just to be clear, the fact that music was nominated for a golden globe is absolutely disgusting. every single (adult) involved in that gross, ableist movie should be sickened by themselves.

for those of you who don't know, music (2021) is a movie being directed by sia about a nonverable autistic girl. not only does it not include any actually autistic people in the movie itself but it also only took advice from autism speaks which is looked at as a hate group by the majority of the autistic community. leaked scenes have also shown the movie glorifying prone restraints which are incredibly dangerous and have resulted in major injuries and even death to disabled people as recently as last year.

autistic people just like me have been incredibly outspoken about how harmful this movie is but the allistic have been mostly silent. we are already seeing reviews calling this movie 'inspiring' and important' and it's absolutely horrific! we need your help calling this out. please stand with us and call out this disgusting display of disrespect to autistic folks.

I’m sure everyone is sick of seeing political posts, this isn’t political, it’s a humanitarian crisis! And it’s not only happening “somewhere else” anymore!

Armenians are being attacked in the streets of my country!!Why is there not national outrage, or a movement rising up?? Where is anyone outside of the Armenian population screaming for equality? A genocide is literally taking place RIGHT NOW but you all would rather get upset and put your energy into candidates who are literally doing nothing of substance to help this situation while schools, hospitals and civilian homes are destroyed.

In 1915 no one cared about Armenia either, they watched as these same instigators marched women, children and elderly out into the desert with the sole intention of none of them making it back home, this is after murdering the men and those strong enough to fight back in front of their families. The term genocide was coined solely because of this tragedy! An entire culture almost wiped from the planet, and people still say we are overreacting!

Don’t allow this to happen again, don’t be someone who sits back as an entire country and culture are facing the threat of a SECOND GENOCIDE!!!! Please, wake up, do something, spread the news, because it could be me or my family being targeted tomorrow.

i’m not sure how many of you are aware of what’s happening in poland but the government basically banned abortion in case of a severe abnormality of the fetus - in a country with one of the strictest abortion laws in europe. it’s hell.

since october 22nd, we’ve been protesting in many big cities, churches, everywhere. the capital rn is basically blocked, people are everywhere, stopping the traffic, paralyzing the city.

it’s enormous and it’s tragic that we have to do this but it’s important for me that more people know what’s happening.

there are talks about banning abortion after rape and from incest too. it’s really hell.

but we’re protesting. we’re loud and we’re not going anywhere. more people need to know that’s happening here. we’re here, we’ll be here, fighting and protesting, all over the country and beyond too and it’s important to know that poland’s streets are not empty.

they’re full of enraged people, fighting for their rights, standing against the government, against the police using pepper spray and force. 

more people need to know.

So I’ve been keeping track of the Chrystul Kizer case (a 19 year old black woman charged with killing her abuser when she was 17). For everyone interested in my process - 

Here is colored Jaskier portrait - part from my modern au sketch  I don’t really have specific process, i sometimes do things differently to spice it up, ya know, but for the recent fanarts i used the same coloring style:  - firstly, i start with black and white colors just to se the whole silhouette better i personally think that clean silhouette is necessary for good drawing - then i put flat colors (each on separate layer) - then i do very simple shading, because i find it not always essential to do a lot of render, if the silhouette is clean, the colors are good, you don’t really need a lot of detail for your audience to get the mood and feel of the drawing. - then i add some lighting details (but it’s just for the fun, not mandatory for me) Here are my usual brushes -

Sorry if youve answered this before, but my writing style I think is a lot more telling rather than showing, a lot of just saying whats happening, any tips on how to improve on that?

Alrighty, so: my sincerest apologies that this has been sitting in my inbox for so long. I wanted to be able to answer it properly, and then when I had almost finished, I accidentally refreshed the page and lost everything I had written so I’ve been a little too butthurt about it to get back to it in a decent amount of time. With all that said, I’ll actually answer your ask now, again, my apologies!

Showing versus telling is a much more complicated question than it appears. There are plenty of times where showing is less effective than telling, and vice versa! So, rather than a list of ways to show and tell, I’m instead going to provide you with a (minimal and by no means strict) list of scenarios where showing is preferred to telling!

Showing is more effective when:

A setting has changed, or other visual element that a reader is relatively familiar with (nature, clothing, physical appearances)

When expressing emotions (through body language and other behaviors)

The description helps shift or establish the tone/mood of a scene

Telling is more effective when:

You want to establish or explain something complex which may be unique to your story

 It’s a smaller piece of information which doesn’t have too much significance.

You need to move the scene along quickly.

And, of course, there are exceptions and far more scenarios, but this can help provide a decent guide to start!
