Story Time

PSA: Domestic Violence, abuse and language…

When baby ama was 17 she feel in love with a boy. A boy that wasn’t good for her. A boy who didn’t match her. Cheerleader meets drug dealer. Good girl meets bad boy, a tale as old as time.

How cliche.

This boy didn’t love her. Didn’t really like her even. She was a possession. Something to own. All she wanted was to be loved.

Jokes on her.

Soon love came with bruises and other woman. Soon love came with thrown objects, broken glasses. More screaming than conversation. Love became fear for her life.

9 pregnancy tests later.

Trapped.

A smug grin and a “you’re not going anywhere.” Love turned into fear for our lives.

Screaming and arguing turned into crying and pleading.

Being kicked out of the apartment 8 months pregnant in the cold, other woman, being called a cow.

Reminded nobody will love her.

Wondering what she did so wrong to deserve all this. Wondering how she got into such a terrible place. Wondering how she was going to survive. Wondering how she would get out alive.

Baby born. They nearly died. He wasn’t bothered.

He was sexting another woman while she was dying. At that point she’d lost all care. Nothing left for the man that gave her the sweetest of baby boys. The only reason she was willing to survive.

Now that sweet baby boy is 13 and looks like her, begged her to face her abuser and past history. To be his mom. So she did for him.

We were talking travel plans earlier today and she said “oh yeah and my friend is gonna be there, I haven’t seen him in years.” Then she proceeded to tell me he’s in a MC and told me his chapter and some of him and his ‘crew’ were gonna go.
