"One can only hope," he nodded his head in agreement. It seemed like the likely outcome but he knew that one person could simply not assume without the possibility that he might be making an ass out of himself and the other person. "I think we've come a long way from crushed feet wine in all production, I think you'd need way more people than there are in the world to make wine that way with all the bottles on the shelves." The selection of wine could often be overwhelming. "That sounds like a nice day," he smiled, thinking of how many times he was with his own grandparents. Yet his reasons for thinking that was a better day than being at home were surely to vary from theirs. "I think that's just programmed in grandmas," he laughed with a shake of their head, "they have grandkids and something inside them turns on." @lilahelliott
Tumblr media
"Hopefully it's just a little advertisement schitk and it all goes into compost or something once it's all said and done." Lilah assumed that was the case, it definitely wouldn't be okay to sell wine squashed by strangers. "Also, is this still how wine is made? Like if I go to the liquor store and buy wine has it been foot crushed?" she questioned, her mind now racing. "They are both with my mom," she smiled, "grandma days are their favourite because she gives them way too much candy."

Jason held up his hands, shaking his head before his hands fell back to his side. "You caught me red handed," he joked with Michael. Family had never been so important to him until he had grown close with Michael and especially, the twins as he didn't have children of his own and didn't know if he'd ever have a chance to. "Of course I love you all," he told Michael with a growing smile, "so, remember that woman I was telling you about at the camping retreat?" The one that Jason had taken after the company he worked for went up in metaphorical flames, "Turns out she lives here, too." @michaelxrutherford
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Family had always been an odd topic to the two: Family. Michael had always grown up an only child himself and moving to the States hadn't much improved the relationship he had with his brother. Their personalities and lifestyles clashed too much that Michael had just turned more to his study and later his job. His father and his brother had reached out once he earned more success, but by that point Michael had no longer been interested. At least he had a brother in Jason. "It's because of the twins too, huh? You can admit it, you love us." @jasonxamato

"No, not at all," his lips parted with his soft laughter and in fact, while it was much slower pace than the lifestyle he had become acquired to in New York, there were things that he already loved about it. Running into Amerie just now, was already added to the list. "I'm always impressed by artists," even the most simplistic of art was more skilled than what he could do. "Mind walking through again?" He questioned her, perhaps a bit too eagerly, "if you don't have anything else going on. I haven't been through the artist section yet." @ameriecelestino
Tumblr media
Amerie had felt her smile grow on her lips, unable to hold it back from doing so, when he seemed up for catching up with her now. "Is that right?" She asked, "Are you finding Kismet Harbor that boring already, you are already packing up to get out of here?" She attempted at a joke with a soft chuckle emitting from her lips, before her cheeks heated up again as she started overthinking how bad that joke might have been. "The woods around here aren't bad though, so I can't say I blame you." She added in an attempt to redeem herself in case he hadn't found her funny. "Oh um--" She thought about his question for a second, as usually it would straight up have been the wine, but for obvious reasons currently hidden under her oversized rain jacket, it wasn't this time. "I did enjoy the artist area a lot this year. People are so creative, it's amazing to see what they can come up with." @jasonxamato

Jason nodded his head, "Thanks," the man's continued words caused him to chuckle, "I don't either," he joked back with him, taking the seat as it was offered to him. There were seemingly no other options and while he could have gone somewhere else for the evening, this had easily become one of his favorite spots in town to grab a drink. "I'm Jason," he held out a hand to the man, ready to introduce himself to the man that had allowed him to sit next to him. @dean-walker

Dean was getting very comfortable in his usual seat at the bar. When he would normally be going around mingling and trying to meet women, today he was just tired from work and wanted to relax and have a drink. He was zoned out with a beer in his hand, only snapping out of it when another man addressed him. "Hmm?" he mumbled, turning his head as he only finally started processing the question several seconds after the man had already said it. "Oh, no- no one. You can sit there if you want, I don't bite" he joked a little, smiling. @jasonxamato

"Oh, wow," Jason laughed as Lilah mentioned the woman with athlete's foot. It wasn't a funny situation, but in fact he was so surprised by it, that it did cause him to laugh. "That is a lawsuit waiting to happen, I'll be watching to make sure no one bottles that wine," he shook his head, the mere thought causing him to shudder. "What are the kids up to, today?" He questioned Lilah with another smile. @lilahelliott
Tumblr media
"Very much so," she agreed with a laugh. Then it turned to a soured expression as he discussed the chance that they were perhaps drinking the now named 'feet wine'. "I should hope not," she said, "because I've just watched that woman enter with a nasty case of athlete's foot," she commented. "That feels like a lawsuit waiting to happen." She was a nurse not a lawyer but she was pretty sure that it would break numerous health and safety laws.

"Thank you," he smiled at her warm welcomes of him to the area. It was a big move, not only distance wise but scenery. New York wasn't exactly known for its oceanic views and gorgeous beaches. He was used to waking up to the fog rippling through the buildings that grew into the sky. "Well, I'd be happy to hear about the trail, now," he admitted, "considering, I'll need to get some new ones under my belt. I've barely finished unpacking and am already looking to pack up for a weekend trip in the woods." Jason continued on, "I am," he nodded his head, "it's not like anything I've experienced in New York," admittedly, he had never been free enough to enjoy festivities like this. His schedule had kept him within the confines of the building more often than not. "What's your favorite part?" @ameriecelestino

Amerie smiled a little wider when he mentioned he’d moved to town. “Oh right—“ She chuckled, “I guess welcome is in order then.” She added with a greeting nod, adjusting the strap of her bag again while she continued to take in the view of him. Had she ever expected to see him again? No. Especially not after not hearing back from him after she’d texted. Her cheeks heated up slightly when he brought it up. “Right—“ She smiled, “I um.. I might have dropped you a text at one point. I think it was to tell you about another hiking trail in the area if you were ever around.” She shrugged, though she hadn’t thought much more off it after never hearing back. At least eventually. “You enjoying the festivities?” @jasonxamato

Of course, Jason had to get a gym membership. Though he much preferred outdoor activities, he was living in Oregon and like in New York, outdoor activities were not always possible. Jason wasn't the biggest fan of running in the rain and had opted for a session on the treadmill. As he was leaving, however, he caught the door for another and a question left his lips. "Hey, sorry, uh, do you know a good place to grab dinner tonight?"

