All outfit variants for TSL are now completed! It took me a while to figure out something I was happy with for Thasar, but we got there in the end.
I also fixed up some odd ends with the achievements screen code, finished a CG for Aias, and made good progress on the walkthrough.
Along with the release of Firelight, it's been a productive two weeks!
Next up is continuing to whittle away at the backgrounds (and CGs…… gosh there's so many of them. Chapter 1 had 3 CGs; Chapter 2 has 8!)

Infinite Blue - May 2024 Update
Hello everyone, we're at an interesting point in development where the art assets are nearly done, and all of the scripts are wrapping up. This means a focus is being put on the final stretch of finishing the game. They say that the last 10% of any work takes 90% of the time, and I think we'll find that to be true! On to the update...
ARTWORK
The CGs are nearly complete!! Currently waiting on Rory's second half of illustrations. Here's a peek at a couple of them.

WRITING
Leo's route has been sent out for programming, and Milo's is scheduled to be done this month. It's a huge relief getting these finished one by one.

VOICE ACTING
We have a plan in place for voice acting! As each route is mostly programmed in, we'll be going over the writing and phone calls in-game to make sure the script is where we want it to be. After that, we'll send out scripts to the voice actors of that particular route, rather than recruiting all of the VAs at the same time. The first scripts will be sent hopefully this month for Tobias's route.
PROGRAMMING
We've brought on a new programmer to handle the backend for the game. Particularly since it's a mobile game that will have a currency system, it'll be important to have a database to protect player's information and to keep the game safe from attacks and game manipulation.
PATREON
We've had 'Fae Alexei' and 'LoFi City Rory' illustrations done over on Patreon, as well as free respective headcanons found HERE.

May 2024 Monthly Forecast
I wrote 2025 twice. Bro, am I that over 2024? It's like 2020 happened and it just has not gotten any better.
I'm attacking this with the same energy as I did the patreon forecast. With my eye twitching, stomach growling, and the overwhelming need to grab my blanket and question why anyone ever decides to leave bed.
Alright, moving on. Fuck! My eye is really tweakin' right now.
Superstition
Don't copy and paste what you said on Patreon over here, be spontaneous.
Let's see. The entire *stares off into distance to try and focus* ... ... ... epi ... I'm writing what my brain is going through, you're welcome. I'm not about that "just get to the point" bullshit. We don't do that here. Still trying to come up with that word ... um ... season. There we go. The entire season won't be uploaded until it's complete BUT I will be updating the actual Superstition S1 link that can be found on itch.io as otherwise I have to make an entire link just for testing and no. So, if you want to help out or just read the updates cos of impatience then there you go.
The Prologue + Episode One will be out this week with hopefully Episode 2 close behind.
Throne of Ashes
I worked on ... is this text bigger than it should be or am I really in need of sleep ... Um, I worked on Nour a bit as well as Ozara. You'll be seeing the demo updated this month, period. Again, that update will be Nour's tweaked and either Ozara won't be changed because Patreon voted against it or it will literally be a different story cos Patreon okayed the story shift. I like to run a democracy, until it makes me mad and then it turns into a dictatorship.
These M&M's are my dinner. I am not a healthy person. Fuck I didn't even drink water today but had like two giant cups of sweet tea ... this is why my eye is messing with me. Too much sugar. Omfg, it really is too much sugar ... oops.

Devlog # 138
Hi-ho, Wudge here.
I'll be real, lately I've been struggling hardcore when it comes to design. Mia's hero outfit is giving me an honest to goodness run for my money; I try and try and yet each edition of her outfit doesn't feel quire right. It's not just the feeling that they're 'not good enough,' they also don't quite feel like her. And each time I try to take a new stab at it makes me feel all the more crazy for the effort -- something something expecting different results.
I keep trying to convince myself that it was much easier back when I started Herotome -- particularly Warden's hero costume, his big blue gimp suit just sprang into existence like shablamn!
But... I have to remind myself that it did take a while to put together Jade's and Dart's hero outfits. Hell, I wasn't entirely satisfied with Jade's even when I called it done. And another thing - as my mom pointed out when I complained to her about this lol - having created previous designs does make it more challenging to create new-and-different designs.
...With all this being said, here's where she's at:

These designs build off my established concepts of - she has to armor up due to how the nature of her powers will get her into scrapes, but she also wants to look cute. This led me to... essentially putting her in a maid cafe outfit and medieval plate mail. Mia is not a fantasy/JRPG girlie at all though, so ultimately this design isn't going to work.

