Jennifer Lawrence Cast as Fidel Castro’s Lover in Sony’s ‘Dear Fidel’

Jennifer Lawrence is attached to play Fidel Castro’s lover, Marita Lorenz, in “Dear Fidel,” a hot pitch from “American Hustle” writer Eric Warren Singer that was just acquired by Sony Pictures, TheWrap has learned.

Lorenz is a German woman who had an affair with Castro in 1959 when she was just 19 years old. After having an abortion and leaving Cuba, she was recruited by the CIA to take part in an assassination attempt on Castro’s life, though her feelings for the communist leader got in the way of her completing her mission.

Lorenz, who is still alive and living in Maryland, is now the center of a romantic spy drama that will be produced by Matt Tolmach.

Singer has a good relationship with Lawrence, who co-starred in “American Hustle,” and he developed the “Dear Fidel” pitch with her in mind. Expect Sony to pay Lawrence as much as her male co-stars this time around.

Lawrence received her fourth Oscar nomination last week for her performance in “Joy,” which also won her a Golden Globe earlier this month. She next stars in “X-Men: Apocalypse” and Sony’s sci-fi romance “Passengers,” in which she’ll be paired with Chris Pratt. Lawrence is also attached to star in Darren Aronofsky’s next movie, and she’s in the midst of writing a screenplay with her pal Amy Schumer. Lawrence is represented by CAA, while UTA reps Singer.

In relation to the WWHL interview, I want to remind everyone to chill out. Jen was saying what they wanted her to say. It was clear that Andy wanted Jen to say ‘yes’ to 'kissing’ Liam; which I highly doubt actually happened. Might’ve been a friendly kiss sure, like a peck on the cheek.

Don’t be so quick to jump ship either. We have four years’ worth of proof (and future BTS goss from the MJ2 DVD) that Jen clearly adores Josh, in more ways than friendship. She absolutely loves him, in the romantic sense. I believe that.

We’ve got the kisses, the stolen looks, the inside jokes, the songs and cat noises, the plane bed footage, holding hands, sticking to each other like Velcro at premieres and now the crotch thing. Oh, and she freaking pled the fifth with the 'marry, shag or kill’ thing when she heard Josh’s name.

So guys, just chill.

Over the last 2 years this is something that bothered me!

Everybody knows how many times Jen said this about Josh:

I just never could understand why Jen could act with all the other actors but never with Josh. Everybody always complimented Jen on how fast she can go from joking around to being in character but why couldn’t she separate herself from her character when Josh was in scenes with her?

I started realizing small little things like:

Jen:

I suspected for a long time now that maybe the reason why she cant get into character is because she can’t separate the way she has to act in love and the way she is in love. There is a lot of example’s like the way she looks at him etc but this just showed me that there is no difference between how Jen acts as Katniss and how she is towards Josh.

I never really had anything to compare it to but today I came across this golden article and it really confirmed it to me:

This showed me that people that are involved with each other have a hard time acting toward each other and that is the only explanation that makes sense to me why she and Josh can’t act towards each other. If your involved with somebody you can’t just switch on and off your feelings. That’s why it made her cry to see her baby in pain etc.