Jason had been surviving at work. There had been so much to learn starting at a new company and though he was adaptable, it was still a lot to take in. Plus, he hadn't wanted to disappoint the Hawthorne family - he never wanted to disappoint anyone but especially felt like he was still trying to make a good impression. Having texted Michael to join him, it was as he walked into the bar that he found out the other wasn't free. Instead of getting a table, he walked toward the bar, spotting an open seat. "Anyone sitting here?"

"That would make sense," he laughed, nodding his head, "but instead, they are letting people use their feet." The notion still made the man wrinkle his nose. "Seems a little outdated," he held his thumb and index finger widely apart, opposite of his words to indicate the sarcasm. "I think so, I'd rather not think about if we are drinking wine made by people squishing the grapes with their feet." He laughed, before shaking his head. "You don't think they are doing that, right?" @lilahelliott
Tumblr media
Lilah liked down to earth people, and Jason definitely ticked that box. There was also the fact that he didn't seem bothered about the noise that Evie and Mila made and the fact that they seemed to routinely throw things into his backyard. "Some kind of mallet or something?" she suggested, though in retrospect she realised that perhaps that was naive, she had seen many videos of people squashing grapes with their feet. "Surely once it's done it all has to go in the trash right? They aren't selling randomer feet wine are they?"

While Jason had a younger brother, their relationship had long been ruined by that of their parents. He didn't get along with anyone in his family and Michael had been someone he had trusted from the get-go. "Me too," he nodded his head. New York was in the past and it had to stay there, "it's already growing on me and not just because you are here." He joked with the other, a grin growing across his lips. @michaelxrutherford

"Always, you know it." Michael had a brother, but had never formed a proper relationship with him. With Jason it had been natural from the start. He had owed his successes to him, for Jason was the one that encouraged him to drop out and pursue his passion. It had been why he had named his first main character after his friend. An inspiration, of some sort. "New York is in the past, I'm hoping you can find yourself back on your feet here. This town has a certain charm, I like it here." @jasonxamato

He honestly never thought he'd see or hear from her again. It was after he got home that Jason realized he had written the wrong number down for Amerie - a single digit that separated his cell phone from his previous work phone. Since the company had shut down, leaving him and many others without a place to work, he'd gone on the hiking retreat where he had met Amerie. "Well, uh," he reached up, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. "I actually moved here. My friend, the one I was telling you about that I go on annual hikes with, he lives here and told me about a job opportunity." Jason told her, "And I'm sorry, if you texted," how could he assume that she even wanted to talk to him, "I gave you my old work number," he shook his head, "and well, that company doesn't even exist anymore." @ameriecelestino

Amerie was headed back home after having spent the rest of her day with Manuel at the festival in town. Her feet were starting to feel tired, and so was she. The weather didn't exactly help, because it just felt depressing after months and months of rain, she'd been hoping it would have stopped by the time the festival started. Kind of lost in her own thoughts, eyeing the booths she walked past while headed towards the exit, she felt herself knock into someone. She was quick to step back and naturally apologize, though it took her a second to register whether or not her eyes were deceiving her. "J--Jason?" She uttered in surprise, though her lips curved up into a wide smile, "Hi, wow--" She chuckled softly, "What are you doing here?" @jasonxamato

Moving next door to someone like Lilah was likely the best move he could have made. Though he had Michael to drag him out when necessary, there was something about new friends that had Jason feel like he was beginning to find his footing in Kismet Harbor. "What did you think we were going to have to squish them with?" Not that Jason particularly thought it would be feet either and he had to agree with her, "It's not for me either, admittedly," he chuckled with a shake of his head. @lilahelliott

Lilah had all but dragged Jason out for the evening. Since he'd moved in next door she'd taken on the role of 'town guide', even though he didn't necessarily need one. Lilah was a native, she knew the place like the back of her hand so it was rather nice when there was some new blood in town, perhaps someone who didn't see her as just one of the Elliotts. "Okay, so I was down for this whole contest until I realised that we have to squish them with our feet and that is not a sensory experience that I want."

"It's still kind of unbelievable that we are living in the same place again. I can't thank you enough for letting me know about that opening at HCP Holdings," he smiled at his college best friend. "I mean, it, after things went to shit back in New York," his head shook, "I really felt like I was lost. The camping trip helped, but we both knew that would happen." Jason had long last track of the number of backpacking trips the two had embarked on over the years himself.

Moving to Kismet Harbor only a few weeks ago, this was the first time that Jason really felt like he was getting out and about. There was not much that he had been around to see yet, as Michael often reminded him. So, with a day off work and no plans, Jason took it upon himself to get out and about in Kismet Harbor. The misty weather was not something he minded, merely opting for a light rain jacket until he found cover under the arts and craft tent that was out downtown. He didn't need to buy anything, but he figured it was worth checking out. Jason was looking over a hand crafted wallet, that he placed back and turned to step back out into the flow of traffic. It was then that he almost ran someone over, "Oh, I am so sorry," he was quick to apologize, holding his hands up in a mock surrender before he realized who it was. "Wait, Amerie?" He couldn't believe his eyes, causing him to shake his head. Was it really her?