And here, blurred out bc I'm still working on it, is my next take. I looked at how characters like Wonder Woman and Iron Man wore armor that had a very modern look, and I also... uh, looked at some crabs. Like, crustaceans. The ones in the ocean. They are truly beautiful creatures and I tried to take some color schemes from them. This led to a very, very red design with... what looks like a glowing petticoat? ;;; I worry that this would elicit a look of fire, and while Mia has a fiery personality she doesn't exactly have fire superpowers... so I'll keep at it. I at least like it more than the medieval jrpg maid though.

This one has a weird uncanny resemblance to the chick from hotel transylvania.
... Honestly uh, I've also been struggling with Griffin's sprite art here. I've done a lot more work for her (that I have not shared in this post) that just doesn't feel quite right. But I'll keep doing my best.

Happy first of May! It is the month... of extended demo liberation... possibly lol
So far we've gotten a lot of people in our inbox looking forward to the release of the extended demo and the team and I are beyond excited to see the enthusiasm! It's seriously what's getting us through most of the laborious tasks, and as such we want to make sure it's as polished as it can be for all of you!
That being said-- it's safe to assume this demo's not releasing in the next two weeks. Sorry to dash any hopefuls out there! But you guys will get a more formal announcement with a date for the demo's release before we upload it on our page.
While we work toward that day though we'll keep feeding y'all any previews andddd teasers that we've got planned. Hehe I'm especially looking forward to showing y'all the first wave of them.

Happy April (pretend I'm not late on this devlog)!!
April flew by in the blink of an eye. It's been a really busy month for me personally--I'm not sure about you all!
This devlog is going to be structured differently from the past devlogs for two reasons: 1) my concussion is lowkey kicking my ass and 2) I had a release going on almost every week this month because I am a Crazy Person HA!!!!
This month was filled with some kind of release every weekend, which is equal parts exciting and exhausting. Because releases always take a lot out of me, I basically spent every day this month cycling between phases of post-release euphoria, post-release depression, pre-release excitement, recovery burnout, burnout guilt, and just about every emotion in between.
THEN!! I got into an accident about a week ago and have been throwing hands with the resulting concussion since. So it's basically been a crazy month in the Crescence world.
That being said, let's run through the month in chronological order, and every weekend release :crazy eyes & hysterical laughter:
Kayn's Beta Route Out Now!

Kayn's Beta Route has been Finished!
In Extremely Exciting news, Kayn's beta route was finished during the first weekend of this month! I had put off publicly announcing it because I didn't want to clash with the demo release. But it was released quietly to patrons and beta-testers. Feedback so far has been very kind, and if you'd like to get access to Kayn's beta route, you can play it with the Hydra ($10) tier on my Patreon ^^
I will publicly announce the route sometime later. But for now, for those who bother reading my devlogs, here is a treat!
Enhanced Demo Release

Bro we fucking did it
Second weekend of April, we released the ENHANCED DEMO OFFICIALLY!!!! It was so exciting (and nerve-wracking) to be able to finally get this out to the public. Reception has been so nice, and it's been rewarding to see people finally be able to play the enhanced demo and see what I've been working so very hard on these past couple of months. I'm really glad you all liked it and appreciated all the details that I've painstakingly polished <3
I mentioned it before but I was really nervous for the release---I had no idea how it would go. But as always, I could not be more appreciative of the support you all give to little old me. Thank you, and I hope you all like the taste of what is to come in the Alaris world!

Yes, I did help make a game in 36 hours.
Adding to the madness, I got sucked into this game jam by beloved and crazy @shewassaying. You have to make a game in 36 hours. It was a crazy whirlwind of an experience, but with people I always love being with. We finished a beautiful fantasy game if anyone would like to check it out!

Finally, to round out the marathon, I created the GUI for this beautiful little game that was submitted to Amare Fest (which you should check out, since a lot of other cool games were submitted!). I had the opportunity to work with some extremely talented devs (@steamberrystudio, @jeneara, @windchimesgames, @tuffmallowinteractive, and feniks of OL fame), some of which are like titans in the VN community to me ;_;
The game is an enchanting, short little story (and FREE!) about a Fae. Something I know many of us are suckers for nyeheh. Please feel free to check it out here

And that's about it for this month! As you can see..... it was very much a back-to-back month. Because of that, I'm trying to use right now as a break (everyone thank my concussion for forcing me to take a break, yippee!).
Some other things that I want to highlight this month:
We released an official trailer for Alaris. She's stunning, and if you haven't seen it yet...... well, what are you waiting for....

Anyways, that rounds out this month and a bunch of exciting news! I know it can be overwhelming to look at. Per usual, I never expect anyone to play every single game I am involved with. But if any of them catch your eye, I encourage you to check them out since many of the people I work with are very talented and you never know what new devs/games you'll get introduced to as a result!
