genshin boys as your kdrama love interest.
featuring diluc, kaeya, zhongli, childe
Tumblr media
diluc, a man who seemed nothing short of perfect, was the man you’d convinced yourself into loving. he’s as good as it gets; takes you out on romantic dates, dedicates himself wholeheartedly to you, and never fails to remind you just how much you mean to him. four years later, and his love hasn’t faltered.
but his love doesn’t spark a burning want within you, and you rarely find yourself yearning for it. your heart has faltered, unlike his.
kaeya was always one breath away, one minute too late, one step behind his brother. one too many bouquets discarded into the trash, and too many times the phrase, “i love you,” lay at the tip of his tongue. he wonders once upon a sleepless night, that if he’d acted quicker, would he be the one to hold your heart?
it’s an awfully selfish thought, and the guilt eats away at him slowly— he’s aware. he doesn’t mind hurting if it means that his brother is happy.
zhongli was a naive, first love of yours— well, as deep as love could get in a relationship that felt mostly one sided. it seemed that he was always too busy for you, or too tired from a long day’s worth of work. you poured your heart into a relationship, only to receive the remnants of a broken one.
it was quite foolish of you, in hindsight, to think that he was the one. but you’re quite thankful that it ended the way it did.
childe’s presence was one you long grew to be familiar with, and one you often found comfort in. the longing and lingering gazes that made you burn, the tender touches that he trailed across your hands, and the way his warmth seeped against yours as he wrapped you in a tight embrace; you’re sure that that’s what home is for you.
but the reality is, the glimmering ring on your finger doesn’t symbolize a love between you. only the fact that it’ll never be between you two.

“i thought i’d catch you here,” you whisper softly from behind venti, shuffling awkwardly on your feet as you think of what to say next. the silence was awkward between the two of you, uncomfortable even, as venti continued to idly swing on the wooden plank. a part of you wondered if he didn’t hear you, but venti hums a small sound of acknowledgement as his swinging comes to a stop. “mind if i sit next to you? i just need to get a few things off my mind before i go back home.”
he thinks for a second— he knows he should say no and walk away, and yet an oddly self-torturous part of him wants to say yes. and so he does, almost unabashedly fast. “you know that i’m always here to listen,” venti pats the swing beside his own, motioning for you to sit down as well. “always.”
you bite your lip as you take one hesitant step forward, and another, and you finally place yourself next to him. there’s a little bit of shame that swirls within you, because you know deep down that it’s wrong for you to use him like this, but you just can’t help it. he was always there, always available, always so understanding of your problems.
“you probably already know what this is about,” you finally say, pushing your foot against the ground as you start to swing a little. from the corner of your eyes, it’s hard to ignore the way his hands grip onto the swing handles just a little tighter, or the way his jaw clenches noticeably. “right?”
“yeah,” he mutters, willing himself to put up with it. “my ears are all open.”
because he keeps thinking that he’ll be alright— that he can push down years worth of feelings into the back of his mind at the snap of a finger. but then you smile at him; that annoyingly pretty smile, the one that reaches to the corner of your eyes, and pulls him under your gravity once again. and just as he thinks he made progress, he’s back to square one. hopelessly, foolishly, chasing for a love that was never there.
one last time, he thinks.

# DAY 7 — NISHIMURA RIKI + FLOWERS.

— genre : fluff, romance, mutual pining, childhood friends to [hinted] lovers
— warnings : none !
— word count : 2.1k
— tag : @iovchlde <3
Tumblr media
“... Turns out Sunoo can’t come, either.” An awkward silence was shared between you and Riki as both of you were surrounded by the empty field all eight of you were supposed to meet up at. You rocked back and forth on your feet as Ni-ki put his cell phone back into the back of his pocket with hesitation, folding his fingers together nervously.
Today was everything Heeseung forecasted it would be—clear skies, blooming fields, empty areas—exclusively for you and the others. After being cooped up from a long winter’s hibernation from the outside, today was supposed to be the day you’d finally feel freedom and have a taste of the outside after being inside for so long.
It was Jake’s plan to meet up at their favorite place, the meadow each of you grew up in together, from youth until now. You were the first one to hop on board, wanting to spend some time with your favorites for the spring, early summer. Everyone had jumped in right after you, save for one individual within the group.
Riki didn’t have anything against going out, but it took much, much persuasion to get him to come outside of his house. Jay and Jungwon purposely went to his house to personally beg him to come join everyone on the planned date—at that point, he was almost too afraid to back out from such desperation.
