How he follows Vic like a guardian, swore to keep him alive, even when Vic was deliberately tweaking with his nerves to keep him away, he still kept close. Keeping “ his eyes on the breakable things in life . “ Became the mc’s companion knowing fully what that meant, knowing how Victor isn’t a good person. Simply knowing what he might be thinking or having a sixth sense when somethings up, especially when Victor kept dying over and over. Even the small things, like baking Sydney a birthday cake and making sure Victor at least has something to drink despite not being hungry. That desipite everything that happened in his life he tried his best with the found family he had, and never showed anger towards Sydney. Taught her valuable lessons. Stood up to Victor and was the balm to his rage and one of his tethers to any humanity he had left. He’s the real Angel of the story.

Reaper is everything.

The respect he had for the other tributes. The grave he made for the fallen tributes. He was completely exposed and could have been killed by anyone, but recognizing those kids and respecting them the way they deserve was more important to him. The way he tore down the symbol of the government that was supposed to protect them, and used it to cover the bodies of the kids it failed so badly. His calm demeanor. The love he had for his sick and fragile district partner. The love he had for Wovey. The way he protected those gentle souls the best he could. He didn't even try to fight. He knew he wasn't going to kill any of these kids. He's the original revolution. He wasn't going to play the capitol's games. He didn't let them turn him into something he's not. He is everything good.

since seeing ballad of songbirds and snakes, i have not been able to stop thinking about the “old therebefore” scene… the sheer emotion in lucy gray’s voice, her refusal to let her fear show, the way she thought she was going to die right there and yet she just kept on singing. i seriously tear up every time it comes to mind. there was so much power in that scene, so much power in her refusal to let the capitol take away who she was, and that in itself was an act of defiance. rachel zegler will forever be famous for how beautiful and perfect her portrayal of lucy gray was and any tongue that dares to speak against her shall fall.
