50 Countries In My 50th Year

So, it's now 2 years since we "sold up...packed up....f@#ked off!" and started travelling 🌎. Time to stop now maybe??.....nah, go big or go home as they say....and as we haven't got a home, GO BIG it is!!!The PLAN.....I turn 49 on 23rd May - the beginning of my 50th year on this amazing planet. So we came up with the bright idea (possibly alcohol induced?🤔) of travelling to 50 countries in my 50th year. We didn't think this was exciting enough, so it will also include an 'Around the World in 80 Days' trip. It's taken some planning, but we're almost there! Itinary to follow soon! 😆Plus, it's all for a very good cause.....I was diagnosed with Primary Immunodeficiency (PID) two and a bit years ago, as a direct result of ground-breaking research undertaken by the Immunodeficiency Centre for Wales at the University Hospital. PID is a rare, potentially life-threatening disease, in which part of the body's immune system is missing or functions improperly. Since then, I have had to have subcutaneous infusions of immunoglobulin every three weeks, which Rob (my husband) has been trained up to administer (and enjoys doing a bit too much in my opinion! 😬).There is a general lack of awareness about PID and the condition is generally under-diagnosed, with some people experiencing symptoms all of their life before diagnosis. The awesome work undertaken by the doctors and nurses at The Immunodeficiency Centre for Wales means that more people are no being diagnosed and treated earlier and therefore increasing their quality of life. However, this inevitably stretches their limited resources. I would not have been diagnosed or started treatment if it weren't for them and I feel strongly that I would like others to benefit too. Our aim is therefore to raise money and awareness for PID Research, so more people can be diagnosed, treated and have healthier and longer lives. So I have set a challenging target of raising £5,050 over the next year...