“This is… odd.” You checked your phone once more, eyeing the messages that were sent to you between fifteen minute intervals. Heeseung rambling about family issues that needed to be taken care of as soon as possible today, Jungwon somehow forgetting he had an important taekwondo event today, and Jake being out of town to… what again? He didn’t even give a reason, just that he’d be out of town. “And the other three decided to text you, Riki?”
“From what I see, yeah.” As you were scrolling through texts, he took his phone back out and did the same, reading each excuse as they came along. “Sunghoon has something to do with his sister, Sunoo has cousins he needs to entertain today, and Jay has a fever.” Both of you slowly shared a strange look of suspicion, silence taken by the spring breeze as you stood next to Riki, confused and unsure of how to proceed with such a predicament.
“Surely this couldn’t be coincidence.” You stared out at the meadow beyond where the two of you stood, just at the entrance of the rendezvous point. “Do you think they’re—” There was a pause amidst your words, noticing how Ni-ki happened to fall silent. “Riki?”
You almost reached out to touch his shoulder, confused but wanting to comfort him as his eyes widened in thought. A plethora of conclusions were running rampantly through his head as you tried catching his attention, his hands nervously rummaging in his pockets to fidget in place. There was a feeling kicking him in the stomach as he connected the dots one by one.
God, they did this on purpose, didn’t they?
He should’ve known from the way Heeseung teased him about getting alone time with you—or how Sunoo pushed him to make more of an effort to make plans for just the two of you. He never wanted to—why should he? Both you and him were content with the others joining for company; not to mention, how he was either way too lazy or nervous to do anything of the sort. The more he thought about it, it could possibly be both.
He should’ve known they’d eventually take matters into their own hands.
But knowing you since the both of you were waddling around in boogers and diapers—there was no way you thought of him in any other light than just another germ, a sibling you could get along with depending on the day. You never really did acknowledge how the two of you had grown since your younger days—then again, there really was no reason to—but at least give him credit for how tall he’s grown, or how his dancing has improved since starting as a young boy.
You resorted to shaking him gently, taking him by the shoulder with pursed lips as Riki stared at you with questionable eyes, his mouth shut but a look so foreign written in his irises that you retracted any question you were going to ask him. You didn’t know if you should be weirded out by the situation—Riki had been silent for about five minutes at this rate, which was strange for someone like him. You had your doubts if he really wanted to be here or not; honestly, the thought of him leaving you alone here for the rest of the day left a pain in your chest.
“Anyways…” He started slowly, straightening his posture in an attempt to relieve the situation, “What do we do now?”
“Truth be told, I don’t know.” You sat down right where you were, the blades of grass cool against your legs. “Even with the others not here, I’d like to stay here for a bit. You’ll stay with me for a while, won’t you, Riki?”
There it was again. That look of wonder you held in your eyes that kept him hooked, all the way from way back when. Riki swallowed a nervous lump in his throat—when had he begun to act so bashful around you, anyway?and shrugged, struggling to remain nonchalant. “I don’t really have anything to do today,” He replied with a huff, pulling you up to your feet quickly. You whined and protested, but he ignored it. You were forced to brush the blades that stuck to your clothing. “But we’re not staying here, that’d be stupid. Let’s just go to that tree and just… I don’t know… what do we even do when we come here?”
“We usually play games, but I don’t think manhunt nor water gun fights would be very fun to do with just the two of us.” Not before long, both of you walked at a leisure pace, down the trail of the meadow the two of you memorized like the back of your hand. “Unless you have anything to ramble about for hours, I’d like to just take in some of the spring season before we go back home. Then we can play video games at your place.”
Though he’d never say it out loud, Riki enjoyed how peaceful the walk was, praying that the long trail would extend far longer than usual, for him to savor every moment he had with you. “Yeah,” He mumbled absentmindedly, “that sounds like a plan. Let’s just—”
“Wait, look over there.” You pointed ahead, at the flowers that were laid out in front of the two of you, in a straight line that led… directly to the tree. “There’s all sorts of flowers thrown about, but that’s weird.” You noticed a single daisy at your feet; instinctively, you bent down to pick it up and held it delicately in your hands. “Flowers usually don’t grow here, do they? It’s usually just long grass and weeds. I’ve never actually seen flowers grow here.”
