This time last year, I was just starting to get out of a really bad place. I don’t remember a time where I felt lower, like nothing was really gonna be okay again. My friends were doing their best to help me get better, and little by little it worked. One night, they sent me a few bucks to go to the movies, to do something for myself. That was the night Rise of the Guardians premiered. That was the night that changed everything.

Since then, i’ve still had my ups and downs, but now I have something to fall back on. The movie, the books, the fanfictions, the fanart; whenever I need an extra boost to get me through rough times, there’s always something right there waiting for me to brighten my day. Artists like Pooka-Curse, The Guardian of Fun, Sweetfrost and Ionahi continue to inspire me with their wonderful work and motivate me to improve on my own.

But the most important thing is that RotG gave me my belief back. It sparked my hopes, fueled my dreams, helped me see the wonder in the simplest of things and helped me cherish my memories. It brought back my fun, my childhood, all of the little things I used to have, that I never even knew I had forgotten. It gave me my friend back, the moon I used to whisper my secrets to in the dead of night when no one else would listen. And there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t thank my stars for it.

So happy anniversary, my fellow believers. Here’s to the wonderful year that’s gone by, and the many more to come.

Saw Rise of the Guardians again. I could happily watch that movie everyday simply because it reminds me of the joy and wonder I love in this world.

It’s my little touch of magic.

And so I had to try and do something for it. Just a quick sketch for now, but more has been planned.
