Dragon Raja Otome: The Lionheart Headquarters

“The Church is the most isolated place on Campus, with the exception of the Ice Cellar. Orientation should take place in isolated places to avoid unrelated people.” He turned and started walking away.

Lancelot nodded. “The Student Club Festival is ending but please feel free to check out the Lionheart Headquarters or Visit your Dorm. There are other Festivities that will happen tonight as well if you want to meet some other students.

Lancelot opened his mouth to voice an objection but Johann Chu had already pulled out his phone. “EVA has your contact information. Here I’ll send you a text.”

Your phone buzzes with a Text. “This is Johann Chu please add me to contacts.”

Lancelot just closes his eyes momentarily and goes back to helping with the booth. “You haven’t had your orientation. Do you need me to help you with it? I’m busy in meetings so I won’t be able to meet you until 10 pm tonight. Is that alright?”

A. “Oh that’s not necessary.”

B. “Sure!”

C. “That’s a bit late... let me think about it and text you back.”

“Alchemy... a fascinating... if dangerous practice. It’s said that those who understand Alchemy to the limit are those who can predict the future because they see the world through a different lens.” Johann Chu muses. “It seems like uncanny prediction, because the conclusions they draw are not of a human understanding. I’m not a student of Alchemy myself... But I have a friend who is. I can introduce you to him.”

A. “Thanks a lot. Who’s your friend?”

C. “Sounds awesome. I’d love to be able to predict the future.”

Johann Chu stood silent for a moment and then smiled faintly. “Welcome to Lionheart. You should choose a major soon as classes start tomorrow.”

You shake his hand firmly.

A. How did you know I didn’t have a major?

C. I’m thinking of going into Alchemy.

You return to the Lionheart Booth and find that the disciplinary committee is interviewing people to see what happened. People were being carted out by stretcher by medical personnel, completely unconscious, snoring quietly in the deepest sleep. As you approach the Lionheart booth, you’re met with Lancelot who was talking to a familiar looking man.

He had dark hair that stuck out in all directions. His face was cold and serious, but it was smooth and pale and boyish. His eyes were black, but you understood that to be a false color. You knew how gold they actually were.

“Oh there she is.” Lancelot said, turning to you. “Well, done.”

Johann Chu turned and looked at you, in a long trench coat and jeans and combat boots. That sword of his was covered in a cloth case strapped to his back. He doesn’t say anything, he just stares at you not walking up to you, but not looking away either. His eyes were intent as though memorizing every inch of your face. Who knew what he was thinking or what conclusions he was drawing in his head.

Finally, he walked up to you until he was standing so close, he could blot out the sun. “I’m Chu Zihang. You can call me Johann.”

Lancelot winces internally and closes his eyes, putting his hand over his face.

You walk to the center of the Pavilion and just discreetly drop the vial from your purse and walk out as though you were on your way to somewhere else. After a second or two, a blue colored gas starts to spread. A few people start to feel dizzy and then one by one they start dropping to the ground.

“Sleeping gas! It’s sleeping gas!”

“It’s the Lionheart counter attack!”

“Did anyone see who dropped that?”

But they were too busy on their phones and no one noticed that you were even there.

The Student Union was set under a large columned pavilion. Everyone here was dripping with jewelry and large watches. It was clear that here, money spoke louder than anything else.

But they had set up a massive trebuchet to launch the balloons as well as a drone to catch the footage of the aftermath. Already they were staring at their phones and giggling.

People were distracted. You weren’t sure how close you could get to the booth without standing out. Do you…

Lancelot barks out a laugh. “Well, well.  For once, someone who isn’t eager to please to the point of self-sacrifice. Point one for the newbie. The truth is, no one knows you and no one knows you’re Lionheart. So you’re the best one for the job. You can get in and get out with minimal attention from the disciplinary committee. Johann Chu is the leader and he wants to fight against Student Union as much as all of us, but he’s hesitant about getting bad marks with Professor Manstein. If you pull this off without getting caught. He’ll appreciate you all the more.”

“But to sweeten the pot, how about I’ll give you $500. Hm?”

Lancelot’s gorgeous blue eyes were absolutely menacing. 

He reaches into his pocket and holds out a vial of blue liquid. “Don’t worry about what this is. Just drop it on the ground next to the Student Union booth and walk away…. discreetly of course.” He hands it to you.

Lionheart members are handing out towels and warm drinks to their soaked recruits and trying to get their audio-visual equipment back online. Meanwhile, you were on a mission!

Lancelot turns greet the next student and you’re left to fill out the form.

As you do so, suddenly there’s a loud shrill cry of “INCOMIIIIING!” And a volley of brightly colored balloons come sailing through the air, thrown from a great distance! There’s no way balloons could be thrown that far if they were filled with air, they must be filled with…

Water!

The entire Lionheart recruitment booth is thrown into chaos as a hail of 50 water balloons crash and splash all over the new recruits, the paperwork and the electrical equipment, shorting it out.

Someone yells on a bullhorn. “Courtesy of the Student Union! If some of you confused newbies got lost, the booth is further down!”

Fortunately, you had moved right out of range of the splashing, but Lancelot wasn’t so lucky being in the middle of the splash zone! Despite that, his reflexes were surprisingly keen and he leaped out of the way, dragging another female student with him.

“Every year!” Lancelot snarls with disgust. “Hey newbie.” Lancelot is looking at you! “If you want to stand out on your first day, how about we get some good old fashioned revenge on Student Union?”

A. I think I’ll pass.

You see a handsome preppy young man in the Lionheart signature green jacket with the dragon seal on the lapel. “Welcome. My name is Lancelot and I handle recruitment. We’d be glad to have you on board uh…” He flipped through his roster of freshmen looking for your picture. He blanks a moment and keeps looking but then he says, “Ah there you are. (your name). Thank you for your interest in Lionheart. It says here you’re A-ranked, with the Soul Skill ‘Scorch..’ Nice! So is mine.”

He put down the paper. “Registration is quite simple. I just want to ask you a few questions. What’s your goal here?”

A. I want to learn all I can.

B. I want to slay Dragons.

C. I want to date Johann Chu.

You head straight for the Lionheart booth. There’s a bit of a line. But the Lionheart Booth is full of dramatic scenes of the clubs accomplishments. A video is playing explaining everything complete with CG renderings of people slaying Dragons while a voiceover plays.

“The Lionheart Society is the oldest club. It was first established by Maneke Cassell in 1901, of whom Cassell College bears his name, it has always been a bastion of the most elite of Dragonslayers. Hilbert Ron Anjou is the last surviving member of the original Lionheart Society and carries on this mission through Cassell College.”

“The first members of the Society were slain by a dragon, and it’s the commitment of Lionheart to carry out Cassell’s mission to eliminate all dragons!”

“We only accept the strongest and the most fiercest of students who are prepared to stop at nothing to achieve this goal! Join us and become a true dragonslayer!”

You start to feel very, very strange but then you’re standing in the middle of a college campus. You’re wearing a white skirt, a vest and some pretty heels. You’re carrying a backpack.

Students are rushing around you. There’s a banner advertising Student Club Association Day! Booths are set up to advertise different associations and clubs. You’ve played this game before so you know that Caesar runs Student Union and Johann Chu runs the Lionheart Society.

But there seems to be a lot more booths then that. There are booths for dance teams, sports, and the arts.