Riki knew just as well as you did that the only way for flowers to appear in front of you was if they were manually placed before your arrival. He clicked his tongue and sighed, feeling his palms grow sweaty as he soon realized what was happening. Were you aware? Did you know about this?
“Riki, come collect these flowers with me.” You sped ahead of him, leaning down to collect each flower, one by one. Roses, carnations, tulips, dandelions… piles were plentiful with each step. “Who do you think put these down?”
“I think I have a theory,” He muttered, hesitating for a few moments before picking a single rose from the ground, his cheeks feeling warm as he watched you approach him, a smile on your face and a bright bouquet in your hands.
“Maybe there are more flowers at the tree. Let’s go faster!”
“Wait, Y/N—”
His efforts were futile, having no choice but to keep up at your pace as you sped towards the tree in a light jog, stopping every few steps to collect the flowers that were thrown about the trail. It wasn’t that he couldn’t keep up with you—he was just afraid of what he would see at the end of the trail, and for what could possibly await him at the destination.
His heart thumped in his chest as he saw the poorly laid out blanket underneath the tree—he could recognize it was Jay’s—a whole bouquet of different assortments of flowers awaiting you to fetch them. He scoffed under his breath, biting the side of his cheek nervously. He couldn’t even begin to imagine just how much planning it took for this to succeed. Whether he should thank them for their insanity or not was another debate he’d have to face eventually.
The main issue at hand was watching you slowly approach the foreign setting, taking delicate steps towards the blanket with much hesitation and delay in your steps. Riki was too afraid to follow, watching with weary eyes as you knelt down, reaching over to add the large bouquet of flowers to the handful you had picked up on your way there. Your back was towards him—you were unable to see the flash of panic in his eyes as you stood back up, turning towards him with a look on your face he had never seen before.
You were far from an idiot. Surely you knew what was going on?
“You think the others did this for us?” His face lit up when he watched your lips curl into a smile. “That would explain their really crappy excuses, wouldn’t it?”
Riki let out a flustered laugh as you sat down on the blanket, patting for him to sit down next to you. There was a fluttery feeling in your stomach as he plopped down, his arms hugging his knees and his eyes staring directly into yours. “You figured that part out too?” He questioned, his irises drifting towards the flowers in your hands, before staring back at you.
“Who wouldn’t?” You looked longingly at the bouquet in your hold, staring at the petals as both you and Riki laughed at each excuse. “Sunoo hates watching over his cousins; not to mention, Jungwon? Forgetting taekwondo? You know just as well as I do that he would never forget anything related to that.” You placed the flowers down between the two of you, staring up at Ni-ki in the eyes. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to be picking up on any social cues, but I think they’re trying to set us up, Riki.”
He knew by the way your smile glimmered under the generous beams from the sun, you knew everything that was going through his mind. His heart was threatening to beat out of his chest while he stumbled on his words, not exactly sure how to play it. “That part was probably obvious enough,” He stammered, his eyes darting in all sorts of different directions. Any attempts at concealing the fluster on his cheeks remained futile, hoping that you wouldn’t tease him too hard about it. “I don’t really know what happens from here or how you feel about this all but we can still go back and play video games if you don’t—”
He paused as he watched you laugh at his behavior, closing his mouth and trying to play it cool with a scoff. “I don’t know why you’re laughing,” He muttered, “it’s not that funny.”
“Riki.” After taking a few deep breaths to collect yourself, you sat up and faced him, taking him by his wrists and trying to cover his balled up fists with your palms. He had never seen you look so sincere—especially not like this. “I… don’t think I really need to say anything to acknowledge what’s going on. You would’ve told me if this—” You pointed to the picnic blanket setup, “—whole thing wasn’t anything you were interested in, and I would’ve done the same.” He felt light as you let his hands go, twiddling with your fingers awkwardly. “Maybe I’m the one who’s bad at picking up social cues if it took all of this planning for this moment to finally happen.”
“No—no. I wasn’t in on this,” He quickly intercepted, reaching forward to take your hands this time. “Obviously, we’re both bad at social cues.”
Neither of you had to… say it out loud for the other to understand what was going on, right?
You knew.
He knew.
They knew.
Riki stared down at your hands, covered by his. Both of you shared a blank look before erupting into laughter—even with the embarrassing situation that came about, you were still you, and Riki was still Riki. You felt nothing but comfort in his presence, which was why everything that happened—and anything that awaited the two of you in the future—felt completely natural.
