im sorry for calling the admin aphobic when they are in fact, ace. in the past i’ve seen “no ace discourse” on blogs used as another way of saying “i think ace people are fake but i dont want hate” but i see now (and can fully understand) why it would also mean “im fucking sick and tired of hearing about this so dont ask me about it”. were other ppl in the server saying some shit that was pretty aphobic? yeah. but calling the admin aphobic was a misunderstanding on my part that i blew way out of proportion and im sorry for it.

hey yall i can’t promise this is gonna be updated a whole lot or like, at all anymore, but now that im no longer burned out by discourse overload i just wanna say thank you all so much for the love. i’m glad i could help some of you who have been harassed by antis and to be honest i never expected to get this much attention over this but now im almost glad i did this now (almost)

hxh or die was (understandably) pretty spooked by this blog and ended up making their group private for tumblr mutuals and friends only a la fansafe hxh (ah the irony) and as far as i know they’re still on their bullshit, but tbh i got a surprising lack of hate for this blog. maybe its bcos anon is off or smthn but i’ve only gotten like 3 hate messages and they were all within the day this blog became public.

idk where im going with this but uhhh im probably gonna keep this blog as is with the occasional update if something big happens since i didnt tag my hxh or die posts properly and i still want ppl to be able to read them all without scrolling too much.

Final Thoughts

while its easy to write off the behavior i saw in this group theres a lot of things i’ve learned about anti culture as a whole, and while im no sociologist i do have one theory as to why there’s been a surge in anti culture within the past couple of years.

antis, especially young antis, have been disappointed by adults for as long as they can remember

while this group had its fair share of adults (from like 18-22 so college age tbh) the general age range of its active members was about 13-17 which means a lot of them were very young when our political climate took a turn for the worse, which means their ideas on the world started forming at a time when they had to learn that what you hear on the news and from adults was a lie. i know when i was in high school, where the r slur was thrown around constantly, and lgbt people were automatic outcasts, tumblr was like heaven. and when tumblr is your only outlet for both fandom and lgbt info, its really easy to be sucked into the mindset that’s around you, and when you’re as young as these people are its easy to follow this mindset blindly without stopping to question it.

as we’ve seen in the past, telling antis off wont get them to stop. if anything it’ll only fan the flames. so here’s a couple suggestions from someone whos dealt with this mindset practically all her life:

question everything you see online (especially those politically charged posts).

if you’re reading this i beg of you to please do a 10 second google search and look through a couple articles to see what people are saying outside of tumblr. its amazing how warped information can get when you live in a fishbowl.

dont interact with antis

dont respond to their asks or their replies and if you see a post made by an anti dont respond to it. dont like or reblog their funny posts and try and check your sources if you can (antis are rlly easy to spot nowadays). i know that must sound rich coming from the person who made a whole ass blog about what they do in an echo chamber of a server but antis live off of drama. if we dont give them a platform, their mindset cant grow. i dont know about you but i dont wanna live on a puritan site and get yelled at for talking about villains.
