Looking at this I can't stop thinking about how now they're going to live day by day, enjoying a peaceful life full of love and laughter in their little slice of heaven, and one of those days Hunter will be hit with a realization that he doesn't have to kneel to be on Omega's eye level anymore. And his back will creak when she falls asleep under that tree and he'll pick her up to carry her to bed. Another day he'll notice she's too tall to be seamlessly tucked under his chin. And she'll show up to breakfast one morning with his bandana in her hair because it got long enough. One of those days she'll become too tall, too big, too old to be carried around but it won't stop her from jumping onto Wrecker's back. People will turn around when she walks by and it will dawn on him that it's because of her beauty. She'll pick up a knife and twirl it between her fingers as smoothly as he used to do and she won't even think about it much but he'll be replaying it in his head for days.

And one day he'll hear the words he's been secretly dreading for over a decade. She'll get her own ship. Get in touch with some old friends, maybe find some new ones. She'll tell him that she's ready, then hug him just like she used to do when she was a little girl. And it will break his heart into a million pieces but he'll watch with a smile as she flies to the sky, ready for her next adventure. And he'll know that he raised her right.

Hunter and Crosshair wait until Omega ends the hug. They don’t pull away first.

Now Hunter is used to Omega’s hugs and eagerly accepts them, but Crosshair isn’t a hugger. But even he waits and continues to hold her until she pulls away first.

They wait until she is ready to let go.

Crosshair doubted himself when it came to firing the shot at Omega and Hemlock's cuffs. He was not willing to risk hurting Omega with a blast from his own weapon.

Crosshair, who at the start of the TBB arc in Clone Wars season 7 would have reveled in the complexity of his shooting skills, who could shoot a flea of Wrecker's back in the rain without hurting him, who was engineered to be the perfect sniper, was not willing to risk his blast being off and hurting someone he loves. Crosshair reached a point where, when it comes to his little sister, he wouldn't be cocky or arrogant. And besides, his shooting hand was gone. The hand that had caused him so many tremors but with which he'd also landed every shot he could be proud of...

And it was Hunter who encouraged him. Hunter, whose relationship with Crosshair faltered and strained and recovered, placed his full trust on Crosshair even when it came to Omega. Hunter, perhaps the only one who could rival Crosshair's concern for the kid, had no shadow of a doubt that his brother could make the shot without hurting her.

And so, Crosshair shot the binders perfectly, freeing Omega and allowing the three of them to destroy any threat to the clones, physically and metaphorically. Crosshair, Hunter, and Omega freed the clones, and they did it together.

They freed the clones through their love and trust in each other as a family, and I can't think of a more perfect, beautiful way for them to have done this. The clones are family. Loyalty means everything to the clones.

You know something i haven't seen a lot of people talking about? Hunter's screams. That shit was so unnerving. Hearing his voice break, his strangled, choked cries of pain??? No wonder Crosshair was traumatised if that was the conditioning. Shit was nasty.

I know a lot of people who were Tech fans are in pain right now, and one thing I want to say is, you were not wrong, to invest in this character as you did--be that emotionally, creatively, by participating in fandom. Nor were you wrong to want him back, nor was it an unreasonable read of the marketing and S3 text.

It's not what we got, but don't let your grief convince you there was something 'wrong' in the time and effort you put into him and his story, whatever version you engaged with, nor in how you perceived it. If he brought you joy, then he did. If hoping he would come back kept you going, introduced you to new people and fan creations that bolstered you, helped you connect with friends, then that all still happened.

The canon's path can't dim any of that. It has no power of those things. I look at all my gorgeous commissions, at the Legos I've built and the fics I've written, and at everyone else's cosplays and fics and art, and I think, these are still beautiful. They're still here, they still happened, they're real. They're the story I know and care about.

Tech is a character from a story, and a story isn't finished or over if you keep telling it in whatever way you have to tell. So keep creating for him, and taking in others creations, keep your conversations and friendships alive. That's how he remains alive and with us.

So like imagine that "Echo checks his messages" thing but it's Rebel Omega scrolling through endless worried messages from them while she's out saving the day. Like after a New Hope she gets one like "WERE YOU AT THAT DEATH STAR EXPLOSION!? MSG ME BACK!"

i'm 99% sure that adult Omega is taller than Hunter hgfdfghjklkjhg this is everything i wanted!!

bc i've been wondering if, as an 'unaltered' clone, she would reach the standard clone height of 6 feet. and Hunter is still officially listed at 5'11'' . maybe he's stooping a bit idk but i think she's legitimately got than inch on him!! idk i just think it's super cute ☺️

p.s. another reason we needed to see old men Crosshair and Wrecker -- to see how much closer in height she is to them now!!
