of Africa” theory appears to be true throughout the film. It is said that all men are genetically related to one man and woman are related to one female which is “Scientific Adam & Scientific Eve”. Many people may look different in many ways but we all orignated from a group in Africa which is the Homosapiens.

Chapter 4 “Language & Gender In The Classroom”
1. In my psychology class there are only 5 people in my class. So of course women have the advantage of talking more than men, although the men participate in class as well as the women. Its very vary that men participate in class unless they really have to or they are really engaged with the conversation. I observed that in many of my other classes men participate because they understand the topic and the classes are an essential part of their major. Majority of the time both men and women have debates in class about their opinions and standards of one another.
2. On average people in my class dont speak for more than 5-6 minutes depending on the topic and amount of time in class.
3. In most classes women have a tendacy to speak up about certain situations they are concerned about. The tone of their voice is very high and poised. On the other hand guys voices are much deeper and usually have to repeat themselves because they speak under their breath.
4. My instructor is very confident in her students. She lets everyone speak and particpate in class. When no one raises their hand or wants to particpate then thats when she calls on people randomly.
5. The ratio of men to women is about 2:12. Since its more women in the class everyone is welcomed to speak and voice their opinion. Usually she wants to hear from a male and a female.
6. I think the gender of the class impacts the way she teaches because for the most part, most male teachers are usually very talkative instead of doing hands on activites unless they really have too , Its common that male teachers are less interactive and boring in a classeoom setting. Women teacher on the other hand are more hands on which makes students more content.

FieldWork Assignment #3 “Mapping A Block”
Tumblr media
1. The location i picked was the intersection of of University Ave & Central Ave in Newark NJ. I chose this location because this is the most active street in my neighborhood. I found it interesting how everything you need while attending college is around the area and is in within walking distance for example: barbershop, hair salon, restaurants.
2. The one thing i noticed in my observation that i never noticed before was the location of the night club. Some college students may think that it shouldn’t be there because of the distractions and time management between school work and partying, others may think its an good idea because it gives students something to do when boredom kills.
3. The thing thats absent that i would expect to find is a hospital or and urgent care center.
4. During the day you may notice the commute between college students traveling from class to class. During the day it may be busy but at night and on the weekends you might not see anyone because college student may go home and may be out partying.

Iphones may impact a great portion of today’s society’s life. Personally an Iphone may impact my life in a good way and a bad way. It can be a distraction to one’s life. It may also harm you in many ways with relationship problems involving social media. It can also cause a distraction in area’s like a workplace, school & home & even driving. Needless to say i have witnessed many car accidents where the driver was texting and not paying attention to the road.
How does the Iphone impact the people who made it ?
The Iphone can impact the people who makes them in a positive way because they know every detail about the iPhone and all the updates it involves and problems that may occur. It can be an easy fix for the people who makes them because they will be the first to experience the iPhone
