Because of all the discourse and shit I’m just asking this cuz tbh I don’t rlly feel comfortable following people that like/make a lot of what’s considered ‘proship’ (as mentioned content involving minorsxadults, sexualization of abuse, and such). And I was wondering if it would be cool to ask you if your into any of that. I think people can like/make whatever they want, it’s just a personal deal of I’d like to know upfront and unfollow if so. No hate to you ofc
I think they can be used as story elements to tell a compelling narrative, esp if there is a moral comeuppance or well written revenge / punishment after. trauma exploration is also something I'm always deeply fascinated with bc I've been through some really horrific shit in my life so seeing how other people cope and express it interests me greatly.
you follow my main if you're here. you see the OCS, content and posts I interact with on the daily. everything I create and consume comes through here. judge for yourself if it's made you uncomfortable

Self-shippin and lighthearted stuff like that seems fine to me, but I think the word pro-shipper kinda talks about like incest and pedo behavior more than anything else
and what I'm telling you is that it is not your place to vet the content other people are making to align with what you think is acceptable. no one has any right to tell anyone else what they can and can't make. if it's fictional, then no real life people are being hurt. if you want to prioritize the safety of real life people, then get involved in your community. if it gives you the ick, hit the bricks, it's not anyone else's job to pander to what you're comfortable seeing and it's a BASIC skill to understand any of this.
people have reasons for making the shit they make. your ick dark topic is someone else's exploration of their trauma, or pushing horrible things that happen in real life to their logical extremes, or honestly even just "wouldn't it be fucked up if this happened?" yeah, it would be! but it was entertaining to watch.
the act of creating or ingesting victimless fictional content does not equate to real life violence or morals someone might hold. game of thrones was huge in mainstream media and it's full of incest, rape, murder, etc. how do you with your narrow world view of "okay" content justify that? or the walking dead, or breaking bad? car crash compilations or guro fanart?
sometimes just the act of creating something dark and entertaining is enough. people have been doing this as long as we've been telling stories. get over it.

"proshipper" just means people who are like do whatever the fuck you want in fiction because it doesnt reflect your personal values, right? like. the "anti proshipper" movement came from the same puritanical pearl clutching that has tried to reduce every story to conflict-less therapy sessions between perfect victims? im so fascinated every time i see it bc im like you would have died. you would have thrown up and died if you grew up 10 years earlier. if you saw the fandom landscape Not That Long Ago.
and its frustrating i guess, to an extent. like no, im not personally sniffing out incest or minors and adults or abusive relationship dynamics in media, but that doesnt mean those CANT exist in fictional settings. that doesnt mean its not somebodys outlet, or that there isnt an audience for it, or a moral to be learned, or a warning to be given. and that doesnt mean that the people who DO consume that media would WANT that to happen in real life. someone writing a story with murder isnt a murderer. storytelling is a tool to explore the world, experiences, trauma, and yeah sometimes its going to be really dark material. but its fictional. its not actually hurting anyone. and if you have any critical thinking skills, then its not going to "normalize" it to you either.
again. you watch true crime. but youre not going to turn around and murder someone, are you? you play "violent" video games, but youre not actually going to go out and DO that? because you have common sense? it doesnt make the video game or the story any less interesting because you dont want to replicate it.
some of the most impactful and nuanced stories ive ever read in my life would be book burned in a heartbeat by some of yall and thats so exhausting and BEYOND hypocritical. grow up. if you dont want to see a specific material then you just Dont Read It. its that simple.
you dont have the right to dictate what other people create or consume.

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov is a great example of what you're talking about; it's twisting verbage and abhorrent details are meant to reflect an unreliable and monsterous narrator, and how willing he is to excuse his vile actions by shrouding them in flowery language and blaming the victim. At the end of the day its a book that says pedophiles deserve to go to jail and die.
I would say that the kids need to pay better attention in school but lets be honest usamerican schools don't teach things like literary analysis and critical thinking.
EXACTLY my point. the idea of "anti proshipping" is an evolving set of ambiguous conservative morals to suit whatever makes people feel a little icky in the moment. it's fake and you look stupid trying to uphold a nothing burger that takes away fandom & creative spaces you don't ever have to interact with if you don't want to 🤷‍♂️

just wanted to say i loved your 'i can make him worse' AU and was really excited for more of your take on terumob. it's fascinating and creative AF; i'm sorry that you caught so much shit for it.
it honestly really surprised me bc i havent been involved in a fandom since homestuck died to me so the very stark difference in reception was jarring LOL the culture has changed so much im probably going to go back to making mostly personal content tbh
