the thing about having a dead parent is like. idk where to fit in a lot of places. and that comes up a lot when people are like “oh are you a first generation college student” because technically no i’m not. my dad went to college, and i think he had his masters, too. except he died three years ago before i even started considering college so all of my college journey has been myself and my mum who didn’t go to college. so i’m not exactly comfortable being like “yeah i’m a first generation student” because i only am on my mum’s side but also talking to friends who had their parents go to college is also like “oh. ok. so you just have that guidance and didn’t have to figure that out yourself”

#ive had friends try to relate to me on this and it’s like. yeah we’re all figuring things out but y’all can ask your parents about stuff! #you have help from people who have navigated that college process! #i can ask my dad’s side of the family but that always ends up feeling kind of weird and awkward and while they do care about me #i’m not their kid #but i end up relating to a lot of people who are first generation college students. like one of my close friends is and we’re both seeing #that it makes such a difference when other kids have parents who have been to college and are with them through the college process #we were talking with another person who was like ‘yeah i get it my dad was a first generation student’ like! ok! not the same #he still went to college and is there to help you figure things out. my friend and i have to do it ourselves. It’s Very Different

every time my mum encounters a pregnant person i get the weirdest fucking texts. “[supervisor] is ready . I expect her to deliver this week” what the fuck. why did she type it like that. the thing is though that my mum will probably be either right or super close. she’s like some oracle of childbirth

my mum (very social) (former midwife) is going to an event run by the wildlife rehab i work at. all my supervisors will be there. including one who is very pregnant. i currently live in fear

#the scariest thing is when we see someone in public we haven’t seen for a while and my mum asks them if they’re pregnant #she’s always been right but every time for a few seconds I live in fear. PLEASE specify you a midwife #i went ‘oh did the baby drop?’ and my mum went ‘not quite but [supervisor] just looks super tired’ so i am slightly doubtful #i love this supervisor but she always looks like she hasn’t slept in weeks. it’s kinda her thing

This is going to be short bc i already have a post up explaining this situation, but I started having seizures, which led to medical costs I couldn't handle bc I have an autoimmune disorder that's been going untreated for years. I got the appts covered bc of an extremely generous friend on here, and had some additional medication costs which I thankfully had enough for. I've been applying to at least 10 jobs a day and had tons of interviews. I'm going through interviews and assessments for several jobs (got more scheduled for tomorrow) Then my card got stolen, and now I am screwed as far as rent goes, even if one of these jobs comes through like today we will still fall short because rent is due on the 1st and we don't get a grace period. I am trying to get the money that was taken when my card was stolen back, but I have been told to wait to hear back after submitting all the details, and have yet to hear back.

Dm me for proof or more details. I will do art for anyone who helps with this and you can commission me at my art blog @theartistrans I just desperately need to get rent. My roommates and I have a huge food garden planted and are working towards self-sufficiency, which we have no hope of if we can't pay rent.

speaking of the rehab i work at, i’m also waiting to hear back on if i got into a medical internship there. i asked one of my supervisors yesterday and he said he doesn’t know when results come out, but he’s heard that i’m apparently a top contender. i am very much hoping that’s true

#I WANT THIS SO BAD #i assisted* on two heart sticks yesterday and a lot of people love the husbandry and animal interaction more but personally i enjoy the #medical aspects of rehab far more. not that I dislike husbandry but i far prefer medical stuff #like because i used to work at a different rehab who let me help on some exams i can now id some broken bones by sight/touch in songbirds #*the assisting was holding the anesthesia mask on the animal. it was more lending a spare hand. but assisting sounds cooler #wildlife rehab adventures
